The food was not that great and overall disappointing based on the last two times we went. This was our anniversary as well.
My gf’s ribeye was definitely not a ribeye; looked like a general sirloin and it was two thin steaks stacked on each other.
The scooby Crab claws did not taste fresh; very fishy.
The burnt roasted potatoes which seemed like they were deep fried.
My crab cake was one crab cake. For the price of it being an entree, I was surprised. This also didn’t taste fresh and was mushy.
Neither myself nor my gf finished our entrees, maybe ate half and then just gave up.
The one thing that was phenomenal was the corn bread. We enjoyed those.
Overall I’m very disappointed. We had been there last year for our anniversary and then earlier this year for valentines, and both time everything was amazing.
Not sure if there was the B team this time, or new chef, or cost cutting, but I won’t be returning again.
Great place for date night. Server was great
Loved the atmosphere, our server, the music, and most importantly the food.
Reservation was for 8:15 & was still waiting at the bar for our seats at 8:45. I asked about & 10 more minutes was the simple answer. We ate our $100 meal at the bar! Bartender & the food were GREAT!
Everything was perfect! Great vibe, was playing some of my favorite songs & the food was amazing.
I can tell you what not to eat/get...the crawfish beignets. It's more like crawfish balls that were a bit overcooked.
Our meals were wonderful and the service outstanding. Will definitely go back next visit to Norfolk!
Great vibe and ambiance- excellent food - oysters Rockefeller are amazing as was the she crab soup !
Creative and delicious cocktails- would definitely return when in the area again !
This was our first time and it was AMAZING. The service was GREAT! The food was DELICIOUS. Just the overall experience was AWESOME. We will be returning for sure.
Food was great, as always! Staff was friendly and the service was on point!
It was my moms birthday. I noted it on the reservation and the hostess called me the day before to ask if I had any special requests , but they didn’t remember once we were actually there. I had to ask the server for the birthday dessert. It kinda took away the moment. I’ve been before and the food is always great.
The food (oysters Rockefeller, collard greens, side of potatoes, lobster, scallops and shrimp dish) was overpriced and everything was very salty! When I tell the waitress about the untouched side of potatoes I was told that the manager needed to come over to remove a $5 charge from $142 bill. When the manager/owner came over, she was unfriendly and made up excuses why she could not quickly remove a five dollar charge and swipe my credit card a second time. She offered me a replacement side which was completely ridiculous because we had already finished our dinner. I requested a dessert instead, to which she responded that I would have to pay the $3.00 difference for the bread pudding. Although she was standing near the front as we exited the restaurant, she did not wish us a goodnight and her demeanor was sullen and childish.
It was a wonderful dinner. Our server was great. We were there for my birthday so it was a special night. Will definitely be back again
Overall the food was good; nothing extraordinary. Being a Saturday night it was busy, food came out in a timely fashion and the service was good.
My boys and I eat here every time I come to visit. The oysters and drinks are amazing!!! Would recommend anyone who likes sea food who doesn't care about price. The meal out weighs the price :)
We had a 7 PM RESERVATION IN A LARGELY EMPTY RESTAURANT. After being seated by the hostess, we waited 10 minutes for a waitress to approach our table. We requested water which arrived 10 min later. After approx. 25 min of wasted time we told the waitress it was taking too long…..there was no apology or attempt to serve us. No restaurant can treat people this way and expect to survive, regardless of any staffing issues. This was just rude, and non- customer oriented. Owners be aware….
Everything was great, but the oysters Rockefeller was out of this world.
Delicious food. Loved my drinks. Sat at the bar and the bartender was everything 10/10
We couldn’t find parking and got lost! The hostess was gracious and our dinner was delicious. The oyster selection was outstanding! Our server was charming and service was spot on.
A good experience. The vibe was awesome! The food was amazing. The service could’ve been better and the up and down glance I received as I entered was not appreciated. I honored the dress code but miss lady at the front looked a mess (her attire looked a mess). She should save her judgement on others and look in the mirror before she gives my group any stank looks.
Dined to celebrate our anniversary. It was a great atmosphere, the service was outstanding and the food was delicious.
Great meal…..we had oysters Rockefeller, and the blackened steak.
The food here is fairly generic and mediocre. They seem to sell themselves as a first-rate seafood restaurant while in reality the food and ambiance is better at Red Lobster. The bar failed to properly pull off some of the most basic of things – if you can’t even make a gin and tonic properly you probably shouldn’t have a liquor license. The entire experience was a fail.
To much salt in the frog leg dish. I expressed that to the manager and was told that "we do not take food back, but this time we will, but next time we will not". This was told to me rudely by the manager. The other dishes that my wife and I order were okay, but not worth the price.
Made reservations after a concert, we decided to share a meal. Ordered crab, lobster & shrimp in garlic butter sauce which was salty to me because I don’t eat salt in my food. My friend enjoyed
Nice ambiance, great service.
Awesome date night dinner. Our server, John was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The food and drinks we delicious. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
This was my first time dinning at this restaurant and was highly disappointed. The restaurant called ahead of time to remind me of their dress policy which we were happy to comply with, therefore it was disappointing to get there and see several dinners wearing athletic wear and sneakers. wait time for the food was extremely long, sat down and 8pm but did not get our food until 9:20. the grits was cold, frog legs was cold. spent $240 for a party of 4 and still had to stop at another restaurant on the way back to the hotel.
The service was outstanding. The food was very good. The atmosphere was very nice as well
Food was a little salty but other than that everything was great
Had a last minute reservation and when I go to the restaurant they claimed it never went through but they sat us down anyway. Service was great and food was fresh
The service was outstanding!! The food was amazing! I highly recommend this establishment for fine dining and a great experience!
I love this place for its entirety!!! The food the staff the vibes are great here... those Rockefeller oysters are a must.
mashed potatoes was cold but lobster and fried shrimp was good and hot. but appetizers and sides came out cold like they were sitting out. and beignets were not good. service was excellent though.
Nice ambience. I read the dress code and we all followed to a tee. When the restaurant called me to confirm the reservation, they reminded of the dress code. However, while we were dining, patrons who attended the restaurant definitely were not in dress code. I understand it was a slow night, but the dress code should be strictly enforced.
My sister had the scoobies but they were too garlicky. The Jambalaya had very little shrimp and scallops and was a touch sweet..
The Oyster Rockefellers were excellent catfish was very good as well the crab cakes.
My only suggestion is that if the restaurant is called "The Norfolk Seafood Restaurant" you should at least raw clams, I believe they are abundant in Virginia Beach.
I wish you all the best.
Tonight was my first time visiting this restaurant. The menu was a bit small. The prices were ok. I felt like in their downstairs dining room I was sitting in someone’s attic. I was definitely taken by the phone call yesterday regarding restaurant dress code, yet I saw people with clothes on they didn’t approve on their website. I probably wouldn’t come back.
This was our first time here and we had family in from out of town. We had a great time!! Shout out to Michelle who was our server she was amazing!!! We will be back the food was great and the wools were great!
It was good. Should of gotten the frog legs!
Really happy our plans changed and we ended up here.
-friendly service from all staff members (especially with a 2.5 YO late in the evening)
-had a kids menu despite not being on the website (no kids cups or changing table)
-delicious lump crab soup
-wonderful cornbread before meal
-really enjoyed my lemon butter scallops, shrimp and crab: not too heavy so I could have dessert but packed with flavor
-my husband was stuffed and could not finish the seafood platter (generous portions)
-daughter was satisfied with chicken fingers (3) and fries
-finished it off with warm bread pudding and light as air whip cream (daughter loved it!! Must love cinnamon)
Thanks to the waitstaff for turning our rough travel day around! Hope many others enjoy this spot!
The food was very good we had the best desert I think we’ve ever had at a restaurant our server was very great and you get your food so quick we had to see a move at 8 and got there at 6:15 and were done with both appetizers and meals by 7:30 and made it in time for our movie overall such a great experience I will definitely be back when I’m in the area
