I chose this restaurant for the ambiance and the variety of choices. The service was fine, but the food was not. One of our dishes was not at all as described. We sent it back. All of our dinners were very bland. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Overall a very positive experience in a very unique old building. Staff was always attentive. Easily sat 8 of us, not crowded into a space. I hate when places try and fit 8 people where normally only 6 people can fit, so it was nice not be cramped. We were upstairs and this is an old building renovated to be a dining place. Everything had to come from downstairs. So the wait staff gets a workout. If I had one minor complaint it was that my food was luke warm and not piping hot, which is understandable considering how far it had to travel. It was still an excellent meal. I had the seafood pasta special and it was more than I could eat. Portions were generous and fresh. I would go back again.
Good food-nice restaurant. Had the grilled swordfish-outstanding.
My husband's fish was excellent--great flavor and a generous portion, but my beef stroganoff was disappointing --no mushrooms and no flavor of sherry or wine in the sauce. Our Baked Alaska was creative and very yummy, and plenty for sharing. Service was pleasant and attentive, without hovering.
We were here in the off-season so it was very quiet. We were dining out for our wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. We'll definitely return.
Lovely place tucked in among all the historic buildings in Galena. Friendly staff, attentive service and good food! We enjoyed a smoked trout appetizer with some delicious cocktails before our main meal. We'll certainly come back!
Restaurant is very nice looking, but food was mediocre. Our bread tasted mostly burnt and my entire entree was very lukewarm almost cold. My husband was still hungry after finishing his meal. There were only 2 of us dining so shouldn’t have been that way. Nothing to write home about.
Food subpar for over priced menj
While on a girls' trip we chose this weekend based on a tour we took and we were not disappointed. The food was delish, generous portions, and the desserts--Death by Chocolate, creme brulee and peanut butter cup cheesecake--was fantastic. Cool ambiance, too.
food is nothing special. It's ok but nothing to go out of your way for. We were a group of 10 and needed a place that could handle a large group. Understandable for a tourist town that they get lots of customers but the food doesn't have to be too great.
New Year’s Eve/Birthday
went there on new years eve, there was like one waiter and he was good. The mashed potatoes tasted terrible, doesn't take that much to make them so idk how one does that. The steak was ok, the wife had the salmon and ate that within seconds it was so good. I used to come here a lot 7 years ago and it has changed since ive been there and not for the better....
Went to Galena with my adult daughter. I have eaten lunch at 111 before, but not dinner. Based on lunch, I wanted to try dinner. It is a great little place right on Main Street. Exposed brick walls, nice bar, cozy environment. They have varying menu options, which we enjoy. The service was excellent and the food came extremely fast.
My husband and I usually eat here every time we come to Galena. Our past experiences have always been good when we stuck to ordering the meat dishes. This time, I decided to try the chicken with veggies pasta and was very disappointed. The description reads white wine and butter, but it had the consistency more like mac and cheese and really lacked flavor. It was super heavy and I did not feel well for a few days. Being in the service industry myself, I know how reviews impact a business so let me emphasize that we have always had a good meal at this restaurant and the service is ALWAYS impeccable! I think this dish needs a better description on the menu or needs to be lightened up a bit!
Laurie always takes good care of us and Will, our server did his usual best at delivering great service.
My wife and I both had great meals. She had a steak and I had Steak and shrimp. The beer fondue was great. Laurie always takes great care of us and our server, Will, was excellent.
This has always been one of our favorite Galena restaurants. We were disappointed this time. The waiter was outstanding but the food left much to be desired. I ordered the ravioli which is listed as one of their signature dishes. The actual raviolis were great but they were literally drowning in the lemon cream sauce. Thus they became soggy & the sauce, though tasty, was way too rich & too much. The yummy raviolis were lost. My husband ordered the almond crusted walleye. Bland, no flavor. Veges were good but the mashed potatoes were dry. The prices are pretty high at One Eleven Main for such mediocre food. The dessert was a pumpkin spiced cake. It too was very dry. How you can have a pumpkin cake that is dry is a mystery. I hope the kitchen can make some adjustments for improvement. We’d really like to come back.
Great food. Fair price. Friendly service. Would eat here again without hesitation.
Food was just ok. The mean was a little weird.service was excellent !
Appetizer of smoked salmon (or trout) was outstanding. Dinner entrees were solid with good ingredients. Nice variety of craft beers. Atmosphere, staff and background music was great! The owner, Jack, knows how to create an inviting establishment!
Very disappointing. I would not recommend to anyone. Food was very bland and not at correct temperature. Wait staff was not very attentative.
I was hoping to be impressed based on the reviews, but it was just "ok". Burger was fine, but unexceptionable. Probably won't be back.
Food was delicious. Presentation was lovely.
Service was prompt.
Would definitely go again.
111 Main consistently has delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere. We are always pleasantly surprised and delighted with the evening chef specials. It is truly the gem of Galena.
I want to love this place since I am a fan of the concept but I can’t. Food quality is just too inconsistent— either mediocre or just plain poor. They used to have a reasonably good wine list by the glass— and now it’s been brought down a level and the selections are more budget wines versus good quality offerings.
My husband and I had dinner here on a Saturday evening. I would definitely recommend for attentive service and menu options, although I thought some entrees were slightly pricey, but this wouldn't prevent us from going back. Food was fresh and well prepared. And our server was awesome!
The service was outstanding! The food was healthy and deliscious!
Nice quiet dining upstairs. We enjoyed a very good meal for our anniversary. Good menu for my somewhat picky husband. Nothing to trendy, just good quality food with enough flair to make it interesting.
One Eleven Main was a great experience. The minute we walked in Laurie, the Manager, greeted us with a big hi and smile! William was our server and he was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant history, ingredients of the food, wine selections, and overall a good sense of what I would like based on our conversation. Service was extremely attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a go-to place and would highly recommend! Ask for William!
We really enjoyed our dinner. Signature dinners so tasty. Pot roast with fresh vegetables so tender. Steak and grilled shrimp with white cheddar whipped potatoes outstanding. Very friendly service. Beer not on tap but nice craft selection.
Food was good, but our experience was made by the very kind and attentive server. A very evening for our first visit to Galena.
Overall, the food was good. I ordered the chicken special that evening and the chicken was overdone, but edible. This was an unusual occurence as we eat here frequently. Service was excellent.
All parts of the experience were great. Kim was very helpful with choices .
The Duck was perfectly prepared, the service was exceptional, and the ambiance was memorable!
Everything was well prepared! I got the ravioli with the shrimp. Quite a bit of sauce and it was very rich but very good! Servers were helpful and attentive.
It's great to find another excellent dining option in Galena! We also stayed for the Mark Twain show after dinner. A very enjoyable evening!
YUCK! Disgusting. Hardly any food for the price. Your dinner doesn't even come with a salad. Fries are horrible. Burgers are just ok, but dry. (Medium well). Did not finish dinner. Don't come here if you want a steak either.
Delicious, fresh and healthy food. Loved the gluten free menu
Had salad, poutine, and homemade ravioli and it was all delicious. Nice fresh salad with lots of different greens and tomatoes, basalmic vinegrette was delicious. Ravioli was so tender, filling delicious, and cream sauce amazing. Poutine was the best I have ever had.
Food well prepared
