Open Table consistently recognizes Nuvolari’s with Most Romantic and Neighborhood Gem awards. New Orleans food critic Tom Fitzmorris gives it four stars. Nuvolari’s– an unhurried culinary experience, just two blocks from Lake Ponchartrain. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Food and service was GREAT.
Everything was wonderful!!! We are from Washington DC.
I have always loved Nuvolari's. It has been consistent for years. I have never been disappointed.
We loved to eat there but we were still unable to get the table we like ..we like to sit at the round table in front..so hopefully next time we can ...but all and all it was a wonderful experience ..
2 staff had wished my fiance and I congratulations on our anniversary; very nice, didn't have to say anything but they did. Attentive service and polite. Food was delivered promptly and was VERY tasty. We will be back next year!
Been here dozens of times. Food and service consistently very good. Ambiance the same as it always is. I like it. Two persistent negatives: the chairs have always been the most uncomfortable you can buy for a restaurant. Second, the pricing is a bit too high, everything considered. Not a place where you go for “value”. Overpriced. You’re looking at $80 per person if you have a couple glasses of wine or cocktails. Other than that, it’s one of the best restaurants in Mandeville.
We had never been to Nuvolari’s before so we were very excited to try a new Italian spot down by the lake. Walking in, the atmosphere inside was very welcoming. The lighting was low and warm and everyone was smiling while enjoying their meal. The waitress was very sweet and served us well. Drinks were mighty tasty! Although, Done Julio Añejo is darn good anywhere... Anyway, we ordered the 8oz filet mignon and the linguine with meatballs. The steak we good. Medium-rare but the pasta was a bit of a disappointment. We will have to go back to try a few things, might have just been a bad night for linguine!
We had three different dishes, and two separate deserts. All were outstanding. Server was extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. Second time eating there. Will definitely be back.
Hostesses were less than accommodating with a reservation made a week prior to give us a decent table . We probably had the worst table in the restaurant . Regular customers there too .
Nuvolaris is always a favorite go-to restaurant for good food, service and atmosphere.
Slow service, food ok nothing to write home about we had flies buzzing our table all night. My flank steak was tuff as leather, my dates salmon was really good
Nuvolares never disappoints! Our annual anniversary dinner was no exception. We were a party of three. It was extremely busy even at 6 when we arrived. But the staff handled the situation very well. We had the Oysters with fontina, and the scallops for starters. Both were on point! No one does a better Caesar salad than Nuvolares. The onion soup with shredded beef was a special and delicious. Our entrees were the flank steak, the drum, and the salmon. Just DELICIOUS! The service was attentive despite the crowd. The value for the meal was good too. The evening was perfect!
Neighborhood gem. Food and service is always excellent.
The food is always amazing , wine selection is first class , and service , waitstaff, staff is always on point and outstanding... definitely our favorite home town place to eat ... we love it ...
Seated right away. Waitress was accommodating
, cordial and informed us of our choices. Food was delicious, atmosphere was lovely and not too noisy. Favorite place
Amazing service and food!!!
The meal and beverages are forgettable. I thought the fish was overcooked and the pasta was swimming in sauce. The cocktail was not what I ordered and the wine tasted like grape juice.
The waitstaff is young and experienced but enthusiastic.
If you have a sophisticated palate, this isn’t the place to dine.
Great Birthday celebration! The food was awesome!
Great Food. Highly recommend!! Ask for Stephanie or Eadie for your waitress.
Enjoyable dinner. Wait staff was excellent. My friend ordered one of the week’s dinner offerings and only ate 1/4 of it (swordfish). I ordered the grilled fish (drum- a favorite) from the regular menu coupled with a nice Riesling wine. The fish melted it my mouth; it was so good! Berry cobbler for dessert, also delicious. I was disappointed for my friend but one of the specialty coffees made her happy. Yes, I’ll go back.
We recently celebrated my Dad's 87th birthday at Nuvolari's. It was a great experience. Our server, Shane, was very attentive and even found a candle to go in the fruit cobbler. Always a great place for celebrations or date night. Looking forward to my next Nuvolari's dinner!
One of the best meals I've had on the Northshore. We'll be back.
Food and service was great. Osso buco was cooked well but under seasoned but soup, oysters, salad and duck breast were delicious . It was wife’s birthday and waiter put a candle in the dessert.
Great good and great service! Haven’t had a bad experience yet! Highly recommend!
Lasagna wasn’t what I had remembered. It was cooked in a small container and was “watery.” Maybe not baked long enough? Too much salt on sheepshead.
Salads were great and so was the bread! Drinks, wine great as was the service.
Nuvolari's is where we always celebrate our wedding anniversary. This year it was Thursday, June 6 (28 years)! Our server was John, who did an excellent job of tending to our needs. Not too fast and not too slow! Attentive and courteous! My husband had the 8 oz. filet, cooked to perfection. I had the red snapper special over pasta which was also excellent. And of course, we had the Death by Chocolate cake and Nuvolari coffee to top off our meal. We had leftovers for sure!
Everything was perfect, and our server Saia, did a great job; We always love going to Nuvalori’s; one of our favorite restaurants!
Excellent meal and service
There are many good resturants in Mandeville. Nuvolaris has the best atmosphere and ambiance and bar! the food is mostly good but not the best. also we had a fish dish special that cost $28 -but the server suggested adding the crabmeat topper which we did order but when we got the bill we were shocked to see that the crabmeat topper cost $15!!!. be careful what you order and always ask for the cost!!
Excellent food, wonderful fish special with pecan crust (slightly over salted). Wonderful crab salad and pasta dishes. Warm bread and butter/oil to die for! Wine list is reasonably priced. Promptly seated, very good service. Have returned many times!
The Drum was perfect. Service and atmosphere on point.
Probably caught on a bad evening (Mother’s Day). Our table was in a far corner so My view wad a wall four feet away. It was also cold. I had the fish whose menu description sounded wonderful but the “topped with crab” was underwhelming since the crab was meager to almost none existent, the rice dish was no better than boxed and too wet. My dinner partners spaghetti with marinara was satisfactory. I will however try this restaurant again on a non-celebratory weekend. Its highly recommended and I am assuming it was the circumstances.
Went there for Mothers Day with our kids. The food was very good and service was good as well. A little bit tight seating but other than that we enjoyed it. Glad we gave them a second chance, we had tried to book a room for a gathering last year and left multiple messages but none were returned, probably a better place to have a meal rather than a gathering.
It was fairly busy but our server was not as attentive and we would have liked. She picked up all of our utensils along with our appetizer plates and served our entres without knives or forks. She did compensate with a new loaf of bread to go home with our leftovers.
Filet was inedible. Would not feed it to my dogs. When I complained to waitstaff I was told they would let the chef know. Any decent established restaurant would not have charged me once they saw the fat laden filet at the end.
Went to celebrate our anniversary at what we thought was a nice, quiet, fine dining establishment. This place once was that, no longer. There was a band playing music way too loudly, which made people speak very loudly and it was very annoying. Since when does a band play music in the dining room of a “fine Italian” restaurant?? Absurd. The food was sub par, my chicken over cooked and my spouses steak under cooked. Service was below average at best. Chairs were uncomfortable for both of us and did I mention the dining room was LOUD!!!? Terrible experience all the way around. We won’t return.
Always great! Our favorite intimate dining Old Mandeville!
flank steak was extremely tough. otherwise it was fine
Excellent food, peaceful atmosphere. A great evening.
Nuvolari's is an old stand by for us - despite living in Covington, it is always worth the drive and is a home to many excellent social and dining memories.
