Terrible waiter. Rude and condescending. Great food though!
Cozy Italian with great food and service. Great place to take a stroll down the street afterwards to soak in the ambience.
Everything was fabulous!!! We loved James!
Always our go to when we are in town! The best service and food!!
The meatballs were the most delicious I’ve ever eaten. Everything else was fine, but didn’t come close to how good the meatballs were.
We were disappointed with the veal parmesan as it was coated in thick breading/very thin veal - so mostly breading. We could not order an old fashion as they did not have the right liquor. We planned to have dessert;however, close not to as the server said that they could not make coffee nor espresso because the machine was broken. Also, the wine pour in one glass was 1/2" less- same wine. It is a cozy, small space;however, very loud. The eggplant parm, homemade pasta and red sauce were superb!
Writing this after I reviewed. Not at all happy with the fact that I made a reservation with a 1000 point reward to only receive 100........deceptive
Awesome Italian food! Especially the giant meatballs!
We went there to eat real Italian we come from Maine to visit the North End the food was excellent our server was so so and the Coffee machine was down at the time another bummer. However after Dinner we started to leave we sat downstairs a different waiter caught up to us just walking out the front door to give us a shopping bag that we had left behind very very much appreciated and yes we will return 👌🇮🇹
Such a delish place, and all the staples are great!
We were in Boston for a long weekend and found Nico through Open Table. As there are SO many restaurants in the North End, we appreciated the recommendation. We had a very nice dinner with great service. The main floor's dining room is small but lively. It wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other, though. I couldn't decide between two dishes, so our server suggested letting them make something custom. It was just what i wanted....perfect! If we go back to Boston, I would go back to Nico.
Favorite north end spot - consistently top notch service in addition to quality food and excellent wine selection. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious and everyone inside is always happy!
Food was amazing overall experience was amazing we will definitely go back!
Cute place, but gets noisy when crowded. Four or maybe 5 TV sets at bar— up with that? Staff nice. Typical North End menu. I had chicken saltimbocca that I didn’t like much. It wasn’t like I had in Italy. Missing sage leaves, and because of that it wasn’t as flavorful. I prefer it pounded thin, and cooked quickly-that way the meat picks up lots of flavor. This was two boneless, skinless half breats—not pounded. Large serving. My friend had veal Marsala, and he said it was the best rendition he has had in Boston. Pasta came with our dishes. While the rigatoni was al dente, as it should be, it was drowning in sauce.
So happy I decided on Nico. It took me a while to scour the internet ratings. Fantastic food!
Continue to return for great Italian food. Love the quaint nature of the place. Warm evening with the windows opened adds to the over all experience
Went to Giacomo's the night before and though it couldn't be beaten. How wrong we were! Our server was great, but the highlight was the food. No word of a lie, it was the best Italian any of us have ever had! The only thing that could have made it better was the lady at the front. She was way more interested in talking to her friends than any of the customers.
Great meal as always! Rice balls, meatballs, homemade pasta.. all awesome..
I took my family to Nico for a great dinner. The food portions were generous and the wine selection was comprehensive.
Great food! Best Italian in all the north end.
Excellent house made pastas! With so many options in the North End, we would not hesitate to return.
Wonderful authentic Italian dining experience in Boston’s North End.
Fabulous food and service. We only had a couple of days in Boston and I’m so glad we were able to get in to Nico.
My advice: make reservations early.
When visiting from Portland Oregon we prioritized having dinner in the North End. We had a wonderful meal at Nico’s. We had a table for 2 in a quiet window table. The service was attentive without being overly intrusive. The staff made excellent recommendations about wine and food. The food was traditional and delicious.
Part of the Strega family, fantastic service and great food.
Amazing expericne! Great waitstaff! Wonderful drinks and wine. All the food was delicious and they were very accommodating for two of us that were gluten free. Highly recommend!!
Superb fresh pasta. Sauces were excellent. Service was impeccable.
Our server Tyler was great and so was the food! Good bar scene as well.
Great food. Definitely a treat after being at a conference all day.
Amazing we were in Boston for 4 days and ate here twice
Nico was authentic and special. The portions are great and you won’t leave hungry.
Nico was amazing! I was there with three other people and all of us LOVED the food, atmosphere and the waiter was the best! Ask for Ahkmed.
Amazing food in small, cramped setting. Ambience is classic North End. Only complaint was how reservation was handled. We had a reservation for 3 at 6:30 on a Saturday. We did not get seated until 7:30! Multiple times during the hour we were told it would be “soon” or “tables have paid but won’t get up.” Perhaps they overbook thinking some will be no-shows. We did get a free meatball with ricotta cheese appetizer for the delay, which was delicious.
We loved Nico! Our reservation was at 6 pm and we were seated on time . The service was great. The wine was very good .
Caesar salad was delicious.
I had the eggplant and fusilli it was excellent . My husband had the chicken parm and fusilli, he enjoyed it ! We look forward to returning there soon.
Our waiter was amazing !
Great authentic Italian food with the old country feeling! I had chicken marsala which was delicious and my husband had lobster ravioli with rave reviews. Can't wait to return to the north end of Boston for more fine dining at Nico's!
Great service and generous portions of food!
Make sure to read this review in full. Expect to wait awhile for a table even if you have reservations. The dining rooms are cramped and run down. But the waitstaff and food more than make up for the shortcomings. The food is as authentic as it gets, thr homemade pasta is amazing and the seafood is what you would expect in Boston! Our waiter was part of the authentic experience too, knew the food and made outstanding wine recommendations. Make sure to hit this place up.
The food and the service was excellent! Make your reservations NOW!!
Food and service were amazing!!! Definitely going back when we are in Boston again. Thank you Nico’s for a very memorable evening.
Food was good. Portions large. Waiter was preoccupied and appeared not to really care. Overall, a bit of a disappointment.
Service and food was outstanding! Alex was our server and he was warm, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Thank you for such a great first meal in Boston!!
