Nick & Sam's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Loved most everything about this restaurant but the experience was kind of ruined in the beginning when the waiter let out a huge SIGH when we asked for separate checks. He tried to get us to just split it 4 ways but we were a group of girls going to a concert, some didn't drink, one is a vegetarian, one had a daughter with so it didn't make sense to split it equally. This is an upscale place, and it may be looked down upon to split checks, but I assume such a place would have a system where it would not require such a rude response to do so. I was a server 10 years ago and even then, splitting checks was easy.
I had the Bison Filet. It was quite thin (less than one inch thick) and was barely warm. My companion had fried lobster tail ($150) and it was so salty, it was not edible. Appetizers were a non-event, and the red velvet cake served for dessert was half the normal portion (according to our waiter) because they ran out.
Service was excellent. Food was marginal, and not anywhere worth the $400 I paid for two to eat.
Having been to N&S's before, I was a bit disappointing in the steak. I have been here other times and had the same filet and it was bursting with flavor. This time around, it was nice and pink in the center how i liked it but yet it still lacked a bit of flavor. I never need steak sauce but this time around, I felt it was necessary. All of the staff was incredible, from the hostess, the bartenders and our server. We felt very well taken care of and will definitely go back!
The restaurant is very noisy and our service was terrible. Our waiter had our table and from what I could see, at least 3 other tables with a large party at one of the tables. For the price that you pay food at Nic and Sams you should get better service than what we received.
The wife and I went here for Thanksgiving. In addition to the great menu, they had specialty items, including Tuna Tartare with a cotton candy topping. They used a hot (temperature) sauce to melt the cotton candy over the tuna. It was DELICIOUS!!! We also had the calamari, which was one of the best I've had in Dallas. The steaks are always delicious.
This has previously been the go to place for special occasions and celebrations, but this past Sunday was glow sticks and glowing cotton candy, I'm not kidding. Won't spend that kind of money again to be surrounded by that and that kind of noise. Not again.
The food, service, atmosphere, and artwork at Nick & Sam’s were all divine. Truly a sight to behold. My fiancé and I’s evening dinner started out at 7pm on the dot with absolutely no wait. We did make a reservation, and we have had to wait the standard fifteen minutes after the reservation time before at other establishments, so this was a pleasant surprise! We were greeted by our server almost immediately, and he made a point to congratulate us on our 5th year anniversary. We asked to see the somm. and were absolutely astonished by his knowledge, and the wine he helped us select was absolutely top-notch (Four Graces Pinot Noir). The steaks we ordered were prepared slowly enough for us to enjoy our wine and complementary caviar, but quickly enough for us to receive them directly after our app. was picked up! All in all Nick & Sam’s provided us a truly spectacular experience and we are deeply grateful to the staff for providing us with such a beautiful meal to accompany our celebrating of five years together!
Top notch steak house, but way, way over-priced. Just as good, if not better, meals available at lots of Dallas steak houses. Plus, $33 for a glass of good, not great, wine is too much. Steaks were very good and cooked as directed, but my oysters Rockefeller were just room temperature, not hot. Adjacent table of 10-12 included 3 very noisy children playing video games. How can parents be so inconsiderate and rude?
Everything about this place wowed me!!
Food, service etc!!
Only thing I suggest, eliminate just a few tables to create more room... really uncomfortable having people squeeze right behind you while eating. Got bumped several times, spilled my drink on me. Other than that, really great place! 10 STARS.
I have been eating at Nick and Sams for several years. WE have always gone for special occasions like bdays and Christmas. This trip was for our daughter's 35th birthday. We had our 3 year old grandaughter with us. Our daughter is a cardiac surgeon in Dallas, and my husband and I have been in healthcare for 40 years. I am just wondering now if this is just a hot spot for young people or I am just not sure how to put it into words. As soon as they found out we needed a high chair I feel it was different. I felt we were rushed through dinner. My husband's steak was extremely over done. So was my son in law's. The glitter was on the table for bday, but, a candle or sparkler was not offered until asked for something with dessert. In fact, her bday was never brought up until I finally said something. Our daughter wanted to go to Ocean Prime, but I talked her out of it. I am regretting that decision now. Yes, I know you are extremely busy on Saturdays, and its the hot spot to be, but for a $400.00 dinner, no special attention was made to us. Very disappointing. That may not be a lot of money to most people there, but it is to me.
Excellent steakhouse. Probably the best I’ve ever been to and I’m comparing to all the NY steakhouses. Porterhouse was perfectly cooked and unbelievable. Our waiter Ryan was phenomenal. Complimentary caviar bar as well. Very accommodating for gluten free as well. Can’t say enough about our experience.
Overall I had received many reccomendations to this place and it lived up to everything I expected. The steaks were amazing, sushi was to die for, service was impeccable. Could of been more personable being it was our anniversary but still very romantic setting
