- SSandraEast Tennessee •9 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoA milestone birthday celebration was made so much more special by the generosity of Vandiver and its attentive staff. The French onion soup was the best we've had, and the short rib tortellini was fantastic. This is hands-down the best restaurant now in Clayton. Alex was wonderful throughout our magical evening. I can't recommend this gem highly enough. Stories indeed begin here.More infoThe VandiverPrice: Moderate• American• Clayton•4.7

Discover Hiawassee
The scenic mountain town of Hiawassee is a nature lover's dream. Whether you're in town to hike or you live here, there are many memorable dining options. Barbecue makes a perfect complement to the woodsy atmosphere. Ribs are an obvious choice, and try fried corn on the cob and Brunswick stew on the side. If you've worked up an appetite on Lake Chatuge, then consider a steakhouse menu. A classic T-bone and baked potato would be a great way to end the day. For some laid-back Southern fare, a popular family restaurant has fried chicken followed by a strawberry cobbler. If you're looking for something spicy, locals love the homemade chicken soup and towering fajita platters at the traditional Mexican restaurant in town.
