Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures Restaurants

We visited Restaurant Champlain to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and to explore the culinary creativity of Chef Molleur-Langevin. We were not disappointed. The food was locally sourced, deeply inspired and universally delicious. Marc-André and his team provided impeccable service, delivering each course of the tasting menu with style and a cadence that flowed perfectly through the evening. Having our main course delivered and presented by Chef Gabriel himself, was a gift that will not be forgotten. He is, without a doubt, a rapidly rising culinary star. We will be returning.

Wonderful experience overall- the food and service are first rate, which is to be expected given the location. The decor is a little bit too '90s for my taste- too much brass/metal, which doesn't fit with the Chateau's decor in my opinion- but it was spotless and well maintained. The staff was efficient, helpful and professional without being overbearing. I had the beef cheek poutine and my wife had the Boston salad with chicken, which were both outstanding (my wife said her salad was the best she had ever had). The poutine was melt in your mouth spectacular, with some nice flavor twists I wouldn't expect from 'traditional' poutine. Drinks, soups, coffee and dessert (creme' brulee) also were top notch We had no trouble securing a reservation for lunch, which I would recommend. The only quibble was that I found it difficult to ascertain what each seating area represented by the description. I chose the alcove, which was comfortable but did not offer a view of the river. I will do better next visit

The afternoon tea we had was an experience And totally different to the ones we have in england

Old world charm experience: ambience, table side service and warmth. We ordered the chateaubriand for 2 that came with 5 small portions of vegetables perfectly seasoned. The dish was seared table side and checked for our desired temperature of medium rare. Dessert was a chocolate mousse that was so silky smooth and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
