Muse at The Ritz-Carlton Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
We took a dear friend for a birthday breakfast at this beautiful, comfortable and quiet restaurant. There was nothing unusual on the menu but everything was beautifully prepared and tasty, and the service was wonderful. The restaurant even brought my friend a plate of fruit and chocolate inscribed with birthday wishes. She had the oatmeal, I had the excellent eggs Benedict with tomato instead of bacon, and my husband had the omelette. The coffee was great too.
The main restaurant was under construction, so we sat in a side area that resembled more of
a hotel lobby and not really a nice restaurant. Brunch items like frittata and omelettes were nothing special for the price. The coffee was excessively strong and dense. One could certainly get more (quantity and quality-wise) at a local breakfast place. Plus the hotel refused to validate the valet parking (counter to the information given to us by the front restaurant staff). Will not be returning.
I expected more. While the food was generally very good, the restaurant was very small and service was overall just OK. With all of the options available I don't think I'll go back. Also be prepared, while they do validate your valet parking it only covers $4 of the $20 total.
This was horrible. The menu was like every corporate hotel in America. The Bloody Marys tasted like Clamato with some vodka stirred in. The Caesar salad tasted as though the lettuce had come from a bag at the supermarket. I actually sent mine back. They were very nice about it but I would not go back.
Wow, not at all what one would expect from a Ritz-Carleton. We checked in with the hostess, who seemed really surprised to see us; she then disappeared for a few minutes, ostensibly to clean a table, which, when we sat, was full of food streaks and the chairs required a hand dusting to clear them of crumbs. The service was then interminably slow, and we finally received our food after a 40 minute wait (and a chasing down of random servers several times to inquire about its status). The food itself was quite good but the coup d grace was when the server double billed us, which happily, one of the more observant members of the party spotted before we all signed off. There are far better places to dine in Cleveland. Save your money and patience for one of them.
Due to construction, meals were being served in the cocktail lounge so the usual atmosphere was not there. But the food was, as usual, superb. My wife and I dine at all or most of the fine dining places in Cleveland and we believe Muse is the best place for the gourmet. It is always exceptional.
I made a reservation for 5:30 PM on a Friday evening. Upon arriving, we found that there was an event in the restaurant and it was completely booked. We were escorted to the lobby dining area and seated. The host informed us that, due to the event, they would be serving in the lobby dining area. When I made the reservation, nobody informed me of these changes. I even called that day to confirm the reservation and, again, nobody informed me. I chose to dine at Muse so that I could dine AT Muse. Not eat in the lobby. It was extremely disingenuous of the staff to not inform me of the circumstances until I had already arrived. I will not be returning.
This is a special place for us. We went downtown on the Rapid to see the art work and the new Public Square. I decided to have a romantic champagne breakfast. Jack was our waiter and as always makes you feel at home and want to return. Unfortunately the champagne we order they were out of. Jack offered another one at the same price. The breakfast was great and so was the service.
The food was extremely expensive for the poor taste. One course was so bad we couldn't even eat it. It appears the Chef is trying too hard to be unique in his creations, but the flavored in the dishes simply do not go together. We had the seasonal specials, plus the calamari appetizer.
- Calamari was beyond salty
-Crab salad on top of pineapple was inedible
- Mahi was tiny, overcooked, and sides were bland
-Desert looked good, but tasted strange.
The server was very nice, but can't make up for the poor food.
Our party of two had a truly memorable experience. The food both of us had was worthy of the best New Your City restaurants. The oyster appetizer was presented in a superb herb sauce and the bisque was delicious. The halibut was mouth watering and the bread pudding dessert was exceptional, especially the vanilla cream sauce. Service was friendly and competent.
My fiancé and I had the time of our lives. Specifically, we were catered to once we exited the elevator. We were addressed by name and the maitre'D escorted us to our seats. Little did we know that we'd have the entire restaurant to ourselves. I know this sounds once in a lifetime, but it is my hope you too get to experience something of the sort. The food was excellent and the pace of the meal was perfect, allowing us to converse throughout. We can only recommend the duck pierogies, halibut, filet mignon, and molten butterscotch cake but everything on the menu looked very enticing. We did not go wrong with our choice, and I'm not sure we could have. Altogether, we were very pleased with the experience, the food, the service and even the abstract art which adorned the walls. Keep up the great work, Muse!
We always end the Cleveland International Film event with a special breakfast. Our server Jack is a true asset to the Muse organization. We look forward to seeing him each year. Our breakfast was great and our service was outstanding. It is not the name that makes a place great but the employees that represent that name.
Each year when we attend the Cleveland International Film one for sure stop is Muse. The food is good and they have a good wine list. They also have a special menu for movie goers. If you only have a short time between movies you can get a great meal in a short period of time.
Muse typically has a prix fixe option, and when I dined there, the dishes all featured chocolate. The shining star of the trio was the chicken with chocolate sauce. Their prix fixe menu has changed since then, but the chef certainly knows what s/he is doing, so I feel it's a good gamble. Featured wine pairings for each course were perfection - overall, highly recommend.
The Ritz is undergoing an update, but don't let that dissuade you from checking out Muse.
We really enjoy this restaurant for its wonderful ambiance and high quality food. But, on our last two visits, the service has been rather terrible. We understand taking time to slowly enjoy a meal, and prefer such an approach, avoiding places that rush. But, 15 minutes for a glass of wine to make it to table, when there are only three other tables with guests is a bit much. And, forgetting things, such as sides, is not acceptable. Still, a fantastic place! The food and location are just great!!! still highly recommend the place.
We have been to Muse many times. We were surprised at the very healthy price increases. We feel now Muse will be strictly a special occasion restaurant. The food is always good and we were happy with the revised menu. The wait staff is very well trained, friendly and efficient.
Celebrating a wedding anniversary. Wanted great restaurant with easy access to casino. Was one other table seated when we arrived at 700. Over course of dinner, they left and two other tables were seated. Room was awkwardly quiet all night. Great food and service though!
We went to Muse simply because we were staying at the Ritz-Carlton, in which it is located. The food was excellent. I had a nice endive salad to start. My wife wanted to have something also, but was concerned that with a main dish and a side, it would be too much food. The waitress suggested having the side as an appetizer, so my wife had the mushroom ravioli to start. It was a great idea. For the main dish, a had a filet and my wife had the scallops. Both were excellent. But the topper was the Grand Marnier soufflé we had for dessert. Don't fail to order it if you go here! It's a little hard to rate the speed of the service because when we sat down, we were the only people in the place. In fact, if there was anything to be picky about, it is that when we got to the restaurant, there was no one there and I had to go yo the front desk of the hotel and have them call to get someone to come out. But other than that minor inconvenience, it was a great dining experience.
