In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

    Beautiful restaurant and location & friendly staff. Food is good, but I was expecting a little bit more. Nothing that unique and I love Thai food. Though I would come again to try a few other things.

    We have eaten at Nipa before and didn't hesitate to rebook for a double birthday treat. As before the food was excellent and we were very well looked after. We won't hesitate in booking again.

    Fabulous food and amazing service. Used to come a long time ago but hadn't been for a few years. So glad I rediscovered it again. Will be back soon. Thank you to all the staff. Impeccable service.

    The venue is amazing and the food mouth wateringly delicious as always. Head Chef Sanguang's dishes never disappoints! The service from the team was great even though the charm was missing without Restaurant Manager Kasem there. Visiting Nipa is always a delightful treat for us!

    Exceptional! A hidden gem!! Greeted by a gracious hostess and seated in an impressive dining room. Warm plates for when our delicious dinner was served. Very quiet place even with a lot of people and easy to hear each other. Waiter and staff were very attentive! The food was outstanding! This was a great dining experience and I will go back there in a heartbeat. It is a hidden gem on the second floor in a hotel and there are no signs outside the building. A hidden gem indeed just outside Hyde park! Highly recommended! The maitre d and chef have been there for 29 years!!

    Excellent food, but be careful not to over order, as the portions are large - both starters and main courses are big enough to be shared between two, as is a dish of rice. We ordered one each and struggled to finish, with no room for desert!
