The service was excellent and every person we met was very polite. Our server spoke perfect English and was attentive to our needs. We had a room to ourselves and we admired the beautiful table and my family were speechless when they entered. Finally, the meal was a journey. It started gently with each course to prepare our pallet for the star of the meal - Kobe steak! I have had Wagyu in Japan and from my home country, England. However, this steak was on a much higher level. It was perfectly cooked with a lovely charring. Every bite was an exolotion of juices with never ending flavours. My family agree that this is the best meal we have had. Thank you for a lovely experience!!!

An intimate omakase experience that we will remember forever. Shinju was phenomenal and had fantastic english skills which made our dinner a lot easier to enjoy/understand as he was able to describe each course in great detail. Each course was memorable and he combined traditional and modern sushi techniques throughout. We had great conversations with the 4 other guests (2 from Washington DC and 2 from Puerto Rico) and Shinju the entire time, which made our night even more enjoyable. Will definitely try to book again during our next trip to Tokyo…highly recommend to anyone looking for an incredible experience.

When the servings first came out, I thought "they're tiny, how could this possible make us full?" But oh was I wrong. There was enough through all the courses that I began to struggle finishing them near the end. That notwithstanding, the food was fantastic. They were prepared exquisitely and the ingredients were all top-flight. There is an explanation of every dish and even some light food prep performance. Overall a great experience, would recommend it to anyone.

We went to this restaurant based on Yelp recommendations on our last night in Tokyo and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed an amazing pre-fix menu with amazing sushi as the highlight. The atmosphere with the open kitchen was really fun and the service was friendly, energetic and attentive. Loved our dinner there.

Essence was so wonderful. The food was delicious, with unique tastes and flavors, the chef was very friendly and attentive, and (most importantly) my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was really enjoying the bread rolls ... and as we were leaving the chef offered us a fresh loaf to take home! Just an all around great experience.
