Ophelia's on the Bay
Another trip to Ophelia’s, another good experience. Seated on “the dock” by the water - beautiful. Lobster, scallops and salads all done very well and there was no “wait” between courses. Our server Chris, was helpful, informative and humorous. Highly recommended.
The food just wasn’t very good. Our waiter was great and the view was awesome.
My husband and I had their special Savor Sarasota dinner. For $32 you pick an appetizer or salad, an entree and dessert. The waitress suggested their eggplant crepe appetizer and it was crunchy, cheesy and delicious. The salmon and the swordfish were both flavorful and light. The keylime pie and creme brule were both delicious. We sat outside on the dock and enjoyed the sunset and dolphins at play.
Beautiful setting right on Little Sarasota Bay with indoor and outdoor seating and water views for all diners. Because the building is long and narrow for optimal views, tables are tightly positioned so don’t expect to conduct a private conversation. Service from the valet parking to reception to wait staff was friendly and efficient. My husband began with the filet mignon tartare which he declared to be excellent. Portions for both the tartare and my beet and Vermont chèvre salad were substantial and could easily serve two. I did feel that the bed of greens should have been fresher - likely “ready made” bagged lettuce which is not acceptable in a “fine dining” restaurant. Although the cheese medallions were delicious, I felt they were proportionally much too large. Our main courses were outstanding- my husband enjoyed the Japanese yellowfin and lobster roll platter and I the wild Chilean sea bass - so yummy! Warm bread was also wonderful. No room for dessert so can’t comment on that but overall experience was very good!
I wish I could give a better review as I was really looking forward to spending my anniversary dinner at a romantic restaurant. The hostesses at the front acted like we were interrupting them. The restaurant was almost empty and even though we had a reservation they sat us at the worst table. The air conditioner was not working and it felt like it was a humid 90 in there. Our waiter was good and apologized for the air not working. I had the mahi mahi, meh. My husband had the lobster and said it was excellent. Too hot to stay for desert so can’t say if it was good. Too many other fabulous and romantic restaurants in Sarasota to go to a restaurant where they make you feel so unwelcome.
Outstanding, as usual. Lobster bisch (sp?) is the best in Sarasota
It is a lovely restaurant, somewhat crowed, close space. The food was good and enjoyed the evening.
Overall, it was a great meal in a beautiful setting.
Good creative dishes with nice presentation. Beautiful water view, though it poured rain while we were there. Excellent service.
Nice pace. Attentive server Excellent sommelier
absolutely fantastic location!! the food is delicious and with the service it does make the overall experience totally exceptional and unique!!! can't wait to go back!!!
Amazing restaurant, service, and food. Beautiful views and outstanding service. I let the staff know ahead of time that we would be celebrating a special occasion and they went above and beyond to show us a great time. The menu was great and our food was perfect. Overall it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend Ophelia’s.
Great food and great service!
Great experience, a very pleasant experience from the food to the servers. Highly recommended to my friends and family.
wonderful food; great service; beautiful restaurant on water; deserves the hype.
The food was amazing and the view lovely. However, the service was seriously lacking. After our dinner came, we were basically ignored. Both my husband and I would have liked another drink and dessert, but we left quickly due to the inattention. Even though we made eye contact numerous time with our waiter, he couldn't be bothered because he was very concerned about a his tip from another table. We could hear him remarking to another waiter about the amount. The parking lot is also a nightmare and the attendant acted like we were bothering him.
Great food!!!!! Staff is so friendly!
My wife and i enjoyed our dinner down by the water because of the nice breeze and it was great spot to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. My wife loved her lobster which was cooked perfectly and i had ordered the 8 oz filet meddium well, which was cooked well done. The waiter apologised and took the steak away and returned with another steak which again was over cooked, but i didn't want to wait so i ate the steak. The meal was very good despite the errors and the manager apologized for the mishap. We really enjoyed everything about our night here.
Service was off, going to take it off are list of places to go for a while
We celebrated our 43rd anniversary with a wonderful bayside dinner on a very warm & tranquil evening. The meal was delicious, the services superb and the ambiance very pleasant. The bar even had my favorite rum!
Second time here after a wonderful experience the first time, and we were not disappointed. The excellent food was complimented by excellent service. We will definitely be back.
Was our favorite restaurant. Don.t know if chef had the night off...but raw meat (was supposed to be, 1 med, 1 med rare). Even fat was not fully rendered. Vegs also uncooked and very sad array. Dessert: key lime pie...had been great...now eggy un-lime (no flavor) filling, overly sweet crust, fake whip cream topping. Took home meat and re cooked next day. They use to be worth their higher end prices, not now. Wine was great and well served. Pretty place, great view.
This is a lovely waterside restaurant with excellent food. We would have preferred inside seating only because the evening was especially hot and a bit stifling. The hostess was able to move us from her original table choice (right on the water but in direct sunlight) to a more shaded table, when I explained that I have a sun sensitivity due to prior health issues. Our server, Stephanie was charming, efficient, and very gracious. She definitely added to the special occasion.
Took my boyfriend here while on vacation for his birthday dinner. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Next time we are in Siesta Key we will definitely be eating at Ophelia's again!
Beautiful view and great food. They extended their savor sarasota menu option during the summer so I felt like we got a great deal that abled us to try more of what they offer for less! :)
Food was fabulous but we both got sick when we got home. Not sure what went wrong.
We had absolutely the best server. She made our night!! Food was delicious and cocktails phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back the next time we’re in town.
Second time we have come here since staying at a condo on Siesta Key. Anyone we take there talks about how amazing the food is. Our waiter took our picture for us and was very attentive. We will be back next year.
Ophelia’s food is always good. We visited for Father’s Day and the the food did not disappoint. My son had the filet which he said was tender and cooked just right. My husband loved the snapper and my shrimp scampi was cooked perfectly. We each had appetizers that were also wonderful. The lobster bisque was rich, with several chunks of lobster waiting at the bottom of the bowl. The beet and chèvre salad was very generous, 3 thick slices of beets and lots of goat cheese with a nice balsamic glaze. The PEI mussels were nice and garlicky. Our desserts of creme brûlée and key lime pie really made us overly full, but worth it. And last but not least was the martini (?) Pear Desire. Dan, our server, was attentive and very helpful.
The only disappointment was the lack of sufficient a/c. It was a hot day and we arrived around 6:45 pm. When we walked into the restaurant, it was very warm and the thermostat said the temp was 83 even though it was set for 71. There are not enough fans and the a/c is woefully inadequate for the size of the room. In fact, the whole decor is in serious need of renovation. The heat, the faded posters and the dirty paint definitely diminish the overall experience. It’s hard to recommend a restaurant that costs $60+ PER PERSON for an appetizer, entree and dessert (w/o any and before tax and tip) but doesn’t upgrade its a/c and freshen up its appearance. Still, we will go there on occasion, but I hope the owners will spend some money on fixing it up.
Celebrated Father’s day on the patio with a great view. Savor Sarasota menu in effect all summer. Excellent value.
We always love going to Ophelia's! The food is always delicious and exciting!
We were celebrating Father’s Day.
We had the perfect round table in a corner with a view
of the water and were fortunate to have the best server,
He gave us recommendations and took such wonderful care of us.
This was the first visit and it will not be our last.
Seated at a table in a corner with poor ventilation (AC issues with no fan nearby) making it uncomfortable and challenging to enjoy our anniversary dinner. We have dined here for special occasions before and never had such an experience.
Loved the whole experience. Our server was terrific.
We have been here several times for Sunday Brunch and it was excellent. This time it was dinner. Everything was fine but the inside table was near the door to the outside seating. the HVAC could not compensate for the heat from the constant comings and goings of wait staff. it was very uncomfortable and there are no AC vents near that door.
I made a reservation this past weekend to celebrate Father's Day. I was not aware, nor was I made aware, that the restaurant had what effectually was zero air conditioning. As a result, as I was eating it was so hot that I started to get sick. My very expensive celebratory meal was ruined. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone any time soon. At the very least management should provide their guests with notice of this considering the extreme heat.
Superb inland waterway views and well presented good quality food.
Nothing less than absolutely amazing!
