In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

The venue is amazing and the food mouth wateringly delicious as always. Head Chef Sanguang's dishes never disappoints! The service from the team was great even though the charm was missing without Restaurant Manager Kasem there. Visiting Nipa is always a delightful treat for us!

Exceptional! A hidden gem!! Greeted by a gracious hostess and seated in an impressive dining room. Warm plates for when our delicious dinner was served. Very quiet place even with a lot of people and easy to hear each other. Waiter and staff were very attentive! The food was outstanding! This was a great dining experience and I will go back there in a heartbeat. It is a hidden gem on the second floor in a hotel and there are no signs outside the building. A hidden gem indeed just outside Hyde park! Highly recommended! The maitre d and chef have been there for 29 years!!

Excellent food, but be careful not to over order, as the portions are large - both starters and main courses are big enough to be shared between two, as is a dish of rice. We ordered one each and struggled to finish, with no room for desert!

All the dishes we ordered were excellent. The papaya salad was properly hot as it should be but we did ask them not to hold back! The Pad Thai was superb. The service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing and the staff were very friendly. However, it is a hotel restaurant and does suffer from a lack of character as hotel restaurants tend to. Overall, very happy with the experience.

As always it’s outstanding and super helpful with the menu and I was very lucky to that chef made me there beef salad which had been taken off the menu , highly recommend 1st class .

The food was excellent quality, and the flavours were fantastic. We all enjoyed it, including my 8 year old son. I’d highly recommended Nipa Thai

An evening at Nipa Thai is always one to remember. Last nights was no exception Both prawn dishes shared with my partner were mouth watering delights as was,as always, the spring rolls and… oh… the soft shell crab. The lychee cocktail was to die for
