Service was excellent, with cheerful and attentive wait staff. All food dishes were good, except the pesto which was "disappointing" according to one of our group. But, we will still come back. Ambiance is enjoyable.
I love this place! The food is soooo good, great wine selection, and the staff is incredibly attentive.
Pre show dinner with friends - perfect location to balboa theatre. Right across the street. Everyone enjoyed their meals from chicken parmigiana to raviolis with truffle oil. Pear salad has a great presentation and flavors. We will return for sure.
The food and service were great. It is a casual place with good atmosphere and is quiet enough so you can visit.
Delicious and authentic Italian dishes and sauces. We always love this restaurant before Civic or Balboa Theatre shows.
Always great! This is our go-to place before the theater.
Always great food, love small family owned restaurants ♥️🍷
Good variety quick service excellent dessert choices
Very good service and delicious food.I wanna try desserts next time!
Lovely little intimate restaurant. We go there often and are never disappointed.
The food was really good and the service was good but got slow as they had a big crowd for the show at the Balboa Theater and seemed to be short staffed. The busser was awesome! Despite that... our server was good and did her best with being so busy but we rarely saw her towards the end and that lost them a star. I would recommend.
The food was outstanding and very well priced for the quality. The menu has many choices; something for everyone. We had good service on a weeknight. I only wish I lived in San Diego so I could go back and try something else! The mushroom ravioli that I had was excellent.
A group of six dining before Balboa Theater ~ right across the street. Food and service was excellent even though they were overflowing with most everyone on the same departure deadline.
The Pastas were excellent! The Calamari was a bit tough and Caesar salad lacked flavour and was just okay. The Tiramisu and coffee were delicious!
This is the second time my wife have visited this restaurant. We go to a new restaurant before a show, but my wife wanted to come back here because she wanted me to taste the chicken parmigiana. I got the Veal parmigiana which was INCREDIBLE! It was one of the top 5 meals I have ever had, delicious! The service by the owner was excellent, I applaud the ambiance and detail to service. This place is a must visit before a show!
Always love it here. We are never disappointed, the food is delicious and then you can walk to your event near by.
Salads and Desserts were great. Pasta entrees were 4+
Nice ambiance, great service, excellent value. Unfortunately the two different pasta dishes my wife and I had were heavily overstated out of the kitchen. Convenient to the Balboa theatre, but otherwise not a reason to dine there.
We had an excellent meal at Operacaffe. We ordered the daily specials (with black truffles!), and they were outstanding. We'll be returning.
Great service and food. We go every year when in town for a conference. Gluten free and vegetarian friendly!
Second time there before a Civic Theater event. Excellent food and drink. Great service with no rush to turn tables.
Portions large - easy to split - I hate food waste.
Do you space was absolutely amazing all the winners to care of us as if we were family and I really appreciate everything that they did for us the food was absolutely amazing and also the waitress in the beginning helped us with our bottle of rose the experience was absolutely on touchable to any other Italian restaurant I have been in San Diego if you guys are looking for an amazing experience definitely come down to this restaurant they will treat you as if you are family and there’s nothing else more to say except the food is amazing and the drinks are also amazing and we really appreciate the courtesy of a tiramisu for the desert as a birthday gift to the customer that we were eating with thank you very much and we hope to see you guys again very
The food is excellent-service was just ok. We felt very rushed by our waiter, we had a large group so tip was already added so he did not have to try hard
Very nice, very delicious meal, although my pet peeve is a salad (the La Mista) I have to chop up myself in order to get into my mouth. But I really, it was fantastic experience and we will definitely return!
Great food. Need more waiting staff tho. Had to remind about wine order. There was only one waitress on a Friday night.
Great spot for dinner before a show at San Diego Civic Theater. Just 5 minutes walk, we were able to park once and stretch our legs after dinner. Bucatini Mare e Monti ("sea and mountains" an Italian play on surf and turf) was perfectly cooked, with slightly spicy sausage and shrimp. Gnocchi was also great and the chicken parmigiana was tender, not overcooked, and well seasoned. Good reviews all around for our group!
By far the best Minestrone soup since Italy! The pasta was excellent - cooked al dente.
Awesome food and service!
Service was slow (server told us kitchen was slammed) and rude ( when we mentioned that we had theater tickets we were told “so does everyone else “. Food was fantastic and a great value.
My friend and I went there for dinner before watching a musical at the San Diego Civic Theatre. I had the Vongole while my friend had one of the raviolis. The food itself was good but we both agreed that it was a bit too salty for our taste. The biggest issue we had was the wait time; it took them over an hour for them to get our food ready for us. In addition, the waiters kept bumping into me even though I was just sitting down and left ample amount of space between myself and the other tables and chairs. Overall, it was an okay experience but I wouldn’t go again.
Our waitress was such a sweetie! So nice. We come there often and she remembered us as "regulars."
The menu features classic dishes and the food is well executed. The pasta and mozzarella tasted home made. This was easily the best Italian I’ve had in a very long time. If I lived locally, I’d make this a regular spot.
