Musso & Frank Grill Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is elegant old school with beautiful, warm wood and great waitstaff. The food is solid classic steakhouse and cocktails are the best around. Had a great time sitting at the bar drinking an excellent Manhattan (and I'm picky), chatting with my bartender, until my friends arrived. The booth was cozy and the food was great. It was a perfect meal. Thank you!
Musso and Frank’s is an institution, now in it’s 99th year of operation. Serving up the classic menu of the a bygone era, Musso and Frank’s will outlast every current fad in the world of dining. Without apologies, Musso’s serves meat and potatoes, classic cocktails and old Hollywood ambience, with red-jacketed waiters, eager to please.
Four of us dined on the evening after Valentine’s Day and it was a great evening. Food and service were spot on and Miguel is the best example of a great, classy server. They honored my seating location request and even though they were very busy, we were never rushed and felt welcome the entire evening. Well worth the heavy traffic 2 hour drive! Well done!
Booked a valentines dinner for 5pm. Ran late and called ahead knowing it was gonna be crowded. Peter answered and said no problem, come on down. We’ll make it happen.
Got there and was seated right away with a friendly face and Peter sitting behind the podium confirming our reservation.
Old restaurant, 1915 Est they said. Nice dim lighting and the whole atmosshpere makes your mind wonder back to the old days.
Ordered a Manhattan, boy was it strong! Next came some Fresh bread and butter. I ordered the Ribeye (bone in) and fiancé order Prime rib. Huge and thick cuts! It was Delish! $$$
Definitely coming back!
I can't call it retro, because it's just been this way forever. It's old school and it's great. I can order a cocktail that my parents or their friends would have ordered - a Rob Roy, Sidecar, Manhattan - and discover why they like them so much. I can eat a classic meal, lamb chops to die for, steak done dependably and well......my new old favorite restaurant.
Musso and Frank never disappoints. It takes us at least an hour to get there, because there's no convenient way to do it, but it's always well worth it. Unfortunately, even though it was Wednesday, they were out of sauerbraten, the usual special for that night. No problem. My pasta dish was excellent, and my wife enjoyed her linguini and clams.
Musso & Frank is authentic Hollywood. The food is excellent, especially the steak. These are the best bartenders in the business; it's a treat just to watch them work. The ambiance is electrifying! Musso & Frank is perfect for a special occasion. On our last visit, our waiter Leonardo was very friendly and engaging. He's a second-generation employee. Note: it gets loud, so parties of more than 6 or 8 might have trouble holding a single conversation.
I’ve always wanted to eat at this landmark, and I was looking forward to my martini and whatever. However they blew me away with the steak tartare and pickled herring - where can you find these treats without a search?!
Their regular menu plus the specials should accommodate any tastes.
Definitely cuisine from the bygone era, which is consoling. However my wife’s special of risotto with escargots and mushrooms definitely pushed the boundaries.
Our server was attentive caring.
Can’t wait to return.
As this restaurant nears the century mark in 2019, it’s still serving excellent food. My wife and adult daughter each had prime rib and I had the French cut lamb chops (with baked potatoes and salad). All were outstanding. The desserts (creme brûlée and trio of sorbets) were also excellent; however, my wife’s small freebie birthday cake and ice cream was very ordinary (and she was dissapointed the waiter(s) didn’t sing happy birthday to her. Other than that, the service was very good. We will go back for another special occasion or for a pre-theater dinner, but the prices are too high to make this a regular dinner stop.
