Food orders were lost, then some never came at all...took us 45 minutes to get chips and an hour before they brought us silverware and napkins. Basically spent almost 3 hours waiting for brussel sprouts, french fries and bread before we left and went to a good truck. Had we not been hungry maybe I wouldn't have been so disappointed. Goto Bar Peached instead, it's across the street.
What can i say, this place was like making love to your SO. Savory, sweet, spicy, and bit of letting your intuitions go. Great energy for conversation. You don’t have to yell over music or people. They do a really great job of making you feel like you are the only ones there.
The food was very good. Our waiter was considerate and brought potato ships to munch on while we waited for our appetizer. Unfortunately, we had to request silverware in order to eat it when it arrived. We also had to stack our plates in order to make room for the entree.
I don’t know as if I’ve ever had a dining “experience” similar to last night. My girlfriend and I showed up for our 8:30 reservation. Granted, this place was slammed, and my girlfriend and I are very patient people. We were seated approximately 10 minutes after arriving. After another 20, our waiter Sebastian made his way over and took our water/drink order. Another 15 goes by and we get our drinks. We order our food. 5 minutes later our waiter returns to let us know that since it’s so late and near closing, which was 10, they were out of pretty much everything on the menu. So we left. I felt like an inconvenience to the Nightcap staff the entire time I was there.
My ratings on the food were merely because we couldn’t be served. The place was packed (and was still seating reservations as we were leaving), so I’m certain it’s good. I just can’t attest to it.
Friendly staff, good food, well made cocktails. The upcharge to premium liquor was a bit steep, but the cocktails were good.
Our server got a bit busy when we needed our check and didn't see her for a while, but she nice and apologetic for the delay.
We enjoyed the quail and the chicken. Our waitress was very professional and attentive. We enjoyed our outdoor table by the street. We are definitely coming back!
Food was amazing! We had the half chicken that was cooked perfectly. The brussels sprouts were delicious. We also had the Korean short ribs that had great flavor. I also had a drink called “Ghost ‘Em Gurl” that was so yummy! Would definitely recommend to everyone! Just a wonderful experience! Can’t wait to go back!
When I saw the menu online, I literally thought it was a joke as it contained about 8 items with 2 of them being dinner choices and I thought it was a joke until we arrived and the joke was on me. Our waitress explained that every Wednesday the plan is to add 3 additional items to the menu...sadly, we were there on a Tuesday. We should have left and dined elsewhere and then I would probably be writing a better review...but, we stayed.
I am a huge fan of brussels sprouts, but after having them at Soto just days before, these did not measure up. They just had too much tomatillo jam on them.
I typically like quail but if it tastes too gamey, it's a done deal for me and I was done. My husband loves wagyu beef, but his burger was covered in so much special sauce it was literally dripping on the plate and he was not impressed. The jidori half chicken was good, but the panna cotta was salty and bland.
I was not impressed with the service we received from Alyxandra B. as customers should not have to tell you that their water carafe is empty and that they need clean plates. When you literally only have 3 tables, there aren't any excuses to be made for lazy service.
Would I recommend Nightcap? The lawn is super cute, I like the catchy phrases on their sign, and I just looked at their menu and sure enough as of today, it looks as if more items have been added and more will arrive soon. Due to the addition of more food items, I would not be opposed to going back and updating my review.
The staff were so nice and gave my friend and I a free drink. Location and atmosphere were perfect and we will def be going back.
Celebrated my birthday at Nightcap and they did not disappoint! Fantastic service (shout out to Sebastian), yummy food & great location (with parking)!
We definitely plan to return! Thank you, Nightcap staff!
Very amazing !! We loved it so much and the service was great. The salad was a bit too Spicy but waiter tried to fix it for us. I love spice but way too much.
The owner was lovely !
Food came out in no particular order over the course of an hour. The chicken came out last about an hour after we ordered it. Everything was good. The Asian salad was SPICY! The drinks were great and our server was attentive.
Delicious food, cute outdoor covered and uncovered seating area.
Day outside. Loved the music, food and service!
It is a great spot for happy hour, when they are actually having happy hour. We went for their all night happy hour on Tuesday, only to find out they aren't having it right now. Without the happy hour deals, I think it's a bit overpriced.
Lovely dinner date spot with great service and wonderful food and drinks. Attention to details with both safety and COVID-19 response and also with the service and food. Really enjoyed the burger and also the fried chicken. The bread and garlic butter was also surprisingly good.
This was our first date night out since Covid because my wife broke her foot and has not been mobile, and we made a great choice choosing NightCap. Christin, the owner, met us at the door before we even stepped in.
We went on a very busy Friday night and they had everyone spaced out appropriately outside on the deck and lawn area and the staff all had mask and we felt very comfortable. Food was great, my wife had a couple appetizers together for her meal (brussel sprouts and something I forgot) and I had the chicken sandwich which was exceptional. We snacked on the crusty bread with custom butter (something that tasted like toasted and savory shallots in it) while waiting for our drinks.
The ambiance was really nice cause the patio was on the north side of the building in the shade. We aren't from this neighborhood but many people must have been because their were several people walking by talking to friends sitting at tables, it felt like a great neighborhood hangout.
Thanks for making our night out great.
Thanks for such a warm welcome and fun time! Y’all are so sweet and we really appreciate the warm hospitality and delicious food! We can’t wait to come back and visit!
Fantastic, attentive staff doing their best amid difficult circumstances. Kudos!
My wife and I went to Nightcap for our second anniversary. We had an excellent time! The service, food, and atmosphere were all perfect. We will be back.
Our server was friendly, easy going and gave us great information on the food options and wine options.
The music outside was a little loud. We asked them to turn it down & they instantly accommodated! The waiter, Sebastian, was pleasant & attentive & always had his mask on. The gin cocktail was beautiful. Not crowded. Very pleasant.
Thank y'all so much for the five star review! Sebastian is one of our new members to the nightcap family and we could not be more grateful! We hope to see y'all both back super soon :) All the love, Christin and the nightcap family
We left. Reality does not match branding. Felt like showing up to a house party, but you were not invited.
Fun spot for a small get together with friends or small group’. It could also be a romantic spot for drinks, depending on occasion. We had very good food and drinks and enjoyed the intimate setting of the restaurant.
My items from the menu not available.
Okay but won’t return.
Cocktails were good, but limited selection. Food was well done and average price for Austin. Menu has a limited selection.
It was our first visit and my boyfriend was so excited about bringing me there because of great reviews and wanting to take me somewhere special for Valentines Day. I was so excited too! You were very limited on the valentine menu and we were both disappointed on all the options. The service was great and the music was terrific. We both agreed on the fish but really didn’t realize it had the bones still in it. The waitress never explained it to us. It tasted good but it was not romantic digging bones out of our mouths. The salad was not very good either. Nothing special about any of the meal. Hoping we can come back on a regular day and try the menu. Thank you
This is a really cute ace with a good relaxed atmosphere. Fun place for drinks. It food menu is very limited. And the one item of the five enters offered that we wanted was not available. They have one octopus salad, a chicken dusk, a burgers and a steak. Thanks it and again when we went they were out of the chicken. We ended up having the Brussels sprouts and pretzel bites which were good.
Yummy sharables and dimly shimmering tables make for great ambiance.
Birthday dinner, and they brought us champagne on the house! Amazing cocktails, great ambiance.
Best burger in Austin. Period. And the cocktails are fantastic too.
Excellent, personable service and the food is stellar every time! Probably the best burger in all of Austin is found here!
Great friendly service!
Enjoyed my holiday dinner ever so much. The owner and server created a great experience for Turkey Day! I will definitely be going there for happy hour next week! Hope they're planning something for Christmas dinner too.
I did not get a chance to try the food so I can't give a rating for that. The ambiance was nice but other than that, I was very disappointed. This rating is for Thanksgiving only - I hope that their operations run more smoothly for regular dining.
First, we arrived a few minutes early for a 6:30 reservation. It took nearly ten minutes after we arrived for our hostess to finally attend to us. Except we weren't taken to our table - instead, we were led to a lounge area to have drinks. We waited for *half an hour* to be seated, despite having a reservation. I'm sorry, waiting half an hour to be seated at a table when we've made a reservation? Unacceptable.
On top of that, we were greatly misled by Nightcap about what we should expect to eat. The whole reason we had chosen Nightcap is because it looked like a cozy and yummy option for dinner on Thanksgiving that would have non-Thanksgiving food available (I just don't like Thanksgiving food). They advertised on OpenTable that they would have their regular menu in addition to a Thanksgiving menu. They had called me a few weeks prior to ask whether we would prefer the regular menu or the Thanksgiving menu so that they could get a headcount, and they had texted me less than a week before letting me know their Thanksgiving menu had been posted on their site.
When we were finally seated, the only menu available was - surprise - the Thanksgiving menu. When we asked if a regular menu was available, we were told that there must have been "some miscommunication" - clearly, the miscommunication must have been among the Nightcap staff for communicating to OpenTable and to me personally that they would have a regular menu available. Furthermore, as far as I could tell, there was only one waitperson/host, one bartender, and one chef (who was also helping serve food) for all of Thanksgiving night, which contributed to our long wait time. Obviously, Nightcap was wholly unprepared for the evening.
We left and ate elsewhere.
Imagine dining out in Austin in 2000. That would be this place. Dated decor and menu. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Would have been passable for Austin twenty years ago. There are way too many choices in dining now for this place to be a consideration. I’m surprised they are successful enough to stay in business. I predict it won’t be long.
We made a reservation at Nightcap for Thanksgiving dinner. We were seated promptly, and our hostess and server was terrific. We both ordered from the Thanksgiving menu, and were both delighted with our choices. Would absolutely return for regular happy hour or late night snacking, as their cocktail menu looks great!
One of my favorite places to eat and relax. You must try Nightcap!
Nightcap offers takeout which you can order by calling the restaurant at (512) 628-0144.
Nightcap is rated 4.5 stars by 237 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
