Nanea Restaurant and Bar
The menu was broad in terms of protein entries, appetizers, salads, desserts and adult beverages. I loved the bones beef short rib entree. My spouse thought the Mahi was very delicious but felt that fish would have been better with a panko encrusted mac nut like other restaurants. Bread and garlic whipped butter was excellent. Unfortunately the service was super slow, our salads were delayed - forgotten actually. Our server stopped the kitchen from delivering our entrees before the salad. Dining outside with a view of the green belt full of tiki torches under a full moon next to the rock waterfall made it a great evening.
Very good food and service once you get past the very rude hostess. We had the fresh fish catch of the day whch was Mahi Mahi. Cooked perfectly. Views were outstanding.
Nanea has continually improved since we first came to the Westin Princeville 12 years ago. This meal was great for a Time Sharing facility unlike a major hotel which must have the great restaurant as part of it’s attraction. It is nice some nights to just stay home and eat at the Nanea and we I’ll continue to do knowing it will even get better as the years go by.
This was our first dinner at Nanea in several years, but by far our best meal during a two-week stay on Kauai. The food was delicious - wonderfully fresh fish, a tasty scampi, a caesar salad big enough to share. The service was timely, and since we chose to eat indoors rather than on the very popular covered terrace, we had the immediate area to ourselves. This was our last night in Hawaii for this vacation, and it could not possibly have been a better meal.
The food was well beyond my expectation for location. Very pleased
We enjoyed the food and the ambiance at Nanea Restaurant. My seared Ahi was prepared just right. Delicious. My wife had the prime rib which was cooked to perfection. The rosemary made it so good. Pineapple cake was a good way to finish the nice Hawaiian dining experience.
mediocore food. freat service.
Great food, great service, beautiful scenery. Steak and Monchong were both 10/10.
We took my parents to Nanea for their 50th anniversary, which I indicated when booking. From check in to when we left, my parents were treated very special, from roses on the table to a wonderful desert that the chef created just for them.
The food was spectacular, service impeccable and the views out of this world. Thank you for making this special day more memorable for our family!
This is an excellent restaurant with spectacular food (for the most part) and incredible cocktails tucked in the Westin hotel. It has a great view and atmosphere of an upscale hotel pool with a view over part of the North shore. We found the cocktails exceptional. The crab cakes were best we've had. However, the salad and rissoto were mediocre and somewhat tasteless. The entrees were all loved.
Short rib crostini was exceptional- we’ll be back
Lovely outdoor patio by the garden waterfall and pool in the distance. Many tiki torches in the area. The menu is geared to land but specials are ocean. Two of us had the pesto Ono which was fabulous but it came with a whole pan seared potato, way too much and not appropriate accompaniment for fish. Our other party ordered the short rib appetizer as entree. It was delicious but portion was more than an entree. We also started with caprese salad. Really nice local greens and again huge. Easily can be shared. Bottom line, plan to share. Parking no issue (which it often is at other places on the north shore. We’d go back.
Meals were cold when they brought them. Quite pricey, however the quality was really good. Service was a bit slow as it was a very slow night and we didn’t feel like they gave us any extra attention or consideration.
Lovely food and food options for those with allergies. We come for brunch every time we are on Kauai!
What a gem...
We had the five course tasting menu with the paired wines. Exceptional food, a wonderful mix of flavors, fresh and cooked just right. This was complimented by an attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, waiter and live music from a singer/pianist.
This was a surprise given the relatively modest surroundings and poolside location. Well priced, and truly a memorable dining experience.
Not at all what we were expecting. More like a poolside cafe than a nice restaurant. Our server, Jakob, was very nice & helpful but service was very slow & our Entree’s were served before we finished our appetizers. The presenter just pushed our appetizers with the dish to the center, never said a word other than it was hot. Jakob apologized when we pointed this out. Food was mostly good. Drinks took a good 10 minutes each time to arrive. They were just coke & wine. The pool was right there and all we could hear was screaming kids. Did not think this place was worth the price.
Great location, food and cocktails.
We were early and the manager was not exact pleasant.
The rest of the staff were great.
View was great right in front of the surfing location.
I like the lobster deviled eggs.
Awful food and very slow service. Location is pretty, but can not recommend this place. So many better places on the island.
Nanea is a nice, casual place to dine. Ambiance is very casual. Service is VERY slow, not the server's fault. Cocktails took 15 minutes to arrive.
Great food and service for our last night in Kauai. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
We went for the Sunday brunch. Food selection was good and as advertised. The food could have been kept at hotter temperatures as the Kalua Pig Eggs Benedict and waffles were cold. The MTO omelette was very good. The poke had probably been out too long and was not kept cold. Overall a good value but focus on food temperatures especially in the last hour of the service
We ate here on our first night in Kauai... very nice ambiance/ setting. Great staff. Food was what you'd expect... slightly above average expensive hotel food. Definitely better restaurants on the island, but if you're staying in the Princeville area/ resort, it's an option to consider.
We went for our anniversary and the table was set special with a white tablecloth and a vase of red roses. We decided on the 5 course meal which was so incredibly delicious. Each dish was prepared to perfection. The risotto with mushrooms & spinach was piping hot and perfect amount. Then the fish was Ono with a delicious sauce. Then the filet mignon was outstanding with flavorful mashed potatoes!
The tasting menu and wine pairing are one of the best “fancier” meals in terms of value we found on all of Kauai.
Yes I would recommend it because the food was good and our server was friendly . We would have enjoyed it a bit better if there were some more choices on the menu, however, the biggest complaint was the fact that we couldn’t carry on a conversation or enjoy the second half of our meal due to 4 rude and boisterous women sitting at a nearby table. We realize it is not the fault of the restaurant, but I wanted to state this so patrons understand that their actions can have an effect on other people around them and can have an adverse effect on the establishment.
None does not disappoint. Staff is always friendly. Food delicious. Great spot to celebrate.
We went to dinner here on Hawaii night (Mondays) and had a really lovely time. To start, we were greeted by a hostess who truly treated the guests with reservations well (she knew you’d want to sit outside with a reservation, and she even asked about the dietary restrictions that were listed in my profile to see if I needed a particular menu- that’s the first time that’s ever happened to me!). Then we were seated at a great table where we could enjoy the live performance and our server greeted us. He was so helpful and kind and really made our evening. He gave great advice on what to eat and was very thoughtful. And the food was delicious to boot! So grateful for a lovely evening.
Hey KAUAI this is a sleeper on the north shore. Really great food. Mark was a great waiter that made the evening.
And we got the 12% Kama aina.
Give it s go
Third time to Nanea - first two times were wonderful experiences. This time we had to wait forever for everything. We had to wait for our waitress to first appear, then for our drinks to be served and the worst was the 45 minute wait to have our entrees served. This was after waiting for our waitress to take our dinner order! The service simply ruined the experience. We are locals - we won't be returning.
Nice location, food just okay. Not worth the price.
Simply put, it's hotel food. Nothing fantastic to report.
Easter brunch. Wonderful selections of food. Very noisy. Best part didn’t feel rushed.
Food good, service very good. Much more casual than advertised. Our table was fine but bussing on others much delayed.
Food was wonderful. A bit pricey, but the best meal we had on Kauai.
We are locals and were taking friends out to dinner. Both my wife and I ordered the shrimp scampi, which was not fresh. I did not finish mine. Service was okay. One other note, I called the front desk for a reservation. Was transferred to the concierge and had to leave a voice mail to call me back. No call back. I did book on line, which was quite convenient.
Wife and I celebrated our 10 years anniversary and absolutely loved this place. The Ribeye was excellent and the Apple Banana Bread pudding was wonderful.
A great place for four friends to dine. Special attention and accomodation was given to my unusual food allergy and I greatly appreciated it. Delicious food, friendly and kind staff, and a beautiful setting made for a wonderful dining experience.
Food was great - service was so incredibly slow. 20 min before we got water!
I was very pleasantly surprised. Meal was great and service was very good
Loved the live music!!
