Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
New York Prime Steakhouse - Myrtle Beach offers an "amazing dining experience" with "phenomenal" steaks and "first-class" service. Diners rave about the "perfectly cooked" Delmonico and filet steaks, as well as the attentive staff. Though a bit pricey, guests find the meals "worth every penny." The atmosphere is upscale, but some find it "loud" at times. Overall, it's a "top choice" for steak lovers and special occasions.

This may be my 3rd....4th(?) review of NY Prime, and this one will be no different: I will put NY Prime up against the best steak houses out there in terms of quality of service, atmosphere and of course the steaks. Who would have thought something like this could exist in Myrtle Beach?! Go, and enjoy!

This is the only place I go for steak. It’s more than an hour from Southport but so worth the trip. Outstanding quality all around. Food, service, ambiance. NY steakhouse experience in Myrtle Beach.

Ordered the filet medium and the delmonico medium rare. Both came out medium well to well. The onion rings were dry and chewy. The staff was great.

New York Prime made a change, a corporate change we were told, about 6 months ago. The main change seems to be the music, we're used to a old style Vegas night club vibe, aka Oceans 11 type image. Upscale, with a bit of Sinatra, Dean Martin, glitz/glamour type vibe. They changed it to a 70's rock and roll vibe – so think Janus Joplin or Jimmy Hendrix, and I have to say the vibe doesn't match the food and decor. It's like you're paying top dollar, and the music vibe reminds you of a tailgate or college dorm party with an ice chest full of beer and you feel like maybe you’re a bit overdressed and should switch back to shorts and a tie dyed T-shirt. However, some folks like that, I don’t. If I’m paying that kind of money I’d like it to be more upscale. To top it off the music was so loud that we couldn’t even have a conversation at our table. We asked management to turn it down a notch if they could. They were very accommodating and did that and also changed their music selection to a blend of genres and years and lowered the volume a bit, so that the music was in the background instead of being the main event. Now on to the food - the food was great, steaks perfectly cooked, the Lyonnaise potatoes were a bit overcooked as were the grilled Brussel sprouts. I'm not sure why cooks think they must grill the sprouts to death, but quite a few were blackened to the point of not being edible. The service was good, however it seemed to be a little bit of a goat rope this evening, with too many servers for the number of guests. They seemed to get into each other’s way, that being said, it’s not the norm. and we highly recommend this restaurant for the food. Our dinner for 5 with drinks came to about $735 with tip. We’ll give it another try, but if they persist with the loud 70’s music and keep the same décor, then we’ll just go to a local bar and listen to it there and have oysters and beer and wear our shorts and flip flops, plus it'll be cheaper.

The food, service, wait staff, everything was amazing. Super friendly people which really goes a long way. Again, though, the steaks were perfection and the Caesar salad incredible and the Brussels sprouts sealed the deal. Pocketbook a little lighter now but was totally worth it!
