Cartago Restaurants

We had lunch at an odd hour so we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. The appetizers were very good, had the burrata cheese, a shrimp dish and cow tongue ( my wife ordered this), all very well presented and tasty each in its own unique way. Our mains were a New York steak for my wife and I had the Pork-belly dish, tasty. Her steak was cooked medium to raw and had to be returned as she had ordered it medium well, nevertheless the server was on point and did an outstanding job of making us feel at ease and special; suffice to say, that is the principal reason why I gave it an outstanding rating. Had the goat cheese- cheesecake for dessert and it ranks as one of the best I’ve had. Overall, excellent quality food-wise, but the service was outstanding; well done! We will be back!

Exceptional presentation, great story about the country of Costa Rica. The tasting menu is a real treat if it’s your first visit. Jesus our server was wonderful. Highly recommend

We did the chefs tasting and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and had many unexpected flavors and touches. Everything was plated beautifully and the service was amazing. Really lovely people and space.

With no street level signage, but welcoming staff to open the red gate, we entered in to a delightful dining experience. Wait staff was welcoming, described the small plate options beautifully and the food was outstanding! The drink options were delicious, especially recommended is the spicy margarita! Wine bar does not accurately describe the restaurant as wine selection is exceptionally limited, but the red wine we had was excellent! Certainly will be back when we return to Costa Rica!!

Rybeye quality is Top!!! All dishes (Tomato Soup, Beef Carpacio, Chorizo, hamburguer) are delicious!!! Great service from Luis and staff.
