Food was awful
Very poor food... very greasy and unappetizing for a pretty expensive price too. Would not recommend this restaurant. Feel bad for the wait staff who were pleasant, but a little under-trained.
Our server was very attentive. The boys enjoyed their pizza and burgers while I had a salad. We will return soon!
We went here for dinner on the last night of our vacation. It was very windy and they closed the outside so we sat inside (no big deal). We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The food came before our drinks (2 wines and 2 margaritas..) but with that being said the burrata was wonderful. For dinner, the prime ribs and shrimp and linguini came out warm and delicious. My mom wanted to add a little protein to her salad which the waitress didn’t completely understand, but she did explain that the salmon meal is $29 and she could have it on top of the salad she wanted which she did anyway. I had the fish special which was fine, not the best meal I have had. We sat there for over 20 minutes with no water refills and the waitress didn’t even ask if my mom wanted another drink for awhile after she finished hers. Also, there were kids watching a movie on their iPad very loudly next to us, which really ruined the ambiance.
Overall, we did enjoy the food. The price was on par with the area. The service was pretty awful and hopefully that management makes some changes for the future.
Great food and service. We went there for a date and it was a good choice. We loved the burrata and crab cakes dip
The staff was so friendly and the food and drinks were wonderful!
This is always a lovely special-occasion restaurant when we visit Turtle Bay. Can’t beat the view, service, and friendly staff. Menu is not large but varied and everything comes out prepared and presented great. It is, however, a high-end menu and while I did not expect it to be otherwise, the prices just seem to be a tad high. The serving sizes and cocktail sizes are okay but not what I’d call a great value. Maybe they just don’t care about that.
Honestly it was a small step above cafeteria food, we simply paid more. 1/2 empty restaurant with a boring ambiance was a little let down for our last night out but all the other restaurants were full ...
Our waitress was a horrible. Second time here. We brought our two young teenagers with us this time. My son didn't like anything on the menu. I asked for the kids menu.. she wouldn't give us one. She told him he should pick something off the regular menu. And they are strict about 12 and under only. Are they carding teenage children for meals? Or is just Kayla or kaylin? She did not look us in the eye and was not personable so ...This is waitress made us feel unwelcome. Ridiculous that He couldn't order something off the kids menu. We were honest and said they were 15 and 13. We could have lied and said one was 12. I wouldn't set an example for my kids like that. Absolutely wrong. They are still picky kids. Every single other restaurant we went to, gave us a kids menu if we asked. Even the other ones on the turtle bay property. I've been places and let me order off the kids menu. Even Disney world doesn't care who orders off the kids menu.
Wonderful experience at Kula Grille. We were seated outside with a wonderful views. Our server, Thomas, was attentive and helpful with the menu choices. Cocktails were very good and the food, crab dip, Caesar salad, and artichoke pizza, was well-prepared and delicious. We would definitely return on our next visit to the North Shore.
We stay at Turtle Bay Resort every year and were very happy that the quality of food and service just keeps getting better and better. Both breakfast and dinner was delicious and the service excellent!
Unfortunately, this time we were hit by stormy weather and could not enjoy full dinner menus, only served with limited menus (like picnic box lunches such as bargers, sandwitches, soup and pasta) on paper dishes due to power outage. We wanted to eat grilled shrimps, steaks etc.
I just spent a week at turtle bay and ate at the Kula grill every day. The night of 2/10 the power had been out for a few hours and the menu was scant with ridiculous prices; but overall I liked the food and ambiance was great
Unfortunately the hostess turned people away with half the tables empty and didn’t advise anyone that bar seating is open seating...
Had the fish of the day, Opah. It was prepared wonderfully. Our server, Thomas was terrific.
Great food and beautiful views.
My husband and I ate dinner on the turtle bay resort property. Knowing that it’s on the property and there are limited options, we were prepared for a more expensive dinner. However, with that we expected better quality. My husband ordered the strip steak rare. When it came it was well done and had absolutely no flavor. It didn’t taste like it came from a grill, it wasn’t even seasoned with salt and pepper and again it was cooked well done!! My husband, being in the food industry at one point in his life wouldn’t return it or say anything to the waitress because he knew it wasn’t her fault. He was also really hungry and ate it. That being said, it was an extremely disappointing dining experience and it pained me to pay $40 for a steak that tasted terrible and wasn’t even CLOSE to being cooked correctly. We will make plans to eat off the property for the remainder of our visit.
My fish was beyond dry. I informed the waiter, and he did not know how to handle the situation and just stared blankly at me. I ended up eating the fish because he refused to do anything about it.
the food and drinks were horrible but the service was amazing!
We’ve eaten several times at Kula Grill. This was the most disappointing. Fish was dry and Ribs not good. But our server was excellent. Lauren. We were celebrating a birthday and she was very accommodating
It’s okay typical hotel restaurant
Great, great and great service by Carlos, the manager and Tiger, one of the waiters.
By far the best value at Turtle Bay.
We spent 11 nights at the hotel and we ate 7 times at Kula.
If you are looking for very good food, reasonable prices and excellent service, this is the place to go!
See you next time! Aloha!!
Christmas dinner was a disappointment.
Expected more for a Christmas dinner. Food was only fair - prime rib was chewy - no taste. Would have been willing to pay more but get quality.
The food could be much better. But the service and ocean front dining was spectacular.
Good setting, food was good, not great, but good. Works great if you’re at the resort.
Thanksgiving dinner was very disappointing. Food was like something from a school cafeteria. Not what I expected from Turtle Bay or the price.
Thanksgiving buffet had a good variety to choose from. The server for our table was friendly and attentive.
Second time eating dinner here and the food really just isn’t good. Breakfast looks better, and harder to mess up.
What a great surprise!! My mom and I ate at the bar..THE most spectacular ocean front bar..with the best bartenders..even though I just had a mocktail n coffee. Carrie n Andy made us feel like queens. We had a vegetarian flatbread. Mmmmmm!!! Then, I finally got to try Chef Mike's Kula Bomb chocolate dessert. OMG! Thank you Carlos for a fun night..live music and the sunset was ONO!! And I thought next door was the best. Wow..you guys are really cool! A hui hou!
Kyla Grill was good. Food was good. The location was very convenient. It was a nice dinner location with family.
Great Service and Great Food!
The food was ok but not for this hotel and the cost of the food. The service was deficient. The waitress forgot the bread and then brought it with the appetizer and the main course about 2-3 minutes apart.
Cocktails were not good and expensive. Food was mediocre especially for the price. Service was ok. Don'waste your time or money. I don't have any problem paying a premium price for excellent food and service but this restaurant was a huge disappointment! My husband's tuna was raw ( he requested medium) and my Opa was overcooked and dry.
My food did not meet my expectations in that, there was no variation of flavor. It was pizza. The crust was doughy, there wasn't any sauce and just wasn't that great.
Pretty decent meal but a little on the pricey side. You could tell our waiter hadn’t mastered the art of giving service but not TOO MUCH service to the point you feel rushed. Other than that great night.
Being foodies we always assume plodding food from resort fare, but we were highly impressed by the attention and delicious fare. Food came out quickly and we finished every bite.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Unless you want to waste your money for bad service and harsh attitudes of the staff in here, I suggest you pick other restaurants in the resort which is thousands of much better food and service. I will NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone!!! I hope Kulla Grille RAN OUT OF BUSINESS AND CLOSE DOWN SOON!!!
We had a wonderful meal with friends. The menu was great for everyone. The appetizer menu was unique and delicious. We can’t wait to come back!
Food and service was mediocre. The ocean view is great!
Disappointed in the currrent menu. We stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort in March, 2018 and dined at the North Shore Kula Grille and liked the extensive menu selection. The service, ambiance and food were very good. During our current visit to the resort, our initial plan was to dine every night at this restaurant, but after looking over the menu, changed our mind.
Sorry, my review was not more positive.
