Great food and service. We were seated downstairs and it was ok. The upstairs seating is more open air and allows for street views. Although not seats in a preferred spot, the food quality and quantity was superb. The service was on par as well.
This is arguably one of the best restaurants in the North End. Love this place, everything is amazing.
Great food! Best Cioppino ever ate. Traditional decor.
This place is so charming and quaint! Great food!
The food was excellent. Great wine list. Friendly ambiance and good service.
It is so delicious here and the staff is so polite they keep us coming back time after time! Everybody was happy with their meals especially the mushroom ravioli and lobster ravioli.
We made a reservation for 8:15 pm and we were told that they were running “a little behind.” However, after 40 minutes of waiting I took my family somewhere else for dinner. I got a notice 15 minutes later that our table was ready...really, nearly an hour after our reservation and you call that “a little behind?”
Had dinner there this past Friday evening. Service was excellent! We had a roasted beet salad as an appetizer and it was just ok (and quite expensive for 5 slices of beets with dollop of ricotta). My chicken parm was good as was my husband's veal parm but we still think Panza has the best of all the Hanover St. restaurants that we have tried. I was very disappointed that they could not make a cappuccino but enjoyed my espresso. Overall, this is a pretty good place to go but we felt that Hanover St. has better places.
Absolutely incredible! The food was to die for and the service was great. We enjoyed the appetizer special and the atmosphere! Definitely recommend for a special night out.
The food was divine. Our waiter was outstanding. It was worth every penny!
Exceeded expectations! We were a party of nine on everyone hopefully your food! Had no problem handling a large party.
I have dined at nico several times. The food is superb and not the typical American Italian food that one finds in most Italian restaurants. Being there reminds me of eating at quaint restaurants in Italy. I have recommended nico to others.
I made a reservation for four people at 7:00 a week in advance, we arrived 2 minutes before 7 and checked in and were told it would be a few minutes, fine we sat outside and people watched. 35 minutes later our name was called, not a big deal because we were entertained. Right away we had water at our table and shortly after our server explained the menu and we placed our order. Our meals were the BEST Italian meals we had ever eaten. Nico's was well worth the wait and I would wait again even longer, if need be. This will be a very tough meal to beat. You won't be disappointed if you choose Nico's
Solid Italian food prepared well. The downstairs seating area is very loud when full making conversation a challenge.
The atmosphere and the food were excellent. My date wanted shrimp scampi, which is not on the menu, and they were able to accommodate her. Service was great and once again the food was excellent.
This is a great surviving piece of Boston’s Italian North end. A fine neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and great welcoming ambience. It is a bit loud but it felt upbeat and pleasant.
Wasn’t impressed with the food and it was just a basic black, white and red place and servers and staff were sitting, eating in front of all of us and I did not feel-it was authentic Italian especially being Italian.
The lobster ravioli is amazingly delicious and the ciopiniono with a 1 pound lobster is so delicious I can't wait to come back next year to have it again.
Great food. Good service, but really long wait for a reservation. Waited 35 minutes after our reservation for a table.
Noisy & crowded, but that's what we expected & like. Service was very good, but a bit disappointed in one of our dishes ( chicken was over cooked). Servicer offered to bring another dish and offered his apologies. Other dish was very good!
Still would recommend.
The food was excellent, big portions and very tasty. Our table was tucked in a corner in the basement, not much ambience at all. We shared a couple apps and all ordered pasta dishes. My linguine with clams and fra diavolo was excellent, very spicy! My wife’s gnocchi was also very good. They have an extensive wine list, but more heavily weighted towards California rather than Italy.
Our waiter was very professional. Not overly friendly, but got the job done well.
Very quaint small italian restaurant . The 3 waiter staff we had were all italian with accents.
The restaurant is small make sure you get a table upstairs the ambience is much better.
The food is excellent. We had Sope d Pesce all seafood w pasta in a thin tomato sauce . Fantastic.
You won’t go wrong eating here.
The food in this restaurant is exceptional. It is a bit loud and crowded, and the chairs didn’t seem that sturdy. But the service was great and as I said, the food is so good it makes you forget all those other things.
Great food and friendly staff -- only problem is the wait time even with reservations.
My wife and I went for my birthday. There was no wait to be seated. You eat at close quarters, and the place is lively. We waited a bit for our orders, and the staff initially brought the wrong wine, but mistakes happen, and our waiter was very apologetic. We shared Insalata “NICO” (arugula, grilled pears, walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese, pomegranate vinaigrette): Excellent. I had Rigatoni con Carciofi e Salsicca, which was also excellent. My wife had Pollo/Vitello al Marsala, which was good, but the chicken was a bit tough. We took home what we could not finish. We would return and aim for a quieter night.
Family in town from Colorado and Indiana.
Our waiter James was excellent and the hostess Valentina wonderful. The food sss great and we went two nights in a row. Awesome place.
We were in Boston for a special occasion and ate at Nico’s early, around 5:30pm. It was quiet at first, making us nervous, but the place filled up by the time we finished eating our meals.
The food is good - fresh, flavorful, and prepared well.
The service was friendly and helpful.
The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous.
Quick note: they don’t have a full bar - mostly wines and flavored vodkas, etc.
The appetizer special was outstanding: a burrata dish with mozzarella and prosciutto. Was too busy eating to remember snapping a photo ;)
Nico doesn't disappoint. Nestled in the heart of the North End, we brought some colleagues and two kids to experience a night out. We all ate WAY too much of our generously appointed meals and raved about it all: service, food, space - they do it right.
Great restaurant! Best meatballs ever!! Service was excellent. They made my daughter’s birthday very special.
Food is consistantly good. We were seated downstairs....dark, loud, tv on wall.....not a very good North End ambiance. Service started off good. Once place filled up it was slow and not very attentive.
Hostess was not friendly but the food was amazing.
Beware that the OpenTable menu for Nico has very inaccurate prices. For instance the veal chop was $12 more, veal parm was $11 more, everything was considerably more. Also Nico's online menu does not list prices. This may be no big deal for a small party, but with a party of 7 this is a sizable difference. The food was delicious, service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place for fantastic North End food but beware of substantial price differences.
Great food. All recommendations were excellent.
Great lunch on the 4th.
The four of us had a fantastic meal at Nicos. The best Chicken Marsala in my life. Excellent service, great wine list and impeccable service. What more could you ask for? You need to eat here to see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Rosato was our server and he was awesome. We had the Eggplant parmigiana special with fusilli and it was out of this world !!
I took my wife to Nico’s to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. I could NOT have picked a nicer place. The food was spectacular. Our server Alex was the friendliest and most attentive server anyone could ever ask for. Nico’s made the evening perfect!
