My friend made a light-hearted joke with the waiter and he took our wine glasses and said he couldn't serve us. We left before eating.
Graduation celebration. Service and food was amazing.
Great food, great service, place is small and was full on a Thursday. In a nice happening neighborhood
We sat downstairs, it was intimate and cozy. The service was outstanding and the food was off the charts! We will be back!
Fabulous! Best staff!
It is the best restaurant in North end!
Seating was extremely tight and to make matters worse, we were seated at the front of the restaurant with the beating sun heating up the room beyond comfortable temperatures. Not kid friendly. Couldn't wait for it to be over...
The food was very tasty, portion size good, and presentation was nice. I had the linguine with little necks, the wife had the veal. Yum! The restaurant is located just beyond the intense street commotion. Relaxing. We will be going back again some time.
We had a reservation for 8:00, but opted for a seat at the bar. Service and food were excellent, portions large. My husband could not say enough about the linguine with littlenecks and my veal was cooked perfectly. Great evening all around. We will return.
Loved this place! My wife’s birthday- great service, wine, food. Had not been here before....will definitely return on our next trip to Boston.
Service was excellent..food was even better!
Went with a group of 5 for Mother's Day. Food and service were both excellent; will be back on a future trip to Boston.
This was our first time to Nico and we will be back. The food was fantastic! Our server was very knowledgable about the food and the wine. When he learned we were there to celebrate Mother's Day, he brought a special dessert to the table. Restaurant is cozy and authentic. We had a wonderful evening.
As usual the food was spectacular, and the wait staff were absolutely wonderful. This time around it was James and he is just incredibly personable, attentive, funny and absolutely excellent. The singular exception was the female bartender, who we briefly encountered while we waited for our reservation time. Somewhat rude might be a good word to use and under poured on a glass of wine. When we brought this to her attention she poured a standard measure and took off in an”huff.” Must have been having a real bad day. But totally out of character for a member of staff at Nicos.
our server Tyler once again did an outstanding job! He made us feel like regulars and recommended some awesome wines to go with the delicious food. can't wait to come back to Nico.
Spectacular, original Italian food with large portions and excellent service. Nice wine list.
Great authentic North End, Boston atmosphere. Nice atmosphere.
Arrived 45 minutes early for a reservation and were asked to wait until our reservation time, which is not a problem. We decided to sit at the bar instead and after having a glass of wine decided we would just order dinner at the bar instead of waiting for our table. The bartender seemed to lack social skills to properly serve us. We were hardly greeted and had to ask for bread and oil and food menus, something customers at regular tables received from their servers without issue. Overall she was not very pleasant and definitely impacted our experience at the restaurant - had we sat at a table as we orginally planned, our experience may have been much different. Regarding the food, we started with the meatball and ricotta which was wonderful. The lobster ravioli was so-so - some had large chunks of lobster and some had nothing but ricotta. The ones that contained the lobster were very good, and the blush sauce was great to soak up with bread. The spaghetti e calamari was advertised as being sauteed with hot peppers, but the dish didn't have a hint of spice or peppers. Some of the calamari was cooked all the way through, other pieces were very tough. It wasn't my favorite experience in the North End, but I'd go back for a meatball and a glass of wine.
We were visiting in Boston for a couple of days and found this restaurant on Yelp. The food was fabulous! The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive, and very knowledgeable. The street level seating was close together but we did not feel that our space was invaded by the other diners. We would definitely go back.
Food was outstanding. Very authentic Italian flavor. Service was great. Friendly atmosphere.
Went to Nico with our group of 8 after my daughtsr’s Graduation from college. Had to wait a bit past our reservation time to be seated, but were able to get drinks at the bar. Wine list was good. Our waiter was excellent and made recommendations for the best items on the menu. For apps, we went with a couple recommended by the waiter - they were excellent. Everyone in our group loved their entree which ranged from the spaghetti with meatball (enormous), chicken Parmesan, mushroom ravioli, filet mignon and seafood pasta platter. All were excellent. Desserts were good, but not quite as special as I had hoped.
The food was excellent in all ways. Taste, temperature and presentation.
We shared a special grilled artichoke and fresh made mozzarella salad. It was very tasty.
The freshly made pasta was excellent.
The wait staff was attentive and helpful.
A bit crowded in the restaurant but that is what to expect in the traditional North end.
Would recommend this restaurant to any and all.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Everything from service, ambience and food selections. We were there to celebrate a college graduation and we had a wonderful time. This is why we keep coming back!
Food and service were both wonderful.
The service was great and they have a nice wine list. It is a small place and since it was full it was noisy. It was hard to have a conversation. Very disappointed in the porcini ravioli with truffle sauce. They used shiitake mushrooms too, so their flavor overwhelmed everything else so you could not taste the truffle or porcini. The seafood pasta my husband ordered was overcooked so the shellfish and lobsters were tough. It was a disappointment.
We had a group of 6 who were all quite pleased with the quality of our meals. I will echo some of the other reviews that mention not being seated until 45 - 60 minutes after the reservation though. The staff didn't do much to apologize for that wait either which made it seem fairly common.
We had a reservation on a busy Saturday night, but still... we waited for over half an hour. The place is tiny, and if people are enjoying relaxing after their meal, the reservation slot is probably not going to be accurate. Food was delicious, and not ridiculously overpriced, like much of the North End. Recommend the meatball appetizer!
A North End classic - we had the carbonara with house made fettuccine and the linguine Alla vongole with fra diavolo sauce, as well as a caprese salad. Both pastas were truly delicious and well portioned, and our waiter was kind enough to select a glass of wine to pair with each of our meals. The caprese was light and refreshing as a start to our meal. Both the pasta and the wine were phenomenal and my friend (visiting from NYC, hard to impress) was blown away. Service was attentive and had great suggestions. One of my go-to places.
Super loud and quite cramped. We had reservations at 7pm and were not seated until 7:35pm. The food was very good however it did feel like they were rushing to trying to get us out.
Very good food. The Chilean sea bass is excellent! Prompt and non intrusive service. Very good selection of wines. Definitely will go there again, Highly recommend.
Dinner at Nico is always wonderful! The food is excellent, service is friendly and efficient, they have our favorite wine and we leave throughly satisfied!
Our reserved table was ready upon arrival. The staff was very attentive and very professional. The food was outstanding, and relatively inexpensive. I would highly recommend Nico‘s to anyone to experience.
Great classic service just like times I’ve been in Italy.
The meatball appetizer was big enough to feed 4 people! And so delicious! The Rigatoni with sausage was bursting with flavor. Giant Portions! Quick friendly service! Very Festive!
Went to Nicos because of a gift certificate from my son,The food and service was fantastic,my wife enjoyed her wine and I don't drink so I had a soft drink.I ordered the chefs special a seafood dish that was the a combination of clams ,mussels ,scallops, shrimp, calamari, lobster tomatoes, garlic, hand made pasta. It was the best dish of that kind I have ever had simply fantastic! My wife had Chicken Marseille, and she enjoyed as much as I,she gave me a taste and it was superb. I would gladly recommend this restaurant to others.I really enjoyed my meal and time at Nicos
First time at Nico's. We had the best appetizer. The staff was attentive. The food was amazing. I would definitely go back.
Nico is one of our "Best Picks" for the North End: We have been there many times and always enjoy it.
Great italian food. Fresh and always tasty. Good service, home style and friendly. Always accomodating and never rushing anything
Nico was fabulous! Food was excellent and service was outstanding!
Weren’t seated until 30 minutes after reservation. Service from waiter was ambivalent at best. At least the food was delicious.
Very good food and service. Good atmosphere, and fairly priced.
