Excellent food and service.
My Italian wife, who is an excellent cook, said it was the best Arancinis she has ever had. This is saying a lot!
Dinner was good, but the restaurant was out of the wine we ordered. They offered to serve a similar but cheaper wine at the same price as the first!?! Their coffee machine “broke down last week” so no coffee or cappuccino after dinner. A bit of a disappointment. Very small quarters soon stretching out or relaxing. Dessert was highlight of the evening, compliments of our waiter.
The food was delicious, the waiters were playful, and the ambiance was great for get-togethers. Although the wait time between courses was long, it was worth it. The bathroom was also very nice. I would recommend Nico for date nights, business meetings, or just getting together with friends in small groups.
Lovely food, service, and atmosphere, it was a superb dinner with my fiancé
Not only is it great food, but having a friendly staff helps. Explain the meals, make options and are always friendly. Thank you Luciano, Katie, Brianna and Hakim.
I think maybe because it was early evening or a late lunch but the noise from the staff was very loud. Service and food was good. The staff was gathered behind me and I felt like it was a school cafeteria. I imagine the owner/ management don't promote or support this and expect better but I was disappointed in that.
We are visiting Boston and this restaurant was recommended to us. It was great - especially the meatballs!!
Service was excellent and the dinners were very good. Pasta with meatball delicious. Veal was excellent. Calamari was ok.
It’s Restaurant Week in Boston and I decided to try some new places. It’s my first time at Nico and all three courses on the $20 special menu were outstanding. Will come back for sure!
We love Nico's! It is North End dining at its finest. Our hostess, Velia, was very welcoming and sat us right away. We were celebrating my mother in law's 89th birthday and everything was perfect. She loved the Rigatoni alla Sal and the wine James suggested was wonderful. It was a perfect night out and I highly recommend Nicos to everyone. As a matter of fact, there is only one restaurant in the North End I will send friends to...Nico's on Hanover Street. Do yourself a favor and get in there!
James was amazing! He was attentive to our allergy and special occasion requests! Such a great time as always!
Alex , our waiter, was outstanding! Food delicious! Great dining experience!
We had an amazing dinner at Nicos! All four of us raved about our delicious meals... The waitstaff was informative-on the ball- polite and gracious. The service was great!! We can't wait to go back. Thank you for a wonderful dinner with our friends!
Celebrating a birthday, great food, outstanding service.
The service was phenomenal. The food was fantastic. The energy level is superhigh. I highly recommend this restaurant for special events and occasions!
Excellent food, from starters through the second course. Seafood was sourced fresh and the preparations were on point. Our server was also excellent, knew the food, wine list, and preparations thoroughly and handled the meal with appropriate timing between courses. Quaint dining room typical of traditional Italian restaurants. Would recommend a reservation to insure a table.
We sat at the bar . There is seating on the Street entrance and downstairs. Placed filled up quickly and I can see why. We had pepper stuffed with sausage, my wife and I loved it, prosciutto and parmigiana, very light and fresh. My wife had pasta carbonara and said it was the she has eaten. I had the 2lb stuffed lobster, blew me away. There was a ton of shrimp and scallops in the stuffing and the lobster was tender and sweet. The bartender and her helper were very friendly and did a great job. You will enjoy this place.only downside is only one bathroom.
Great food and outstanding service!
Excellent food and service each time my husband and I have gone.
FIRST CLASS - DELICOUS APPS MAINCOURSE - VERY FRIENDLY PROFESSIONAL STAFF - NO RUSHING YOU OUT - A HIDDEN JEWEL IN THE NORTH END
Hostess was rude. Preference is for male female couples. Same prices but I am a male and went with a male and was treated extremely poorly. Offered a table refused by a male female couple. It was then given to the only people of color in the whole restaurant. The bar tender was complaining about being tired and talking about what she saved for the end of her shift (It was 9:30pm) when she had no energy. She poured uneven glasses of wine and slapped them down like she was in a dinner. The waiter never explained the specials until we asked and kept rubbing his chest. This place had no class and I was to spend a gift certificate that I will throw away.
I have heard about the meatballs at Nico's since it opened. The appetizer portion was enormous, enough for my husband and I to split and it was by far the BEST meatball I've ever had. The husband ordered the stuffed pork dish that was on special and I ordered the arancini. The husband loved the pork dish saying it was very flavorful and delicious. The arancici was to die for, and the appetizer portion was enough for a meal. 3 medium sized balls that were dense and full of flavor. Would absolutely go back.
We were in for dinner with friends from the UK. Everything was exceptional. Highly recommend Nicos for dinner.
While the overall experience was great once we were seated, they did not seat our party until 25 minutes AFTER our reservation...and the hostess was less than accommodating or forthcoming with information of when our table would be ready so that we could go get a drink or app while we waited so instead we stood on a side walk for 40 minutes (we arrived early) in 90* heat.
A fabulous find, we loved everything! Luciano was an informed server, made wonderful suggestions and interacted in just the right amount for our evening. I could have done without the TVs at the bar, but ... all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, just a great vibe.
This was our first time at Nico and we really enjoyed it. Like most North End restaurants it is small and crowded but the pasta was amazing and the service was very attentive without being overbearing. The spaghetti and meatballs was as good as any I have tasted. My wife had lobster ravioli and really enjoyed it. Great meal and fun evening.
Services was very good. We never waited for anything. Busboy was excellent and kept water glasses filled. Food was very good as well. Will definitely return
Great spot, good food. Small. When it gets busy it gets a bit loud.
we relied upon our waiter to select our wine, selection of pastas, and main course. this doesn't always work, but he did an outstanding job! the staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented. He would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Much more than I expected. Huge portions!
One of the best Italian dinners I’ve had.
Outstanding! Lovely lunch with attentive but not intrusive service. Scallop appetizer amazing! Cioppino bountiful and perfectly prepared.
The starter ,Tomato with Mozarella and Basil (Caprese ), was good, but so simpel and exaggerated for 15 $, also the Spaghetti carbonara for 21 $, I come from Europe and I think, that this Price Perfomance is not real, I don´t want to pay so much for this dinner.
My husband and I ate here 4 years ago and he had the Mushroom Ravioli. He has been talking about it since then! We finally made it back, he had his mushroom ravioli and it was just as fabulous! Love this place.
The food and service were absolutely fantastic! We couldn’t have asked for better. We did get sat late for our reservation but we had such a great experience it didn’t even matter.
Only thing I did not like is I ate in the cellar
We came back to Nico exactly one year after our first date, which was also at Nico. Fantastic experience, both times. Wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive, and the ambiance cannot be beaten for a date. Our waiter was Luciano and he was just perfect.
Although we had been delayed a little by traffic, we were seated relatively quickly at our table on a very busy Saturday night at the restaurant. Alex, our waiter, was magnificent--very attentive to my wife's onion allergy and a wonderfully knowledgeable navigator of the wine options at the restaurant. My wife's swordfish special was extraordinary and I very much enjoyed the eggplant appetizer and veal saltimbocca. Wonderful evening.
This is one of my favorite North End restaurants. The burrata is amazing. The spaghetti and meatball sounds basic, but it is the best meatball. You can substitute one of the other house-made pastas for the spaghetti.
Had a wonderful dinner at Nico. Only negative was that the one member of our party had the Caprese salad and mentioned that the tomatoes were not quite ripe.
