We just love Okane. Always great everything- service, freshness of food and creativity of the chefs.
Exceptional quality sushi. Not busy on a Monday night. Servers will make suggestions if desired. Street parking can be difficult.
The sushi is the real deal- I think the sushi chef was properly trained and knows how to cut the fish and present it well. Melt in mouth deliciousness.
Had various sashimi to start- of note, hirame was particularly good, salmon was just meh. The hand roll with salmon skin, uni & ikura was stellar. Could have eaten another 4-6 of those alone!!
The salmon & ikura ochazuke as the last item (“shime”) was perfect. We ordered two but the waitress placed only one order by mistake. Ultimately it was fine for the two us to split it but this item also, i would’ve totally enjoyed had I been given a full serving.
Our go-to for excellent sushi
The girls working tonight were off. They need to be trained. Been there and at Omakase many times, but will not return. Nigiri was as disgusting as the amateur service. You have failed.
Great food, service was just ok.
Wanted a decent and tasty Japanese lunch near my athletic club in SOMA. Checked Michelin rated ones and Okane review looked to be a go. It was 1:15 and only a few tables were already served. I ordered nigiri: amaebi and asked if they fried the head which they do; unagi and maguro. All served together except the fried amaebi head. The sushi su and rise was very good. The maguro didn’t have much flavor; the unagi was delicious ; and the amaebi was somewhat mushy. The amaebi deep fried head was oerfectly prepared. I was still hungry so I ordered a Okane temaki ( shiso, salmon skin, salmon roe, spicy maguro) which was a very very small serving. I was still hungry but knew it would be excessively expensive to order anymore so I stopped. While I was still eating and chewing my food, the white waitress starting removing my plates in front of me!! I tilde her I am not finished as still had shoga to eat. I was in disbelief that she didn’t bother to let me finish my meal at this overpriced place. It was so so rude! 6 small nigiri pieces was $29 and the small temaki was $11! $40 and I was only 1/3 full.. $50 plus with tax, health tax and tip!
Very small servings, pricey and they din’t let you finish your meal without intruding on your dining space! And no one was there!
I’m vegan and they always have delicious vegan options.
very good sushi spot for nigiris. The rolls are also good but I would recommend for people looking for good sashimi or nigiri pieces. Rice was well seasoned and the fish were fresh.
The sushi was expensive for the quality. This place is OK, but you can get better fish for less elsewhere.
Delicious food. Great selection of Sake. Service was wonderful. Staff knowledge of fish and dishes was spot on. Music selection wasn’t my favorite but overall it was a great experience.
Greatest sushi anywhere except maybe right next door. 🥰
Food’s good. Prices are reasonable. Please improve your service
Mother's day brunch was not great.
The fatty tuna is exquisite. So fresh and just melts in your mouth.
The roll was delicious, the sashimi a bit overpriced. It took very long for the food to come. And there is no explanation nor anything offered while waiting for the ordered food to arrive.
Great service and the food is amazing!!
Consistently delicious and great service.
Lunch at Okane was a wonderful experience. As a solo diner, sometimes ordering sushi can be complicated, because you want to try so many things, yet most things come in sets of 2 or 5 (appetizers, sushi/sashimi, etc.). At Okane, they were happy to accomodate me and adjust the serving sizes so I could try multiple menu items in smaller size portions. The highlights of my meal were the fresh ikura (salmon roe) nigiri, the sea urchin (both from Hokkaido (Japan) and Santa Barbara) nigiri, and the Salmon Aburi with Avocado appetizer (a la carte menu). Service was top notch and the food was fresh and delicious. Thanks Okane!
Always great there. Fish is fantastic. Try sake-glazed cod!
I enjoy Okabe. The food is very good, and the staff is very informative and helpful.
Always fresh, always delicious! Fantastic friendly wait staff!
My wife and I come here all of the time. We love everything about it.
Very disappointing experience at Okane this time. We come here all the time and the food is always superb, but it wasn't this time. Our nigiri was over seasoned, tofu was cold and the service was terrible. Because we are regulars, we will come back and really hope that we will have our normal amazing experience.
Great spot. Great people working there. Food was thoughtful and delicious. I understand margins and food cost, it was a little more expensive than I had thought but I understand why. Would certainly go again. Great meal.
Great, as always. The food is superb, both cooked and sushi.
lovely place. Okane is our favorite place to go for sushi.
Overall it was an okay experience. Drinks took about 30 minutes to get to the table and our order was not placed so we waited over and hour for any food. However, the staff was very apologetic about the situation and comped our meal. Food, once received was good, but not a great first impression with service and the price we could have paid for food and drink.
Great place for sushi and other small Japanese dishes
Excellent food and friendly service. Decor and ambience are nice, and makes a relaxing setting for lunch.
Came here as a party of four and had a great experience. Food was good and seating was comfortable.
Love Okane! It's my favorite sushi spot in San Francisco.
Small intimate location with excellent service. Parking was incredibly easy for a weekday dinner.
Nice ambiance and delicious sushi. Good variety of food in the menu
As soon as we arrived, they had a table ready for our reservation, which was very nice. The waiter was very friendly and service was good for the most part. There was just a special roll that we ordered later that took a bit of time to come out. But other than that, the food was great and all of the fish was very fresh!
The food was great. I appreciate the fact the sushi chefs sent out my order with my light selections (yellowtail, snapper, mackerel) first and heavier richer selections (bbq eel, sea urchin, sweet shrimp with fried heads) last. My gf got 2 rolls, forgot names but one had a crunchy lotus root on it amazing!
Service was terrible. Waitress came unprepared with no pen, couldn't remember our order as we spoke, had to retrieve pen and then start over. Never refilled or water. Had our wallets out and napkins folded on the table as a gesture of 'we're done now' and never got followed up with for 20 mins. Sloppy experience.
For $100, 2 rolls & 6 nigiri, sister resto of a michelin star resto. No value. Will not return.
They offer reservations, but when you get there they dont really have a table reserved for you, we hot the communal table even with reservations made 2 weeks in advance. The service was terrible, but the food was delicious.
Soup served with very little broth. Tea served lukewarm. Hard to talk to waiter.
