Nugget Casino Resort - Oyster Bar
We were celebrating a birthday, and the waitress was great, as was the food...AS ALWAYS
Sat In The Lounge For Happy Hour Instead..Big Mistake..Unstaffed.. Slow And Food Like Warm!
Love the food here. We come fairly often and it has always been wonderful. It can get very loud when busy.
Very enjoyable and tasty food. We dine here at least once every time we come to Sparks.
Excellent Across the board. Still one of the best restaurants in the Area after all these years. Well done!
Our server was great, but the service was exceptionally slow. There was an event, hosted by the Casino, so I don't understand how they don't have enough staff to handle the crowds. It is a casino with thousands of employees. To top it off, my order was not correct and the food was just mediocre.
Our food was good and our server was outstanding 🙂🙂
In all the many, many years we've come to the Oyster Bar, I've had only one thing I did not like and that is the lobster bisque ... too dark and strong seasoned. Everything else is delicious!
Food was good except oysters on half shell had no flavor and were rubbery. Service was slower than usual as they were busy.
Cool old school seafood place. They were slammed when we arrived a little early for our reservation but they were able to sit us after a short 10 min wait. (We were 30 mins early for reservations).
Service was great. The food was really good except the calamari (it was very salty). I had the 10-piece seafood basket, a dozen raw oysters, and the wife has the shrimp scampi.
Wouldn't you think a restaurant named "Oyster Bar" would serve fresh, tasty Oysters?? I mean really YUMMY Oysters??
Well... NOT this place!!
I realize most people don't understand that SMALLER Oysters are generally more tasty (when eaten directly from the shell).
Thus, many establishments offer the Larger ones... (stupidly) believing "larger is better." Not so...
Well, this restaurant sold ONLY Large Oysters. NO Selection, whatsoever. The price was fine... $15 for a dozen. Seemed tantalizing. It didn't turn out that way.
These Oysters had absolutely NO flavor! None.
Not only that, service was extremely slow & inefficient... the free bread was dry & tasteless... and their "Signature" Pan Roasts had VERY LITTLE FISH in 'em. Again, disappointing.
We've eaten here in the past & enjoyed the experiences. New ownership has apparently downgraded this experience.
The place is also EXTREMELY LOUD!! I mean LOUD!! Sure, it was full o' folks getting ready for an outdoor concert this evening... but those loud voices were almost drowned out by the sounds of the STEAM Cookers. It was REALLY annoying when combining the two obnoxious noises!
The Drinks were good... luckily!
Do yourselves a favor... avoid this place.
We also stayed here at the Nugget.
If you LOVE the smell of tobacco smoke in the Casino & on your walk to/from the restaurant, you will enjoy yourself here.
As for our lodging here... the room was fine! No problem with the room. (But pack a lunch for the walk to/from the Guest parking area to the Front Desk for check-in. It's a Long Walk, Folks! A long, smoky walk...)
Yuk! Just recalling our experience here is quite unpleasant...
Your restaurant is fine and the people work hard.
However, your event center is a joke. Enterance to the place is poorly thought out and does not have the customer in mind.
There should be more entrances and signs to direct people to the different section
Entrances. We are in our late 70's, have been to john cash, beachboys, etc events. We gave up and went home the over priced tickets are in the garbage.
Never again at your place.
I don't get much sea food living in the Sierras, but I come from a seaside village. The food was deliciously filling, and satisfying. I would go back again. The service was good, with a conscientious waitress, but she was almost running due to how busy it was. The decor was perfect, with a relaxing ambience.
Service was very slow
My entrée came out and then the appetizer came out did not like that The timing of the dinner was off.
Great waiter and delicious food. I would definitely recommend it and come back next time my husband and I are in Reno.
Been to the oyster bar every time we have gone to casino however this time food was lacking flavor and the way the manager was treating employees in front of us was uncomfortable to say the least wont go back
It took 15 minutes before we placed our order and we didn’t get our drinks until after the food came out chick was 20 minutes after that. We all the lobster bisque which was cold. The oysters we not fresh. The shrimp was warm and bad as well. Very disappointing all around.
Don’t go when there is a large event. We reserved a table the same day as the first concert was being held at the new Nugget Event Center. The kitchen could not keep up with the orders when every table was in use. We waited 45 minutes for our food after we ordered. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. The food was decent, yet should not have taken so long to be served.
Always fresh bread when you are seated, and pan roasts made to order that are fantastic!
Friendly staff and good service - always enjoy eating there.
Food was good....Oysters on half shell were bland. Service was very good.
Oyster Bar is a good place. Customer service was great and friendly servers
Receptionist was checking in people and also cashier. She did not know how to cashier. Totally inept. Waited over 15 minutes to be seated and then had to be seated by the person who clears the tables. Then waited 15 minutes for wait person. They never showed. Went to the bar where Gerardo and Lettie did a great job of waiting on us. Meanwhile the chaos in the restaurant continued. The manager on duty for the hour we were there sat up at the oyster bar on her personal cell phone eating a pizza. Not once did she get up to assist her staff. This place is not managed well. Not enough people to handle the customers and not enough people to clean. Although the food was good beware if you eat here service will not be good because of management unwillingness to staff properly and help out when needed.
Great happy hour menu...delicious!!
We are planning another visit soon.
Menu was outdated n many things not available. As an “Oyster Bar” they only had raw oysters, fried oysters or oyster shooters. Not the impression you would get from the name.
Great service and food. Staff from hostess, waitress and bus boy was attentive and did a great job
1st time back in a couple of years. Food was every bit as good as I remembered. Service was good considering how packed the place was and they were hustling to get things out. It was VERY noisy made it hard to talk.
Great as always. It remains a wonderful dining spot in the Reno area.
Myhusband and I stopped in to the Ouster Bar for a dinner before attending the Air Supply Concert. It hit the spot with lots of variety of seafood on the menu and fantastic service from our server Brandon. He was very attentive to our needs and made sure we had a relaxing , comfortable and delicious dinner. If we have an occasion to dine here again we will ask for Brandon !
Extremely friendly service. If not mistaken, a slight change in the menu. The place was full on a Saturday night. Have been patronizing this resturant for years, just keeps getting better.
Made reservations effortlessly via opentable. We were eating dinner before a concert. Restaurant was very busy, long line, but w reservation we were seated immediately. Food was very good. Service was great with a smile. We enjoyed ourselves.
We got in at our reservation time. Waited at our table for 15 minutes before anyone came over. After half an hour, and no food or drinks, we got up to leave. We spoke with the manager and she said it was busy. No apologies. Funny thing...it wasn't even that busy. Maybe half the tables were full.
Service was way to slow. Food was worth waiting for.
Food was very tasty, with lots of options. Wait staff was attentive. Decor was nautical, and very appropriate. Will go again.
Attentive service but the kitchen was behind on orders and the dining room short staffed. Nevertheless the staff that was there worked very hard and couldn’t have been more friendly.
Our food was great except the lobster bisque was like a giant blob of cooked cornmeal with pieces of lobster in it. Our service was another story the employees just don't care which is sad this restaurant has been around for a very long time but the regular servers have been replaced with new people who don't seem to care about any customer service at all. Our waitress was terrible it started with her stopping by the table to let us know she wouldn't be with us for 5-10 minutes because she was busy with another table, there was no offer to get us drink while we were waiting which might have worked in her favor better. She did finally come to take our food order but no mention about drinks so we ordered with our food. We had a shrimp cocktail for the appetizer, she came to the table and informed us she ordered a combination cocktail and was that okay with us? Yes it was okay and it was delicious but still no drinks. When our food came it everything was really good except the lobster bisque. Oh and yet still no drinks we had to ask for them. We did eventually get our drinks and finished our dinner. The waitress cleared a few plates and then disappeared again. I did eventually see her return to the restaurant with her coat on (must have been break time). When she came back to the table we told her about the bisque which was still full, she then stated " Yeah not everyone likes it, do you want anything else instead? We were all done with our food at this point so we said no. She then brought us our check with the bisque still on it, and the extra charge for the combination cocktail she messed up the order on. There were two of us splitting the bill and if it were up to me I would have left her 5% for a tip but she did get 18% . Also when we were leaving I let the cashier know we were really unhappy with the service but the lady couldn't have cared less. As a local I'm hesitant to return.
Met friends who had never been there before and we were all pleasantly surprised by the overall high quality of the restaurant. I really liked the wine and the shrimp pan roast was superb, usually don’t have desert but our food server stated that the cheesecake was worth having, I said no initially as the strawberry topping didn’t sound appealing to me, but she asked what I preferred and I said some raspberries would go well and she disappeared only to come back with cheesecake coverered in raspberries. It was great.
I will return soon to enjoy another complete meal with all the side benefits.
This is my new favorite restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and the ambiance is great.
the avocado shrimp sandwich was gross. Gross white bread open style with huge shrimp and chopped up avocado. Disappointed. the stew was meh. won’t be back can get better food anywhere
The food was delicious as always. I was disappointed that there seemed to be no hostess. Despite my reservation I had to wait 30 mins for a table
