Delicious food and a good wine selection. Not cheap but worth it!
Food and service was fantastic. Loved the place and will go back.
Birthday celebration! Great experience
Exquisite, sublime, delicate decadence. If you have the means, the shear artistry and brilliance that goes into every bit is something to experience. Expensive? Yes — but so is anything that is so fundamentally uncommon and impossible to duplicate by most of us. Just consider it an investment into your soul and pay the dang check.
What an impressive restaurant – it manages to be charming and sophisticated, inventive and approachable, totally buttoned up and incredibly warm and inviting all at the same time. The food is memorable, as is the experience. Highly recommend.
Celebrating a promotion at work, it was fun and the food was good. I wish they served smaller steak portions so I could pair it with some smaller dishes as well.
Beautiful food in a beautiful setting. The smoked cabbage was unique and full of flavour. Hoppin John was another dish totally vegetarian which I would not usually order but sounded so interesting. Turned out it was delicious! You must try the buttermilk croissant served with honey butter! Sort of like a croissant crossed with a scone. Staff are attentive and know their food. The shrimp Jefferson was also delicious. One of Austin's finest!
The food, service and ambience was good. The only thing that kind of bothered me was they knew it was my birthday I personally let them know when I made the reservation and they had a happy birthday note on the table. But at the end they sung happy birthday to another guest at the table next to me, but not me. I thought that was inconsiderate.
Had an anniversary dinner with my spouse at Olamaie. Our server, Casey, was wonderful and the staff as a whole was very responsive, vigilant for the need to clear dishes, fill water, fold napkins, refresh cocktails, etc. We went on the early end, so noise level was reasonable for the most part--it gets a bit loud as it fills up, but not sure that's unique to the space. The biscuits are off the menu but are not to be missed--crispy and buttery, served with a salted honey butter that is divine. Beware the Wagyu portion is gigantic, enough to feed two, esp considering it is served with two (delicious) sides--creamed kale and foamed cauliflower. We had a wonderful time and would love to go again when in Austin.
Great anniversary place.
Impeccable Service
Unique spin to old classics appetizers
The food was excellent. Great service. One of the best biscuits ever. Highly recommend.
Had a great time dining here. The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. Will tell all my friends about this restaurant.
Food is very good and service top notch.
Our first visit to Olamaie and it lived up to its reputation! Food and service exceptional. Can’t wait to go again
This was my second visit. The menu had changed a bit, but still truly outstanding. Everything we had was great, but the ones that stood out were the broccoli, beef tartare and red snapper. Definitely order the biscuits as well.
Some interesting and lovely flavours. The BBQ cabbage starter was very tasty. Pleasant ambiance.
The porch was great! Noise level inside is ok as long as you aren’t sitting next to the kitchen.
Great food and service. The fields peas appetizer was so good, I was tempted to order it as my meal! And the biscuits... there are no words.
Very creative menu and well executed. Highly recommend.
Even though the menu is limited, we were able to find several options to choose. The red snapper and biscuits were delicious!
Dined on a Tuesday @8:30pm. Excellent service, excellent food! Menu changes every day, all local. Good wine list, interesting craft cocktails. The biscuits are TO DIE FOR. Really. Better than Fixe, but more $. I will definitely go back!
Olamaie has the best food in Austin. Easy parking is just the start of a great dining experience as you then enter the restaurant winding through the side into a welcoming outdoor seating area. The indoor seating area is intimate and very comfortable where you can see the action in the kitchen while being served by a very attentive waitstaff. The innovative menu has many offerings that delights the palette with a variety of flavors. Chef Michael continues to outdo himself with the James Beard Foundation continually recognizing him for his culinary prowess.
Great food and fantastic service. Very expensive.
Lovely place to visit while in Austin - excellent service, very nice wine list.
Hmmmm wanted to love it. Food was just okay. Pork chop really tough. Tables were so close together. We were at a table for two that was squeezed between two other tables. Hard to hear each other. And lots of servers and service is choreographed. But food was slow. Finally asked about appetizer. And entree was not hot by the time it got to the table. It’s a beautiful space. Maybe just not the best night for them. Biscuits were great.
Food leaned a little on salty side
Amazing food
Wonderful cocktails and flavorful food! We split the broccoli salad with homemade farmer’s cheese. Never had a salad like that- very innovative. And my wife had the most tasty hoppin’ Johns. I was a bit envious but my grouper was cooked to perfection in a lovely cream sauce. Such a great experience!
I’m a huge Olamaie fan, but the service was just OK. The wait staff didn’t acknowledge our requests for food to be delivered in a particular order and the food itself took a long time to come out. For one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Austin, it was a bit of a letdown.
The food is good, but i had a drink poured in my lap by the waiter, who comped "that " round of drinks. For the money there are a lot better places
Not a good value and hard to sort out a reservation.
Such “simple” food make so special. Those biscuits...
A delicious meal, great service, warm surroundings. A great evening!
Great food and service; do wish the prices were a bit more reasonable and that the environment was quieter.
Wonderful experience at Olamaie.
The Valentine's menu desserts were very disappointing.
My son and I dined late on a week night and enjoyed every moment. The rooms were pleasantly low-lit and decorated with spare elegance. The food was expertly prepared with unexpected flavors and combinations. Delicious.
I paid $130 for steak that should have been pink, medium rare, but it was translucent and chewy and raw (see pics). Even after they "re-cooked" it. The ambience and staff were very nice. I feel like I paid for the experience. But the steak itself was not worth $130. It was a high grade piece of meat that was utterly destroyed. The bark was over seared and extremely over seasoned. Maybe to make up for the lack of flavor in the meat itself.. and maybe to make up for the meat not being cooked. Either way, at least I can now be satisfied that I can very literally make a better $12 steak at home. And although I paid a pretty penny for this huge disappointment, at least I won't be wasting any more money here ever again. I consider that savings in the long run. The famed biscuits.. they were very good. But highly overrated. The sides and apps were surprising, flavorful, and good. The Grouper was just kind of plain and okay.. the mushroom sauce upgraded it to decent. Overall, this place isn't worth top 20 in Austin.
One of the best experiences food and service wise I've had all around. But also I have never spent as much on a dinner for 2. It was noisy, but it was the day before valentines and quite crowded
Great service all around combined with rare ability to make amazingly ornate, delicious dishes that aren't pretentious.
Service was perfect, food was excellent, biscuits amazing (we took some home).
