Old Oyster Factory
I made a reservation in December for a party of 8 for early January. The restaurant closed for repairs and never notified me. I had to scramble at the last minute to find a restaurant that could accommodate my group. It was a business dinner and the lack of communication made for difficult situation.
Can't comment on food .
It's off my list due to poor customer service.
Great sunset views over beautiful water setting.
Food and drink excellent
Very nice staff
Good food, great service
This was our first time to Old Oyster Factory. The setting at sunset over the marsh was lovely and the food was delicious, especially the gumbo and the soup of the day, cream of broccoli with crab. Our waitress was charming and helpful. And eating early from the Sunset Special menu made this a surprisingly inexpensive treat. We were pleased with our entire experience!
We were here on HHI for NYE vacation, this year and 6 years ago. We ate here both stays. It was great in 2014 and still is in 2020. This time we has Oysters on the half shell, scallops, grouper, seafood medley. All were perfectly cooked and excellent. The restaurant was very busy and wait staff were running, but we were well taken care of. We sat next to a large window and could watch the sun set. Excellent experience to start off the New Year.
New Year’s Eve dinner with my wife. Spectacular views across the marsh, great food (wife loves the calamari), and fabulous experience. Our favorite seafood restaurant on HHI!
Try he food was very disappointing and overpriced. Sad to return here after many years and will likely not return.
Cool sunset view from restaurant. Good atmosphere. Gumbo was good and the shrimp and grits were great.
What a great place to dine! The waiter was great tonight.
Such a great place for food, drinks and the ambiance of being by the water. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We had family from out of town who requested this restaurant based on their last visit and the high quality of oysters. My shrimp and scallop topped flounder was superb. Also a great gin martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives.
First time trying and it was delicious! Oysters, wedge salad, broiled seafood was all great! The key lime pie was exceptional!
Christmas Family Dinner
Had dinner reservations well in advance for family of four on Xmas eve. Arrived on time, the hostess takes us into bar to table for six. We ask to please be seated at another table. They have huge dinning room, but said the only table available was in Lounge area that was separate from bar. We took that table, but it was located next to where they dump all the dishes so it was very loud and distracting throughout our meal.
Just thought since we had reservations the hostess could have been a little more helpful with our seating.
Felt rushed, service was poor. Waiter forgot to bring a glass of wine etc and didn’t seem to really care
Our food was delicious. Our server James (young man in his second year of college) was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. We would recommend James and the restaurant. Will be back next time we are at Hilton Head.
Excellent experience, as usual. On of our favorites when we’re on the island. Service was great and the views, especially at sunset, are outstanding. Prices very reasonable. Best hush puppies on HHI.
Great food and outstanding service along with great price value
The Oyster Factory is a local restaurant gem! It has Fantastic food, drinks, service and a family atmosphere! Well managed with an excellent staff that provides a great dining experience for all!!! Highly recommended!
Great oysters, seafood and service! We;ll be back when in the area!
Great food and service!
The service and food were outstanding! My wife and I enjoyed ourselves immensely! We were joined by by Brother in Law and my wife’s sister as well as his mother and her friend. We will be sure to return for another outstanding meal on our return! 😃
An excellent restaurant. Prices are moderate. Good food selection. A little noisy at times. Suggest reservations.
Our server Peter was awesome. Great service and food!
Ambience was charming. Food was spectacular - had local oysters that were the best I’ve ever had, they were so fresh slightly briney at the beginning, but finished with a sweet taste. Everything was 5 star, but the real reason we will return is because of Frank our server. He was polite, professional, and so very genuinely friendly. He explained the dishes and all of his recommendations were spot on. They are lucky to have an employee like Frank. He was amazing.
Wife and I have eaten here several times and love it. Something's different this time. Pork chop was extremely salty and slightly undercooked. Shrimp cocktail tasted a little aged. Wife's rib eye was cooked correctly and tasted great.
Everything was good except from filet mignon had absolutely no flavor... seemed like chef forgot to season it?
Good food, nice setting. We went early and watched the sun set.
Family gathering for dinner so we had a larger than normal group of 8. We are from out of town and looking forward to some seafood. The food was very disappointing. I ordered half a pound of shrimp which had zero seasoning on them. My son had fried shrimp and fried cod which was very bland. My mother had a shrimp boil which was so over seasoned with Old Bay that she couldn’t eat most of it. I also had the fried green tomatoes which had some kind of salsa on them which overpowered the actual fried green tomato so that was disappointing as well. The hush puppies were good and I heard the mashed potatoes were good. But it definitely seems like the chef needs to revisit the seafood recipes.
I've never had tough grouper before. Ever. Anywhere. I rarely send food back, but for pice they charge, I wasn't going to settle. Waitress kindly offered to replace it or bring something else. I chose the salmon. It was adequate. Thicker, meaty part was cooked perfectly, but the larger flatter part was dry and overdone. Flavor was great. 2nd time there, and may be the last time. Great waitress, though.
Enjoyed the food and service. View was pretty as the sun went down. The desserts were really good, we ordered 3 different ones and they were awesome!
The food was exceptional and we really enjoyed our first time at the Oyster Factory! Our waitress Suzy was very attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.
We love this restaurant and have for many years. We were however, very disappointed when we arrived on Thanksgiving and were provided with a four course very limited menu. With a name like the, "Oyster Factory" we were so looking forward to a vast seafood selection. It should have been specified when reserving online that the menu was going to be preset and preset. Thank you.
Beautiful view and great food. Friendly staff who did not appear to be upset having to work Inn Thanksgiving.
Overall the dinner was good. The deserts were bad.
Always a great place to eat. The hushpuppies are the best of anywhere.
We participated in the special Thanksgiving four-course menu and enjoyed every morsel. The views are spectacular and the service was beyond excellent. We could not have asked for a better experience in choosing Old Oyster Factory.
Great food. 1st experience with Thanksgiving meal. Food was excellent. Service was wonderful making the Holiday so relaxing and special
Food, service and atmosphere were great! Recommend
The noise level was little high, but the food was very good. We caught a sunset at the very beginning of our evening. The view is one of our favorite things about OOF.
