I had the best food at the restaurant than I had in a whole week in Islamorado BUT our waiter was rude (tall blonde man with a pony tail) and they sat us in an area that was the lobby of the hotel not a table in the restaurant section. I would go back for the food if I could be sure not to get the same waiter and that I had a reservation in the dining area. Fab food. Amazing meatball
appetiser and terrific pasta dishes.
The food was a complete and total disappointment. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Wow what a fabulous restaurant to find on The Keys (Islamorada). The setting, decor, ambience, service and food was great. For New Year's Eve they offered both a la carte and three choices of 'set menu'. I chose the Extravaganza which for $58 including a glass of Prosecco, was fantastic value. If you're looking for a smart/casual restaurant where you can dress up and not feel out of place then this is a perfect find. Loved it.
The menu was misleading. Ordered the pasta with Parmesan tomato broth and when our dish came out there was no tomato. When asking the server they said "there was tomato when it cooks it turns white." Would never go back again
You're basically eating in a glorified lobby. Service was slow and inattentive. No music. They forgot the kids' food and it wasn't served until the adults were served. Food was pretty unremarkable and overpriced. We never mind paying for good food (we are from NYC). But we had a better meal for a third of the price at a local fish shack last night. We ventured up from Marathon because of great reviews but it was not at all worth it. We will not be returning and do not recommend eating here.
Totaler Reinfall.

The food was spectacular. The restaurant is basically located in the lobby of the Amara Cay Hotel, so it is not unlikely that people walking to and from the pool (which is a beautiful pool!) will walk by your table. The service was lacking, which I think is a lack of management at the restaurant. For example, the woman who seated us failed to leave the wine and cocktail menus, the server never took away the preset wine glasses, the entrees arrived just a few minutes after our salads, bread was delivered 10 minutes after the entrees arrived, and the server was slow in clearing the table. All of this with only three tables occupied.
The food was very good, I'm sure in time the service will catch up to make this a great dining experience.
Tasty meal and good service but the place was dead. We were one of only 2 tables. Made it kind of boring. Maybe the word will get out.
Was somewhat disappointed. Prices were a bit much for amount and quality of food. When booking, was made to feel like this was a difficult place to get a reservation and few tables remained. We were only 2 in there and no one came in during our meal. 100 dollars no beverages, alcohol, appetizers or desserts. No soup or salad included. No veggie with one meal.
Great fresh seafood in Islamorado in an upscale atmosphere.
Simple but high quality menu options at a fair price.
GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE , THEY ALL MADE OUR SPECIAL OCCASIONS EXCELLENT
The place is nice and the food is delicious.
Although the service was great, both from the bartender, waitress and assistant, the food was OK. We live local and have had breakfast there. We wanted to be seated by the window but were told there were reservations so we were seated in the lobby where you feel you are on display. The reservations never showed and we were there for almost 2 hrs 20 minutes with a 7:00 res.
Two of us ordered the fettucini which was like ramen noodle soup with pork belly strips. Homemade noodles were great but we were expecting something creamier like a true fettucini. Two of us ordered the catch of the day which was good and one the ribeye which came pre sliced. We will try it again and order other items because we are always looking for good restaurants, hopefully next time will be better.
Love the food, atmosphere and wine. I felt comfortable and relaxed with our family. Tried a new dish also😊
The homemade pasta is amazing! Another fabulous dining experience.
Service and food were exceptional! Grilled octopus appetizer is a must and the braised short rib dinner as well.
Kelsey & Iseida were AMAZING! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.
We recently dined at Oltremare. The food and service was outstanding. I do agree, though, with other reviewers that the atmosphere of the dining area could use some tweaking. It has a 'resort' feel to it, in that the dining area is essentially in the lobby area, and as there are no shades/drapes, there is a full view of the pool area. While this is fine for a daytime meal, in the evening time, some shades/dividers in the lobby could elevate the ambiance & the atmosphere to match the stellar food and service!
The short rib was the best I've ever tasted The ambiance was excellent and service exceptional
We have been to Oltremare on several occasions and have always enjoyed wonderful meals. The service is friendly and attentive. We will continue to frequent the restaurant and introduce friends to the place.
We come most Sundays for brunch, it's our local spot. Probably the nicest smaller resort with a beautifully updated interior and upgraded rooms. Not to be remotely confused with the previous chain that owned it before. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to take a break in Islamorada, or experince a smaller, but very well chosen Italian dinner menu. Highly recommended.
Horrible experience. Went for Father's day brunch and was greatly disappointed. Limited menu availability, limited selection, the fish was not fresh. Went based on dinner reviews, might be better for dinner but definitely' not a place to go for Brunch.
Food was excellent! So was service! Table with a nice view!
Great wine list by the glass or bottle there is something for everyone on their wine menu
As you sit down your greeted with friendly smile and warm bread for the table
we shared a classic carbonara with fresh made pasta then had the whole rack of lamb cooked perfectly that came with mushrooms and a pea pruree
Dining in the hotel lobby is a little unusual, and having large, bare-chested men walk by while your eating is a little disconcerting. But the food was outstanding, the service excellent, the martinis cold and the wine list quite rewarding. Would love to see them use planters or sculptures to reroute lobby traffic on their way to the pool and divert them from the dining area.
Food outstanding, service fabulous and very nice ambiance
This restaurant sits right in the lobby of the hotel yet the atmosphere is intimate and upscale. The food is quite good light Italian and the pasta is to die for. The desert was incredible.
Excellent food, most creative menu in the area and well executed. Only complaint is dining room with too bright light, open to hotel lobby and a few too many families with children who can be loud and intrusive. Bar area is better with softer lighting and quieter atmosphere.
Surprising great food. Among the tops in the area, including Pierre's. Lighting too high. Needs work on ambiance.
Food, atmosphere and service are fabulous! Easy to get in! I know this secret will get out soon. Its hard to believe this quality exists in the Keys!
We celebrated New Years Eve and had a lovely meal. The service was great. We had a question on the oyster's topping (they were delish) and the waiter went to ask and the chef personally came out and spoke with us. The Bartenders were very friendly and helpful with recommending a wine. It is a great place.
Wonderful food, pasta made in-house and small serving sizes. Beautiful decor with well-spaced seating. The service is exceptional. The dishes are not typical U.S. Italian fare and all are served ala carte. The flavors are amazing and are a pleasant surprise. Excellent wine list too.
We had a mid afternoon Thanksgiving Day meal at Oltremare. It was an excellent meal with excellent service. Our meal was a delicious and creative take on Thanksgiving favorites. Our group of 4 would highly recommend it.
Hotel lobby/bar is clearly visible from the restaurant and is loud. Scallop app was delicious. Wife had ravioli and she said mediocre, I tasted one and it was overcooked.
Main course took forever to come. I had the pork chop which was so overcooked it was inedible. They comped that entree.
Maybe it was bad because it was the night before thanksgiving. I would not go back. Chef Michael or Ziggy would be better choices I think.
Loved everything about this place other than bright lighting and hotel lobby too close I prefer more romantic atmosphere
Now that we have dined at this wonderful restaurant four times, we know we will never be disappointed! Innovative selections, fine service and knowledgeable staff make it a delightful experience! The fine Italian preparation of varied foods is a pleasure to enjoy along with the correct beverage.
How wonderful to live nearby and be able to go frequently!
We went to Ottremare for our anniversary. The food was over priced and the service was lacking. The lighting was harsh. The dining area is very open, loud, and unromantic. Bottom line it is a was an very poor value.
Sophisticated setting for delicious food. Well-curated wine list.
Great food, attractive setting, excellent service. We were impressed with everything from cocktails to dessert. It was comparable to many of the restaurants on my New Orleans rotation, if that tells you anything.
Surprising gem tucked away in a newly remodeled resort. Beautiful ambience, attentive service, interesting wine selection. The grilled octopus melts in your mouth. The braised short rib with polenta was tender and flavorful. The fried key lime pie stole the show. Went there for my birthday dinner, not expecting much and left very pleased. We will definitely return.
