My fiancée and I were celebrating our engagement and we had a great time. The food and service were both great and they were very nice about accommodating a special request for a dessert. We got some free sparkling dessert wine at the end that was very thoughtful.
I definitely enjoyed the restaurant. I think they have one of the best bars in town. Our cocktail, old-fashioned, was 5 star. For dinner I skipped the main course and had the mussel appetizer (too much to eat as an ap unless sharing) and the bibb salad. I love the flavor they give the mussels with a delicious broth. I wanted to have a steak, but changed at the last minute. I would love to see some smaller, lighter appetizers on the menu, making it easier to order w/o sharing. Quite a few of the appetizers are big enough to be a main! The dessert we shared, boston cream trifle, was just average.
Such a great brunch experience at Nana Steak! The staff was attentive, informative and very friendly. The ambiance and setting was beautiful and relaxed. We truly enjoyed ourselves and will be back!
Service was horrible, steak was tough and lacking flavor.
Varied menu, good service,
First table in from door cold when customers entered. Otherwise excellent
It's always a treat to dine at NanaSteak. From cocktails to dessert, everything is perfectly presented by their knowledgeable staff.
All the staff at nana stake are wonderful the food is ! the ambience, the lighting in the is so subtle, very nice, comfortable and romantic just a great place for a nice dinner! Again...the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD! You wont be disappointed!
So many good things - every bit of food was delicious, great service from Andrew and all the other servers we encountered yesterday evening. The Pork Chop and roasted root vegetables were flawless, as was the Chipotle Caesar salad. Stuffed ourselves with two great desserts: buttermilk panna cotta and creme brûlée. Really enjoyed ourselves!
*I wish the outstanding service could have started and ended with the hostess, but there was a disconnect there.
Food is always delicious, service is amazing, the place we always go to celebrate or treat ourselves to an amazing dining experience.
Great food, excellent service. Wonderful drinks from the bar. Thoroughly enjoyed our pre-DPAC visit. Will definitely be back. Small 2-top tables are VERY close to one another. That’s my only 4-star reason for ambience. But they did spread people out at those tables until it was necessary to start seating guests side by side.
Very convenient when attending a show at DPAC. Food solid choices but not spectacular. Cocktails and wine terrific.
NanaSteak is in the heart of downtown Durham (immediately adjacent to DPAC). Great place to go before a show at DPAC but be sure to have reservations. Or just wait until the show starts and go in. Their burger special is always great.
Fantastic dinner before a show! Highly recommend!
Excellent service and delicious food even for a pescatarian. The bouillabaisse is outstanding!
So good! Steaks are exceptional. Espresso martinis are so good! Service was awesome
My bride and I met there before seeing Rent at DPAC. The service, atmosphere, and hospitality as well as the food were exquisite.
We had a great night at NanaSteak. Any complaints would only really be nitpicking.
The good: The service. Our waiter Seth was really good. He knew the menu, made some great recommendations and had great timing. He was attentive and made sure we had were taken care of at all times. He also took care of some details for my Wife’s birthday.
The food. Our steaks were awesome. Very lean but flavorful ribeye for me. My wife had the filet and said it was great. Their steak fries are crazy good. One friend had the gnocchi appetizer and raves about that too. Even the wine and bread were excellent.
The location. Super convenient for DPAC. That’s how we found the place. Walked in on a show night and couldn’t get a table so we made a reservation for her birthday instead.
The nitpicking: it was a show night at DPAC and we weren’t attending. Turned into the restaurant/hotel area and basically got waved in to the point of no return for 7$ garage parking. Not the restaurants fault in anyway but after we made 2 laps and gave up on street parking, this was the best case scenario anyway.
The kitchen was a little slow getting dinner out. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t up to the standard of the rest of the meal. Also, my ribeye was ordered medium but definitely came out a medium well. The flavor made up for it though.
We’d definitely come back to NaNa, especially if we go to American Tobacco area for events.
Consistently great in all measurement
Such a wonderful experience! We loved everything!
Steak was a pretty smokey but still delicious and sides/drinks were great. Service & atmosphere made this a great place for a bday dinner!
Sunday brunch before a DPAC show. Excellent and spicy Bloody Mary for me and very fresh and fizzy Prosecco for my wife. My wife had a pancakes, eggs and bacon plate. Three full sized pancakes were too much, only finished 1 1/2. She said the scrambled eggs were among the best she’s ever had, didn’t want to share. I had the bowl of mussels. Excellent, large plump and well seasoned. The broth was delicious, used the focaccia bread to sop it up. Service is always top notch, managers and team leaders work as hard as anyone. Always an enjoyable experience.
Fabulous food, excellent service, quiet dining room
We always eat here before DPAC show. Has never let us down.
Food was very good. Drinks were average. Staff was very accommodating and service was very good
I love Nana’s Steak and it is one of my favorite destinations when we attend DPAC. The food and service are always very good. This time my steak was a bit overcooked. I asked for a medium+ cook on but it came well done, Still very tasty. Next time I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and just order medium.
The tables for couple s are pretty close together, making the noise level a bit high and conversations easy to overhear.
All in all, minor quibbles . Over all, it’s worth the $!
Absolutely one of my favorite places! The food and atmosphere is amazing!
Delicious brunch and wonderful service. Love the St. Charlotte cocktail! What a great time and bargain as well!
A very nice evening catching up with friends. Food was excellent and only issue with service is that server was slow to come by after we were initially seated but overall fine.
Food was prepared perfectly;
I guess I expected too much
New Years dining experience did not disappoint!
It is a great brunch place. The food and service were excellent. The ambiance was great. And it has a great location with easy access and parking and right next to DPAC and the Durham Bulls ballpark. We will be back.
Very quiet and elegant vibe. Food is very decent. We especially enjoyed the mussels (fresh, large ones with solid sauce and bread). The steaks could use more sitting since the juices were sipping out quite a lot for both orders. The New York Strip has a bit much tendon so it was a bit more chewy then expected. Drinks was good. Overall the food presentation left a good impression. They also offer a variety of well baked breads. Value is amazing. Would visit again.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner here. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Best steak and egg brunch I’ve had in the Triangle. Surprisingly quick service given how full the restaurant was.
This has got to be the best brunch menu in Durham - it covers all the bases and is very well priced too. Cooking was good, occasionally great. We will be back.
We’ve had dinner here many times but this was the first brunch. The menu options pleased the pickiest of eaters in our group and the food (every dish) was well executed and delicious. We did have a lag between the serving of beef and non-beef entrees which left a few awkward minutes where half our party had food and it took awhile for the first entrees to come. But other than that we had a great experience. The location before or after a DPAC show makes this restaurant top of our list when visiting DPAC.
