Mt. Fuji Japanese Steakhouse

Mt. Fuji, a classic Japanese steakhouse in Westminster, crafts fine cuisine with both grilled meals and raw sushi options, served in its friendly and relaxing restaurant. The crispy creamy cheese wontons with crab and the spicy garlic edamame make exceptional appetizer options. Some of Mt. Fuji's specialty hot entrées include the seafood combination teriyaki with broiled lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and fish, the thin-sliced beef and vegetable sukiyaki with rice noodles and the crispy breaded chicken katsu fillet with tangy tonkatsu sauce, along with an array of mouth-watering hibachi grilled meals, prepared before your eyes.
Mt. Fuji's sushi rolls, nigiri pieces and sliced sashimi are also very popular with diners. Some of the most popular rolls include the Hanada with deep fried spicy tuna, yellowtail, salmon, scallions and special sauce and the green devil roll with seared pepper tuna, asparagus, spicy mayo and jalapenos.
We had a group of 15 family members to celebrate a birthday on 5/13/16. We had a great time! The Chef, the food, and the service were great! We would highly recommend it, thank you again!
I am not recommending it only because it's closing and moving, I actually like it.
It's really great place for prom dinner. They make the night really rememberable! Good for families with young kids too, the cooks are very friendly.
The food was overcooked, too much butter. The flavor was not great. The chef spilled water all over my father's plate and didn't cook him a new meal or offer to compensate anything. It was a very disappointing experience. The host stand was trashed and the hostess was dressed in a hoodie. There was no where to sit and it was crowded. We ordered drinks form the bar and my child was made to move because he was not of age to sit at the bar. We were occupying a very small area. Terrible all the ways around except for our server was ok.
Food and service were great, as usual. They consistently provide good quality service and food.
I have gone to this restaurant for years, even before it was Mt Fuji, It was great then. I have only gone 2x since the ownership changed and the first time was fine, This time, i was very unimpressed. The food wasn't that great, and they raised the prices (which were not posted accurately online). the Sushi, in my opinion was sub par, especially for the price.
If you have never experience Hibachi style Japanese, the concept is great and i suggest experiencing it at least once (But maybe at a different restaurant).
We were seated quickly, the employees did everything to please, and asked questions. They made everything look effortless. The food was hot, and made the way we liked it. The chef cooking had a great sense of humor and was very cordial. Overall, the dining experience was wonderful
My family and I are frequent visitors and because of scheduling we haven't really made weekday trips to the restaurant. I would definitely NOT recommend this as the restaurant service is not as effective or prompt compared to the weekend. The cook as well was less than enthusiastic despite my reservation stating it was my daughters 13th Birthday. Also during dinner service the owner was observed checking in on every table except ours. Kind of disrespectful in my opinion, but whatever.
Usually good but had a terrible experience. Took over an hour for chef to start. We almost left.
Greatly enjoy the food every time we go the kids love the entertainment of watching the food cook right in front of them
Was a bit like an Applebee's or Chilis for hibachi - not upscale.
This was the second time my wife and I had dinner here. The chef was better the first time however, the overall experience was better the second time. Good food, and fun atmosphere.
Our server was very friendly and fast. The chef, Julian, was funny and fun and engaging. The hibachi food was DELICIOUS!! The sushi was only meh, but who asks for sushi at a hibachi grill? That was my mistake, and didn't take away from the overall FABULOUS evening!
Food was delicious, Santos puts on a great show and he's an excellent chef.
We haved enjoyed eating at Mt Fugi for years, however our last three visits have been very unwhelming. The wait staff does not seem to care about the customers. The chefs are great and the food is good, but it is too expensive to pay for terrible service.
As always, Mt. Fuji turns out great sushi, rolls, sashimi, etc. Marked service as 3 of 5 only because, while our server was very efficient (seemed to have a sixth sense for the exact moment you had finished with a plate, bowl or utensil and swooped in to pick it up), not a lot of hospitality there. Now, there is an upside, of course...you know those times when you're ready to pay and leave, but can't get your server to come for your credit card? Not a problem! Bottom line: Mt. Fuji is terrific. Guarantee we'll be back.
We were not new to Mt. Fuji but were rather disappointed in food quality this time. My son who is a vegetarian ordered the tofu with vegetables but it was cooked on the grill and got meat drippings on it. He ate nothing but the salad. We took the food home but it ended up in the garbage. Note to the cook, a person is a vegetarian because they don't want meat nor any remnants of meat on their food. It was also our youngest son's birthday and he didn't even get his birthday dessert or a Happy Birthday. Not going back any time soon.
The food was OK, the cook was really fun, but the service was poor. We went for our friends birthday. Our waitress took a break during our dinner and another lady filled it. She brought the bill before we were even finished eating, and didn't ask if we wanted dessert, or sing happy birthday. We had to speak with the manager in order to get the issue corrected. By the time the manager and the waitress finally came over to sing a lame "happy birthday", the rest of the table had already left. Luckily they gave us a complimentary dessert. Don't order the chicken, it's rubbery and dry. Benihana is way better!
This place has some good food. All very flavorful and the "show" is good. Way better than benihana!
We made a reservation and it was pretty much ignored. We had to wait to get our table. Once we were at our table we had to wait for about 45 minutes from sitting down to our chef coming to the table. The food was good and the waitress brought drinks and appetizer timely. The wait was just to long.
Table wasn't ready had to wait 30 minutes - food was very good - gave plenty. Kids had fun -
I've frequented this restaurant several times over the past two years and really enjoy the variety and selection of food. The fried rice is probably the best I've ever had! Will definitely visit again. Dinner can be a little pricey but lunch is definitely worth the buck.
The food is always great! We always enjoy the show like experience when we go, but it feels like they may be getting away from that. Our servers are always polite and diligent. Definitely a place that we will continue going.
Even if you have a reservation you will most likely be treated like a walk in and experience a long wait. This has happened during both visits to Mt Fuji.
Slow to seat. After that service was nonexistent. We left after waiting 10 minutes at table.
Absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back. Thats for sure. I will be recommending family and friends to experience it. Great food, drinks and entertainment with excellent customer service. Didnt have to wait long to be seated.
We had the best time and food ever at Mt Fuji. Treated extremely well by the staff and the food tasted amazing. And the group we were sitting with was fun and even shared their birthday cake with us. This is one of our favorite places to go.
We have gone to Mt. Fuji a ton of times and the past 2 times we have made a reservation but have to wait 30-40 min after our reservation time. We come back cause we enjoy the food but this past time was the worst experience. The restaurant and waiter were clearly way to busy to handle everyone.
Mt. Fuji Hibatchi was full of energy and good food. I normally would be hesitant to order sushi from a hibatchi place but it was absolutely delicious. The service was also very quick. Will return with a larger group next time.
Celebrating a birthday with family and friends, table of 8. Good chef and performance while creating a nice lunch at the Hibachi table.
My only complaint was that we had wait 15/20 mins after our set reservation time. Hamachi style food say really good and plentiful but high in oil/butter in everything. Would visit again. Best for special occasions.
It can take up to 2 hours to get your food. They always make you wait even when there is a reservation.
Great service and excellent hibachi! Would definitely recommend!
We were only two but I can see how this is a great place for a group to sit around the grill.
It was a great choice for lunch on Christmas Day. There were 9 of us (one child) and we each got exactly what we wanted. Service was wonderful and it was really fun!
This place has always been one of our favorites. A bit on the pricey side to be sure; but you get a lot. It's always entertaining, and the chef's there do a great job. Our particular chef was very good. I have certain food concerns, and they accommodated those for me quite nicely. I always look forward to going there. Will definitely go back.
The host stand, waitress, chef were all so friendly, helpful and courteous.
I'd definitely return.
We love this place every time we go!! Service is great and the atmosphere is fun. It is one of our favorite places to go!!
Not a very good customer service experience. Our waiter forgot about us. We had to flag him down to get refills, and our rice with our food. We had to get up and personally go pay our bill. He left us sitting there. Not very nice at all. Almost like we were annoying him.
We had a great time for my husbands birthday. Great service. The food was the delicious.
The chef was very entertaining.
