I recently took my wife for her birthday and it was quite the treat! Excellent food, excellent setting and excellent service. It was noisier than I remembered, but that is probably because it was packed and despite the business the pacing of our food was just perfect.
Great ambiance at the Chef’s Table. Attentive servers. Food as always was excellent.
Amazing food and great service. Very nice ambiance.
We are big fans of North and Navy for a night out with friends. When we heard they were now offering Sunday family style dinners, we were keen to try it out with our teenaged daughters. The food was fabulous - all selected by our server - the lovely Erica - for us. An very enjoyable evening was had by all. We would highly recommend trying the Sunday dinners with NoNa!
Delicious food. Tasty cocktails. Interesting wine selection. Friendly service. Warm atmosphere
Excellent food, great wine selection. Service was a highlight.
This restaurant has very unusual but very creative and delicious food.
Amazing food, congrats for making Canada’s top 100 restaurants, a bit too cozy and noise level on the high side
Fantastic food, great flavors, enjoyed mixing plates with umami, sour and salty characteristics. Highly recommend!
I've been to North & Navy many times, and this was another wonderful occasion. My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary, and were very happy with the wine, the food, the ambiance, and the (quiet) presence of some of the Ottawa Senators. We agreed that the sea urchin risotto was the highlight of the meal (homey, unusual, pungent - we considered ordering a second portion!), and we also really enjoyed the pizzelle (a welcome surprise, since neither of us are typically dessert people) and the smelts - I'd love to see those as a bar snack. My boyfriend also liked his cocktail, and the wine was great, as usual.
The one mediocre part of the meal, in my opinion was the cucumber panzanella. While I really enjoyed the brightness of the cucumber flavour and the richness of the cream, the dish was otherwise a bit lacklustre, and just seemed underwhelming for $15.
Service was great, and we were especially impressed with the servers' attentiveness given that the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night, including with what looked like a large reservation upstairs. I'm always so impressed by the professionalism of the staff at North & Navy - they make you feel special even when you are a small table of two young people on a weekday. The food did initially take a while to come out of the kitchen (50 minutes), but the ambiance and drinks were nice enough that the wait did not mar the evening, and we understood that it must have been just as busy back as front of house!
Thank you all again for another great meal in a great setting. We will definitely be back.
The new Sunday menu is amazing! Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The "feed me" option was exceptional value -- so much variety for so little money. We'll be back!
The steak is unreal.. the potatoes that come with it are fantastic, I think there should be a bit more veg added. Overall always a great experience, negronis are fantastic and good wine selection.
Birthday with guests. Bit noisy but happy noise. Food special!! Waitress perfect.
My friend and I very much enjoyed our evening at North & Navy. Our server (forgive me, I don't remember her name) was very inviting and helpful. The food was amazing and we enjoyed the wine as well.
I went to NoNa mid-week to catch-up with a friend who was in from out of town. We sat in a cozy booth off to the side, and were warmly welcomed when we arrived. Service was attentive, and the menu offered some really imaginative courses. We started with the burrata (heavenly) and followed with shared pasta courses. The Maltagliati were flavourful and earthy, which contrasted against the full flavours of the salt cod spaghetti. Our main course, Sablefish with Fennel, was a very coherent dish. If there was one inconsistency to the evening, it was that both our fish courses were heavily salted, which detracted from what I’m sure would otherwise have been my favourite items on the menu. Altogether an enjoyable dining experience.
Always exceeds expectations. Delicious food, and amazing service.
À la hauteur de sa réputation, ce resto nous a tout simplement enchantés. Un très bel endroit pour commencer une soirée.
Loved everything. Service was excellent. Love a good mixed drink but I didn’t particularly like theirs. Would recommend wine instead. They have a great corner table for couples (will request it next time).
So we loved it. The food was so tasty and original. The waiter was professional and knowledgeable but not intrusive. It was quiet but not dead. It really needs to be for the well-heeled or the special occasion because the dinner was not inexpensive (but worth it!).
This was our first time at North and Navy and it was incredible. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The atmosphere is a fun vibe, the food is impeccable and the service (our server Vincent) was top notch. We can’t wait to go back!
First and foremost, the food was excellent and the service attentive. However the menu mostly in Italian and needed explaining, but staff pushed for wine order ahead of selection. Where we were seated, the chairs were not comfortable for a leisurely meal, so we had coffee and dessert elsewhere. Still well worth the visit.
My wife and I finally got out to have a belated Valentine's dinner at North and Navy and we had fun. The waitress was friendly and gave a full detailed description of everything on the short menu, so we didn't have to tax our limited Italian too much. We started with apertivo drinks: she had a Prosecco and I had a large spicy Caesar, with oddly complex accoutrements. For antipasti, I had the Zucchini with Buratta and she had the Seared Eggplant & House Yoghurt. They were scrumptious, and definitely the best part of the meal. For primi, I had Spaghetti e Baccala and my wife had Spelt Farfalle with Artichoke. They were tasty, but mine was very buttery/salty, and they were the part of the meal I might skip next time. At that point we decided against secondi (too full) and went right to dolce: Ricotta & Passonfruit Pizzelle for me, and Nutella Marquise with Italian Meringue for her. Altogether a lovely experience, nice warm quiet table, interesting dishes and cutlery (they use mismatched antiques), and well worth the wait.
Our family chose North and Navy to celebrate an anniversary and were very pleased. The service was excellent: knowledgeable and thoughtful. Our server suggested peppermint tea when she recognized I had a very sore throat, though it’s not a usual before dinner drink. She carefully described the menu items and portion sizes for us. The food was excellent as well. The combinations of ingradients were perfect. I especially remember the pop of pomegranate seeds in on dish that surprised me with their sweeetness but fit well with the other ingredients. The ambiance at the restaurant is lovely. Our teenage daughter was especially taken with the decor. It was our second visit to the restaurant and we very much look forward to the next.
Food was terrific but music was so loud that people had to talk loud to be heard above it, leading even more noise. The front room could use some acoustic tiles to deaden sound. Also the heat was cranked up way too high.
Too much acid... dishes lacked balance. Mains were ok but the appies and pasta were disapointing.
The food was great, would recommend to check out North & Navy and enjoy a nice evening with loved ones. Next time I would just try all of the pasta dishes.
We had a lovely meal with excellent service at the chef’s table. It was a treat watching the kitchen at work.
Food was great.
Short staff meant that we didn't see our waitress too often.
Superb. Pascal is wonderful. I love this restaurant.
Our server was very knowledgeable and had excellent suggestions for wine pairings.
This was the first Sunday NoNa has been open. They had a smaller menu focused on Family style sharing. Three of us chose the $38 'let NoNa pick', tasting menu which for us came with a big salad, warm olives, salami, and blood oranges as appetizers and lasagne, eggplant parmagian, and 'gravy' (spaghetti in tomato sauce with assorted meats) as mains. Despite the sharing style, they didn't give us serving utensils, which made for a less refined experience (serving ourselves spaghetti from the shared plate with our eating forks)
I was so happy with our experience there on Friday night! Perhaps I could have ticked off more boxes above, but I was not really looking for assess those when I was there. The food I chose was excellent, the wine was wonderful (we know what we like and were pleased with the help in pairing the wine with the food), the ambience was great, the service was attentive but not smothering and very knowledgeable............all excellent! Thank you!
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and had a wonderful experience. The service was amazing and you could tell they cared deeply about our experience.
Good food, good service, unique menu
Only quibble, having made a reservation well in advance, we were to be seated at quite possibly the worst table in the restaurant. Heavy traffic flow and near the door, there were obviously better tables that were free. After showing dissatisfaction with that table we were given a much better location. It felt like we were walk-in customers just shoved somewhere.
Just a point that this was slightly annoying to begin, otherwise nice evening
As usual, the food, service and drinks were wonderful.
Great food and such nice decor and ambience. Will definitely return next time I am in town. The trout was awesome!
Amazing service from start to finish. Delightful meal.
Had a great night out. However we had some misses and everything was a bit on the pricier side.
The things that were good were amazing!
