- OTOpenTable DinerOrange County •5 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoI love Nobu, I frequent other locations, but this was my 1st time at Newport. Everything was really relaxed initially, came in for a lunch for a birthday, they text me to get her name on dessert etc. However as the meal was winding down, our waiter disappeared. Unsure if it was a shift change or what have you, but we got a new guy, who was very nice. When they were preparing our bill they asked if it was a split check. It was just myself and my partner, we sat at a table for 2. I said no just one check. They proceeded to bring a check for my table and the table next to me. The gentleman at the table was black, (as am I). We were the only black people dining there, and we had no encounter with him at all. They assumed we were Al together and gave me his bill combined with mine. I didn’t notice it until I saw some food I didn’t order so I let the waiter know. He said oh, you sure? He ordered it and pointed at the guy at the other table. I said we aren’t together, we are just 2 black guys, and he said ooohhh. It got very awkward, and was strange because well, why would someone assume that? He brought a second check which was the exact same check as the first, and the. He used the mobile device to separate it. Embarrassing, but also unfortunate. They also forgot my partners names on her desserts, even though they reached out to do so. I was preparing to come here a bit more often, but I think this will be my first and final time. Unfortunate experience, and bitter with it being the last moment there. Everything was going so smoothly until then!More infoNobu NewportPrice: Very Expensive• Japanese• Newport Beach•4.7

The ambiance could not have been better, especially with the sunny day, the temperature being in the low 70s, and the slight breeze. Our waitress was outstanding ... so personable, polite, attentive, and always smiling. This is a great restaurant to have lunch with family, friends, out-of-town visitors, etc. After dessert, we went and perused the Halloween display and the rest of the nursery at Roger's Gardens. This was such a wonderful time together!More infoFarmhouse at Rogers GardensPrice: Expensive• American• Corona del Mar•4.8
