The last 20 years have brought on many changes in the North End. The number of restaurants have gone from the single digits, back in the early days, to close to a hundred. Also, the old Central Artery that had divided the North End for so many years, has since disappeared.
Mother Anna’s has now become the gateway to the North End. On a beautiful summer night, a table on the now famous patio gives customers a view of the Boston skyline that can only be experienced at Mother Anna’s. Mother Anna’s should not be missed!

Mother Anna's is a North end staple. Their red-sauce is a must-try!
Door was open almost the entire time so there was a wind draft often.
It was some of the best italian food I've had.
It was fantastic!
Always incredible. Fresh seafood and amazingly rich red sauce.
Food and overall ambiance was incredible as always.. but we unfortunately found our server to be very in-personable.
Authentic and affordable North End restaurant. Always love it here.
Dinner was excellent-- food was fantastic and service very friendly--- highly recommend!
The food was amazing! Great portions for a great price. Service was poor. Waited awhile with empty drinks, and waited for awhile for our check. The bussers however was very prompt with cleaning our table.
The food was just OK. I have eaten at lots of restaurants in the North End, and this place was not my favorite. The services was good and the location was great.
What a great experience. From the beginning the restaurant staff went out their way. The food was outstanding as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant
We were a party of 6 (2 adults, 4 teens) New Years night. We arrived 15 minutes early but were promptly greeted and our table was ready. We were greeted by friendly hostess we were quickly provided water, bread and drinks. Menu was in English so we didn’t have to figure out Italian. Sorry but sometimes you just want read what you are eating. Food came fast, hot and was really delicious. We have both picky and non picky eaters and the menu served all of us really well: simple to the gourmet. Staff joked with us and added to our table fun. The only “con” would be the downstairs bathroom; it needs an upgrade. I would definitely go back though. They have an outdoor patio for warmer weather and I will look forward to sitting outside
My family loves Mother Anna’s. When we plan to go in to Boston, we almost always plan to eat there. They are dependably delicious. I have a hard time trying new things on the menu because I love the chicken and eggplant parmigiana so much, but my family has tried different things and they have been pleased with all of them.
Right on the edge of the true North End, probably gets a walk-in crowd, but families too. A welcome respite from pricier N. End places & portions were generous. But the food was just ok — over salted and lacking inspiration.
Our waitress was third generation at mother Anna’s and very nice. Food was delicious traditional Italian.
Outstanding service. Seated promptly, everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Friendly owners, great wait staff. Thanks!
Food was great as always! Service was excellent too.
Chose this one based on a recommendation of a North End local. She said they have THE best red sauce and she was right about that! I’m a very picky red sauce eater and this was one of the best I’ve tasted. The main courses were delicious, baked manicotti and a pink cream sauce seafood special. The antipasto left something to be desired but they’re homemade house dressing was really good. The place is clean and the service was good. Will definitely be back!
I have been eating in the North End for decades and this was my first time at Mother Anna's but it definitely won't be my last. The food was amazing, the service was great. The bartender was spot on! Highly recommend checking this place out. Start with the calamari, it was out of this world good!
Good food. Great service.
To keep it short on why you shouldn’t go here, the pasta was overcooked and yet cold as if it had been made days earlier and then heated up in a microwave. Pasta isn’t that hard to get right but this place leads me to believe it’s a challenge for some restaurants.
Table was waiting for us. Prices were good. Portions were large and food was tasty.
The food was good, but they had weird rules and fees. $10 added to splitting meals and each person had to have a minimum of $14. None of this was specified on their website prior to booking the reservation.
Great food, nice team, great service. One piece of advice for waitress, need to space out time. Retrenchment soup , salad and dinner entree, I had my salad for a few minutes, and soup and entree was brought out tooo quickly, wasngg Th even partially finished.
Delicious food, excellent service!
Awesome anniversary dinner !
No occasion. A longtime staple of the North End. Whenever visiting North End, Mother Anna is always a consideration. Great value and usually easier to get reservations than most. Never had a bad experience there.
This was the best little Italian place that we have tried. The baked ziti was incredible and so was the gnocchi. We will definitely be back and bring more people next time. Incredible food at a great price too.
Mother Anna’s hosted my party of 20 people. The food was outstanding and the service was terrific. They were willing to handle multiple checks and the food preparation was exceptionally fast.
Accommodating our large group was no problem for the staff of Mother Anna’s. The food was great; the location, charming. Definitely would go there again.
I absolutely love this place. The best Italian restaurant in the North End! The red sauce is amazing.
Great service price value location, and our waitress was excellent always checking on us
Food was very good, there was 4 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals. Eggplant and veal parm was delicious!!
I was in Boston to visit my daughter, took her and her friends out for dinner here. I got the gnocchi Valaria, it was excellent. Large portions and a very friendly atmosphere. I would definitely go back there again.
Overall good experience!
Wasn’t too busy midday on a Saturday. Staff was ok. Food took quite a while to arrive with appetizers & main course delivered at the same time. Food was well prepared BUT everything was way over salted. Probably won’t go back.
Went for lunch, ordered Veal and Eggplant parmigiana (very good, served with marinara, plenty of food, maybe a bit salty, served with side of linguine with marinara, also very good, but also a touch salty) and the chicken exquisito (excellent, exquisite like it's name, a chicken breast, lightly egg dipped with a marsala and brandy sauce, topped with mozzarella, really delicious, also served with linguine and red sauce, again pasta a bit salty). Despite slight saltiness of pasta, a really outstanding meal, and great value for lunch.
First time in Boston- we heard this was a MUST go to spot for dinner. The food and service were top notch. The gnocchi was the best. Also get an order of meatballs for an appetizer.
Food came out very quickly and timely. The only thing that wasn't outstanding was the balsamic salad dressing. Veal marsala, shrimp marsala and lobster ravioli was divine
