North 45 Restaurant
Went for breakfast to celebrate my daughter with her friends. The restaurant had no customers when we arrived and it took over 5 minutes to get seated. The service was slow and the food was average for the price we paid for it.
Food was ok, but nothing special. Better than fast food, but not worth the cost. Waiter wasn't overly ambitious or friendly. Fast service, but we were the only ones there for 1/2 hour.
I called the restaurant and changed the reservation to 13 people for our wedding party. They had no idea we were coming, we had to sit out in the general area, not even in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes to get water and silverware. It was almost an hour before we actually ordered anything. When we asked the hostess to get some help, she sent another waiter over, he had words with the first server, then we didn't see any servers for 10 more minutes. The food was good. But we all had vouchers for breakfast, the cost was included in our room price. But everyone one of us was charged again for the total. We have called and the hotel seemed happy to reverse the charges, will watch for that. Everyone there seemed confused and acted like it was their first day.
Service was horrible. Took 30 minutes to get water and a coke. Ordered appetizers never got them.
Took hour to get food. Check came gave me back wrong Credit Card. Only one server for the whole
restaurant.. Embarrassed taking customers to Lunch.
We were the only table in the restaurant. Had a new waiter - did not know menu and had to be asked to go find out information. Was happy hour when one in our party ordered happy hour red wine was charged for regular - was told the wine they ordered wasn't happy hour priced???? One person in our party did not get their meal until we were almost finished with ours. Place was empty - think we now know why.
We had 11:00 lunch reservations for an event that was in the ballroom of the hotel, and we were one of two tables that had been seated for lunch service. The waiter was terrible, didn’t check on us, the bar wasn’t open, and the food was sub-par. Ambiance was more of a hotel lobby than a place to eat. Loud. Noisy. Non-private. Will never go back.
Went for breakfast; eggs were cold and hard.
There was an event going on the night I made reservations, but Ben the manager made sure we still got our table and everything. He was outstanding, making sure we had everything we needed the entire time. The food was great as well.
We had a large group there. They were very attentive and kind. The food was delicious!!!!
This is a hotel bar restaurant, not a real restaurant. We ended up here because it wasn't clear that this was a hotel restaurant. It's basically an extension of the lobby. Would not recommend at all.
Not the best place for fun get together. Not very busy throughout the week but had full attention of our waiter who was a little goofy but genuinely adorable and nice. Food was pretty average, we were able to get happy hour which was a way better deal but still a little over priced for what you get.
The food was OK, nothing special. The service was pretty spotty and it seemed like maybe the staff members were all on their first day on their jobs. The best thing was that there was no one else there so it was very quiet. I suspect that the fact that there was no one else there is not a great sign, but that did mean that it was very quiet, unlike so many restaurants these days, where you have to yell so conversation is just not possible. Even my husband, who wears a hearing aid, was able to participate. That was great. So, if you want conversation and don't care so much about the rest, this is a good place. We went before a concert at Orchestra Hall.
Everyone in the restaurant seemed incapable of doing their jobs. Service was terrible, they ran out of food and it was overall a very weird experience.
Made reservation for 9:30 PM, showed up, the place was closed. OpenTable and their website says they’re open until 10 PM. Way to ruin an evening. Headed across the street to the Hyatt for a mediocre meal.
We waited for quite a while at the host stand and nobody ever came to greet us. There was a bartender serving drinks and and she did not acknowledge us. Finally we left to cross the street for a great meal at the Hyatt.
Location convenient to conference center and within hotel. Food was decent and menu had plenty of options for diverse pallets.
I went down for an early supper meal about 5 ish and there was only one other table. They seated me on the small lower table so I had to either sit with my back to any visual interest or sit on what turned out to be a very uncomfortable bench seating. My back was aching 1/2 through my meal making the whole experience unenjoyable. I understand that when it is slow you want to keep patrons nearby, but I had specifically asked if I could sit in the upper section and was refused. The food was very good. The beer batter cheese curds were especially nice. The service was speedy and efficient.
We originally had a reservation for two and on short notice changed it to 4:30 for four. The table was already set with bread/butter and water so we had something to occupy us while deciding on our appetizers and meal, all of which were great. We had initially declined dessert, but I changed my mind and our host quadrupled the portion and brought four spoons for us to share. Dessert was great as well and our host treated us fantastically.
The food was beyond lackluster...it was cold on both occasions that I ate there and had zero flavor. I tried two different dishes.
We are staying at the Millennium Hotel and chose North 45 for dinner. The hotel is located on the main floor across from the main lobby. We were the only people at the restaurant having dinner, but the bar scene was pretty busy. The food menu was limited, but our meals were good. The hostess/waitress made us feel like our dinner was inconvenient for her as it was evident that she preferred to engage guests by the bar. It was fine for a midweek dinner, but I wouldn't consider it for a special occasion.
Excellent food. Our server seemed confused and got our checks mixed up. She didn't seem to know much about the menu.
Pricey, but it is in a hotel so you pay for that convenience.
We had an Anglo, English speaking server who was kind & patient but other wait staff involved in our dinner (there were 6 of us) were clearly having some language issues & not only with us but also with other wait staffers. However, they, too, were very kind & helpful.
Our server couldn't hear us, didn't write anything down, and we received the incorrect beverage and incorrect meal.
There was only one server for the whole restaurant. Wasn't a big restaurant and not super busy but still had to wait a bit for our checks/refills. She also kept mishearing orders. She told us my reservation came in as a two person even though it was for four
I booked it because it said Loring Park/Dtwn but it's actually NOT in Loring Park. Then it's in a hotel, it may technically be a restaurant but it's more like a corner at a Hampton Inn that has the free breakfast, with a bar. ZERO customers at noon except for the bar. It was strange. We didn't stay.
Friendly wait staff and the food was incredibly good!
Made a reservation for dinner, got there and told only bar was open. Service fine, food mediocre. Had breakfast there because I was staying in hotel and it was pouring out. Worst omelette I can remember, expensive, but nice server.
We did not get our cocktails with our private dinner like the online said and i didn;t get my 100 points to use on food and i did not like that all and every thing was good and the food was served slow so when we got to our room i didn't get room serve other thing i liked the place to eat and the lights should have been turned down and there should be set up for two people for private dinner celebrating their anniversary .
My date and I had reservations at North 45 for a Valentine dinner, Saturday night. The Sea bass over risotto and the Scottish Salmon were terrific. The service was very good and the server was not only personable, but was spot on with her description of our food.
On the other hand, the lights were not only bright, they were intense. We were informed, the lighting was broken due to the work being done on the Lobby of the hotel. They could not dim the lights, and the ambiance was less than desirable for a special date.
Forgot we ordered an appetizer so it was brought a couple minutes before our Main. Our food was bland and tasteless and not worth the value. We were celebrating our 3rd year anniversary so they offered a free dessert or wine. She listed them and we chose moscato. She came out with preseco. I believe if they hired more staff the waitress could have accommodated more: she was very friendly but it was just her to serve 7-10 tables. Kept rooting for them but definitely do not recommend.
Ordered the steak and fries as most dependable in such a venue.
Medium came out very rare and cold. Sent back and took another 20 minutes for replacement, well after my wife finished eating her dinner. They volunteered to comp my glass of wine as apology. Very nice server, but this goes on my "not-again" list.
Went here with a group of 6 for lunch during restaurant week. Overall atmosphere was decent and the waitress was very friendly. However, the restaurant was not overly busy and it took what seemed like an absurd amount of time just to get soup and salads (main course) sent to the table (at least 45 minutes for the first course).
The steak salad (while this may just be a restaurant week version) was not pleasing on many fronts. 1.) the steak was clearly not cooked to order, as we had a total of four people order salads, and all were cooked to well-done (when ordered medium, medium-rare, etc.). 2.) There was virtually no bacon or avocado included. 3.) When asked to sub cheddar cheese for the blue cheese, it was clearly a piece of hamburger cheese, cut into squares.
For $20 lunch during restaurant week, I'd highly recommend another option downtown; I will not be returning to North 45.
Wonderfully, friendly and cheerful staff, but the food is so incredibly slow!
Went as part of restaurant week promo. Only two other tables had customers. Waitress was very nice and apologetic , but food was extremely slow coming out of the kitchen. Reservation was for 8:00, entree not served until after 9:00. Salad was drowning in dressing. Presentation of entree was very bland--fish on risotto & corn. Dessert only professional presentation. Restaurant voluntarily picked up one meal for delay. While gesture was appreciated, we won't go back.
This is an in-house restaurant for the hotel, and the quality is adequate, but no better.
I chose this restaurant as it's close to the convention center so the people I was dining with could get to the WorldatWork Total Rewards conference events in a timely manner. While the servers were friendly and polite, they were quite slow to bring coffee and ask if we were ready to order. The food was good, if a bit over-sized (the breakfast pizza could have fed 2 people easily and I thought it was bit sauce heavy but overall very good.)
We had a small business meeting at the Millennium and we hosted a dinner at North 45 after. Needless to say, my boss was extremely pleased with everything and stated the whole day was "fantastic." Thank you for everything!
Formally a Fleming's 13th Street Grill that closed. North 45 is a tiny hotel restaurant (about 20 tables right off the lobby) which seems to be in place more as an after thought than an intentional attempt at fine dining.
The menu is limited. About 6 dinner options and 8 or so lunch items.
We went, as it appeared to be one of the few decent restaurants (based on Yelp) within walking distance of the Convention Center. I had the "jumbo" crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was about 3/8" thick. The bun about 1 1/2". Couldn't really taste the crab cake for all the bread. Service was OK, but not great.
If your at the hotel and not wanting to go outside in the cold, I would say this is a fair option. I definitely would not rate this as a "destination restaurant".
Great staff, restaurant had a special date feel and food was delicious.
Went here for our Valentine's dinner (early), and chose the set 3 course menu which was priced well. The soups were fantastic - both the tomato and vegetable were fresh and tasty. Good sized mains and great desert. Our waitress was lovely - very attentive, personable and efficient (while 6 months pregnant). Given some reviews I saw, I was relieved to see plenty of staff. (Apparently they were closed for 6 months and did a whole remodel so ignore reviews from 2014). Best things about this restaurant include the service, fresh ingredients in the food, and the spacing of the tables which are spaced for private conversation. Biggest negatives: ambiance is a restaurant in a hotel - perfectly nice but forgettable, and furnishings are kinda Scandinavian - also perfectly nice and forgettable. They presented my husband with a rose - very nice touch.
