   As other reviews noted, the dining room is too dark. Can barely read the menus as a result. If they want to keep that lighting level for ambience, increase the font size in the menus. The prices are indeed quite high for some of the items. I do understand that the preparation and recipe formulation play a role, but $30 for a plate of thinly sliced beets might be quite the margin! Also, the steak was good but the jus that it came in was extremely salty. If that was on purpose, I would question the aim of the dish. It was totally unbalanced as a result, and I pushed the jus away from the steak, foie gras, and potatoes so that it would not ruin them. Good place, but perhaps some introspection is needed. Even though they are named a top restaurant in Canada, there is always room to reflect and improve. (I also put birthday on the reservation and that seemed to do nothing. I was not asked for additional details about it nor did anyone acknowledge my selecting that option)

   Not sophisticated nor tasty. Astronomically Overpriced, poor wine pairing options to their current menu. No air conditioning, dress code very loose (including for employees). Could not accommodate dietary restriction( despite specific 3 week notice). Very poor alternative suggestions. The best dish out of 7 we had there was the Negroni cocktail. 1 party gin, 1 part Vermouth, 1 part Campari. So simple you can make that at home with a recipe found n the internet that require no skills. Same for the dishes.

   Definitely the best meal we've had in Ottawa (and probably Ontario)! The food is unique and delicious. The portions are small but surprisingly filling. The wine list is excellent and the staff are all very knowledgeable about pairings. Highly recommend for those with epicurean tendencies and in search of a fine dining experience.

   Went for my 6 year anniversary. They printed special menus for our date to make it even more special. I was planning on going a few months prior for a regular date night, but saw the menu and didn’t understand anything so I was turned off lol. Our server (Sebastien) literally went through the whole menu top to bottom explaining everything without even being asked, he gave a few recommendations, which we followed, and everything was absolutely stunning. Food was amazing. Service was excellent, and I loved how antique everything was, it made it feel authentic. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the entire North and Navy team, @Chefs and cooks, you guys killed it! Nicely done

    One of the most satisfying and gastronomically excellent meals of our lives. Went in to celebrate anniversary and end of school for the year, and were well taken care of by the attentive and accommodating servers and chefs of North and Navy. A memorable evening.

    A sunny spot at the bar was just the beginning. Poloetta roused our appetite to follow with the Eggplant and Chickpea Polenta which was a burst of so many flavors. An astonishing meal. Our bartender was knowledgeable about the food and drinks to satisfy all of our wants.

    The staff were all very attentive and explained the Italian names and dishes well although the noise level was quite high making it difficult to hear them. We shared three delicious antipasti to start, house-cured duck and figs, Le Coprin mushrooms in soar and scallops crudo & cucumber foam along with their own ciabatta. Then as per staff's recommendation we each ordered a second course each. The corzetti in salsa rossa was so wonderful I'd order it again. The bigoli & salsa was also delicious and the special pasta of the night, the scarpinocc, small shoe-shaped little pasta, like little dumplings filled with balsamic were also a great treat. We were seated away from the windows so it was a little dark to see our beautiful meal but it would be perfect for the romantic ambiance of other diners. All in all a great first experience of northern Italy's cuisine!

    Our meal was absolutely amazing! We didn’t know what to expect as it was our first time here, but we were blown away. It wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience. Ellen, our hostess, was wonderful. Her choice for our wine pairing with our entrées was sheer perfection! The June menu held very interesting choices I must say. She also contributed to our enjoyment of our whole culinary experience! Highly recommend!!

    Incredibly thoughtful and tasty food. Had Polpette (best ever had), Gnochi with Pesto, and Tournedos Rossini. Service was terrific and I will be back to visit North and Navy again! It's not inexpensive but is worth the money.

    We had the best meal at North and Navy. Everything was amazing from the service, the seating, the food and the ambience. We were lucky enough to sit overlooking the kitchen which was such a fun experience. The amount of detail that goes into cooking and plating the food was quite the event to witness. The food was immaculate. Every dish was worth eating again (which we will by the way).

    I enjoyed everything from the atmosphere to the excellent service. The whole experience was like taking a class. I appreciated the details and the explanation about the ingredients . Try the house made limoncello, it’s a game changer. We will return with many guests in our party.

    We had an amazing time at North and Navy! Everything was outstanding - food, service, ambiance. I think it was one of the next meals we’ve ever had. The gnocchi was incredible, the octopus and steak plates were out of this work. I can’t say enough positive things about our experience!
