Had an amazing experience as always. The food was absolutely perfect execution. The William Chris Mourvedre with the cauliflower and beef check was next level.

Amazing food, very different flavors from dish to dish. Can't wait to go back and try some different things. Tuna crudo, pork chop and the Legacy strip cut were phenomenal!

My only complaint would be how the tables were extremely close together. You could hear everyone’s conversation, breath their same air and get an almost first hand experience with whatever they ordered.

We used a gift card that our children gave us before the Pandemic closed things down. The gift card was two years old! We had an hour's drive to get to Olamaie so curbside was not an option for us over the two year's span. They honored the gift card! The food was wonderful as well as the service. We got friendly greetings walking into the the restaurant. Worth the trip.

We had an amazing time at Olamaie. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The food was exceptional. The only downfall was the wait for our food. We had to wait about 20-25 minutes for first course and over 30 minutes for our dinner after having our appetizers. Overall, we had a great experience. Thank you so much!

We had an absolutely delightful dinner at Olamaie last night. Every dish we tried was delicious, but some highlights were the gulf prawns and red rice, roasted cabbage, crudo, and pork chop with creamed greens. The service was also stellar. Helen was attentive, very helpful, and coursed our dishes perfectly.

We loved the place. Service was excellent. The appetizers and desserts were better than the entrees. That’s the only part of the food that disappointed a bit.

Get the biscuits! To die!

The restaurant is Very expensive. The have a wellness charge but we didn’t mind paying the prices knowing the staff is so well taken care of. They were not short staffed!

It’s worth going. Don’t get the pressed chicken. Only complaint.

Lovely dining experience!

Best meal I've had In years! Service was impeccable- waitstaff knowledgeable and friendly. Cocktails were creative and excellent. We shared appetizers- the smoked cabbage and the beef were amazing! And shared the main course of veal chop which blew us away. I cant recall the name of the dessert-my husband adored it) its fairly light with meringue. Oh yes and the waiter recommended a terrific Italian red wine.

It was a nice experience for a last minute reservation on NYE, but the the restaurant was incredibly expensive for what it is. The food was good, but not wow. It should be wow at this price point. We had seats at the bar in the back. The service was impeccable, though.

We attended for New Year's Eve. They had a set 4-course menu. We chose the ribeye for the entree. It was over-salted and just didn't have any flavor. On top of that, we were charged an additional $40 per Ribeye that was already on a set-priced menu. $115 per person. The first 2 courses were delicious. Wasnt a fan of the entree or the Desert.
Our Waitress was EXCELLENT as well as the overall service.

This has been and remains one of my favorite - if not the very top - restaurant in Austin. The consistent quality of food and service over the years - even through changes of chef and management - is truly impressive. Chef Michael’s vision for the food and space remains in clear focus. I am excited to watch new CDC Amanda Turner find her voice through the Olamaie framework. The hospitality of the staff is always masterful; warmth and personality pervades every step of service with grace. The dining room itself feels increasingly lived in, but retains its comfort and elegance. The cocktail and beverage program are strong enough to stand on their own merit. The price points have understandably risen through the pandemic era, but so, too, have the portion sizes. The included fee to preserve the quality of life and benefits to their staff is exemplary of true industry leadership. Olamaie continues to quietly shine with excellence from their lovely white home on San Antonio Street.

My friend and I came here three years ago and the food was amazing. We were excited to come back when Olamaie reopened but were disappointed with our experience. Service was nice but the food was not up to par with what we expected and how the restaurant presents itself. The biscuits, the butter, and the dessert we had (apple pecan cobbler) were delicious but everything else was either too salty or too sweet. A lot of the dishes were overly salty - red beans and rice from the shrimp appetizer, grits and sauce from the redfish main, and the brocolli and the cheese sauce in the side. Redfish was also dry and overcooked (including the thicker portion of the filet). The smoked beef belly was cooked very well but needed something other than sweet to balance the flavor.
I would say the high notes of the night were the atmosphere, the drinks, and the texture of their food - great bite in the beans and rice and wonderful flakiness and crunchiness of the biscuits and the cobbler.
We really wish we could have some better things to say about Olamaie because it's such a charming restaurant that takes care of its staff but for now, it has fallen off our list of favorite restaurants in Austin.

Overall experience was good, but disappointing given the accolades and cost. Service was ok, not super friendly or attentive. Just not what you’d expect at a place like this, especially given the minimum 20% mandate - which I’m more than happy to pay. Just thought it was ironic.

Food overall was too salty and just out of balance. First courses were better than the mains. If I came back I would just order all the first courses and a lot of biscuits (which are great and do live up to the hype). Main courses are very underwhelming. Pork chop was very dry and over cooked. Beef cheeks were overly acidic, salty, and overpowering. Red snapper was ok but the skin just soggy. The crab sauce was delish but the rice/risotto below was very salty. Whipped potato side was delish, but the texture was way too runny. It’s soup-like texture. We actually used it as a sauce on all the salty dishes which helped balance it out and saved our meal.

Dessert cobbler was good but you can’t really mess up a warm cobbler. Overall food and experience was just meh. Really wanted to like it but tonight wasn’t it. After a round of cocktails, a bottle of wine, and food, we spent $500 for three people and felt very underwhelmed.

Olamaie was one of our favorite dining spots before the Pandemic caused them to have to close their dining room. We are so thankful that they are open once again and the food is still so delicious and memorable. Of course the biscuits are such a talked about item but my favorite last night was the Red Snapper with some kind of “magic” rice! I don’t know how they make the rice so creamy and delicious but it was such a great canvas for the perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned red snapper. We also loved the Apple Cobbler! Great Anniversary dinner!

My tastebuds were made to taste food like I ate at Olamaie. The drinks were perfectly mixed, strong and so yummy. Everything we tasted made me want to melt into my perfect happy place and just utter little giggles of delight. Textures danced inside my gums and shot off little fireworks of joy throughout my brain and body. The servers were happy, helpful and accommodating in every way. The ambience and lighting made my wife's and my stress at driving in Austin traffic fade into a pleasant sea of forgetfulness.

Go to Olamaie! If you're hoping for a chicken fried steak with runny mashed potatoes and soggy green beans that's only good because of the overflowing salt and grease, like the table next to us, you're going to be very disappointed. If you want relaxation and romance, exquisite flavor, new angles on traditional dishes, food you've never tried before that tastes better than the best comfort food your mama used to make, go to Olamaie.

Our biggest regret was that we couldn't taste everything on the menu, and we ordered about half of the items! I guess we'll just have to go back, many many times. :-)
