Food was decent, but we had a few issues, mainly with the service.
In our server's defense, she was pretty busy, but took a while to get back to our table. There were 4 of us, and each couple split one of the fajita trios. The first came and was set on our table steaming. Then nothing for over 5 minutes. No second dish, no tortillas, no sides. By the time the second dish of fajitas came, the first was no longer hot. Then we had to wait almost 5 more minutes for tortillas and sides.
My wife and I originally each ordered fajitas, then the server suggested we share a trio and said it was a large enough portion for both of us. It was not. We each had 2 small fajitas and ended up getting a second dinner later that night because we were both still hungry after we left.
This restaurant was highly recommended to us by several people, and I'm sure we just hit them at a bad time. Nonetheless, we were disappointed with our experience, and would not send friends there as a result.
Also, we ate on the bar side, and about half way through our dinner, some loud-ish music came on. That was all right, but the music kept skipping! Like it was a bluetooth speaker attached to someone's phone, and they were too far away for a good signal. We even asked what was wrong with the music and the employee kind of shrugged in a "yeah, it's annoying but what are you going to do" style. That was a let down too.
The food was pretty good but pay attention to your bill and order when asking for a cocktail. We asked for three house margaritas on the rocks and we were charged for premium. The food was good but will not return for this reason.
Family get together
It was supposed to be a celebration for our anniversary. We frequent the tequila factory. We live in Orange County but every time we are in San Diego we come here. I had requested a table by the window in the patio facing harney street so that we had a nice view of our favorite little getaway spot. We arrived 30 minutes early because we had just checked out of our hotel. I told the girl at the front that we were early but that I had a reservation and had requested in my reservation a specific area to sit. They sat us outside in the patio against a wall at a table that looked like it didn’t belong there. It wobbled so bad that our drinks would spill every time we made a move. All the while a table sat empty by the window for the entirety of our visit! Not the way I imagined this anniversary brunch would go. Very disappointed. Might have to try a new brunch spot in old town next time we visit.
The inside was nosiey, if it was warmer, outside would have been better!!!
The food was excellent. We had fajitas (steak and shrimp), enchilada del mar and a sampler. Everything was superb. The waiter was attentive and the mariachis fun.
Great food and atmosphere. Love the view and sizzling Fajitas
Service was excellent and food is great. Good margarita selection. I had a carne asada platter and it was excellent! The enclosed, heated patio dining area was a nice surprise (terrific view). Will definitely come back again.
I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi, and in my honest opinion it was delicious. I ate the whole thing. The vegetables were so good too. I could care less for the black beans. They were sweet and bland. I added salt and pepper but it didn't help. There chips were okay. The salsa wasn't that great. My boyfriend had a Chicken and cheese quesadilla with refried beans and a side of fries. He barely even ate a quart of it. I tasted it; I thought the tortilla was fresh and flavorful. The cheese was okay. The shredded chicken wasn't all that great. If they did a grilled chicken option instead of shredded. I think it would've made the chicken quesadilla SO much better. They added onions, tomatoes, or red peppers, and celery in it. I didn't like the vegetables in it. The refried beans were average nothing special. The fries were just disappointing, but I mean you are eating at a Mexican restaurant. But doesn't mean they have to be that bland. We didn't even use the condiments because it was crusty and had grime on it. They need to clean there bottles of sauces and change out the salt and pepper shakers. The salt had Black and Tan is stuff in the salt.
It was wonderful, my only comment/warning is that when I made the reservation I was not aware that on Saturday we could ONLY get the Brunch buffet (unlimited champagne). We nearly turned away as we were looking to take our out of country visitors for a Mexican meal & Margarita, but we elected to stay. Happily, they received on the buffet every tasty Mexican option possible and very, very free flowing champagne along with great service and a photo postcard to go!
Met our nephew and wife that we hadn’t seen in three years. It was a little to chilly for my wife to sit on the patio so they immediately seated us inside. Service was great she came by often to check up on us.
New Year’s Eve
My family loves this place. We come often for brunch and occasionally for happy hour. Food and service is always great, they keep the champagne flowing.
Service was VERY slow. Food wasn’t that good either, but the view was amazing. Won’t go back. Too many great Mexican restaurants in San Diego.
We went here on Christmas Eve and they weren’t even that busy but the service was very slow and terrible.
Always an enjoyable time. The food is great and the drinks are fantastic!
The food was so delicious. That was my favorite part. I loved our outdoor patio seat too. It was a beautiful day and I liked the umbrella for shade. The server was nice but often times left our drinks empty for a long time.
Great Service. Endless Champagne. Reasonable price. Limited american dishes.
Wait staff was impatient and removing dishes way too soon. Plus waitress spoke loudly into my ear numerous times. Also the waitress kept bumping into me as she was taking care of the table next to me. It was a bad experience and I do not plan on returning.
Perfect time with family as always!
Had a reservation for 6:30 and they told us when arriving that they were closing at 7. Good cold and not worth the price.
We loved Thanksgiving at Old Town Tequila Factory. We were definitely not disappointed. We got to have the traditional Thanksgiving food - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc., plus we got to indulge in some Mexican entree favorites. I'm hungry just writing this review!
Service was great. All staff was very helpful and attentive. Thank you for that.
The value for this event was amazing.
I've been here for lunch and dinners and it is just as amazing. I have recommended this restaurant to my many friends and family. Can't wait to go back.
Don't visit Old Town very often, but family was in from out of town so thought we would check it out. This place just reeks of tourist trap. The menu is seriously lacking and just does not reflect anything remotely close to what San Diego has to offer for Mexican cuisine. Very disappointing.
We booked a 12pm lunch for four people. At no time did anyone tell us Sunday is for Buffett only. We were seated and we still weren’t told anything about this for ten minutes until we asked someone. Then they told us it is $27 per person. We left and no one seemed to care.
Was good! The server could have been a bit more generous with the champagne... but the food was as good as ever.
Drinks took a long time to get to the table, service was slow in general. Burrito had very little meat, mostly rice and bean filler.
The food was delicious, great atmosphere and our servers were Awesome!! Will definitely be back!
This is a great location overlooking Old Town, if you sit on the patio. It was lovely. Everyone was cordial and attentive. They have a lovely sangria I recommend. I was there for breakfast so can only testify to breakfast foods. My eggs were fabulous. They have garage parking but I didn't know and parked on the street. It was fine. After breakfast we went across the street to the historical park. It was really nice especially the Mormon Battalion Museum.
We always have a great time during the Saturday or Sunday Champagne Brunch.
Great for large groups.
Been here several times and this was the first time we had HORRIBLE service...
Mixed plate fajitas were OK quality, not very generous portion for two people. Visiting for dinner on the extremely busy evening of Old Town's Day of the Dead festival, we anticipated some extra table service delays, but the team seemed extremely understaffed, with multiple requests needed for basic items like plates and drink orders, from not enthusiastic and harried servers.
The champagne was flowing the whole time we were there for the brunch buffet! There wasn't much "breakfast" food, but the omelet station was amazing!!
SERVER WAS WONERFUL, MUSICIANS SANG AT OUR TABLE. WE LOVED IT.
Food was good, however service was not the best. We were also charged for every little thing and never told. Order Mules for $10 with Tito’s and was charged extra $4, however ever told that. Extra MINI side (In the little silver metal cups) of sour cream was $2.50 and mini guac side was $5 and we were never warned about the extra cost for any of these items. Waitress was slow and forgot things while the restaurant was not that busy.
Disappointing for my second time back there.
Food is always consistent. Service, not so much...our servers have been hit and miss all 4 times weve been here. Sometimes, it takes a long time to get a coffee/beer/champagne refill. Other than that, great view, nice ambiance.
Went for my birthday dinner and we were left outside waiting for the check for a hour. I had to ask for water 5 times before I actually got a glass of water. Food was not that great - you’d be better off going to Fred’s if you want to stay in Old Town or any other place if you want Mexican food.
What an unexpected treat! Was pleasantly surpised by the quality and authenticity of the food and drinks. We had the fajita trio and everything tasted very fresh. The tortillas were like abuela used to make!
Only annoying thing were the sales people trying to push photos on us, and the mariachis trying to sell us a song. But they gotta make money somehow!
Would definitely go back.
Great food and great time!
Just for regular lunch great buffet for large groups.
I had the mahi and shrimp enchiladas recommended by our outstanding waiter. My wife had the standard fare combination dish plate. Though we both thought the food tasted great we were both concerned that the food could have been hotter.
