Awesome place! Food was amazing!
Love Montalke cut. All delicious. Debbie took wonderful care of us
If we had not had Debbie as our server, I would have given this place a 1 star. Let’s start by having to have to wait for over an hour for our 8:15 dinner reservations. That’s abhorrent. There were available seating, they just chose not to seat us. They kept saying they were putting us at a larger table but we still sat at a 4 top. Come on folks. I mean the hostesses were very nice but they had us wait for that table to clear. Ridiculous. The fish of the day was the halibut. I love halibut but this was overly salted and over cooked, not to mention a small piece. For the prices you pay I expect my table within a .15 to 20 min window, as that what the restaurant would have waited for me if I was late. No compensation for having to wait for this table and really mediocre food. I know it’s a popular spot amd we took some Dallassites there for their first time. Likely their last. Debbie did pull it out on service and we rewarded her so. I won’t go back unless involved to have a better experience. This one sucked.
Hostesses were not very friendly
Montlake Cut is one of my favorites, always good service and good food!
Decor is fun love the boathouse theme. Food is delicious. Oysters are amazing. Our server was friendly and attentive.
The food and service were absolutely incredible! Honestly one of the best meals I have ever had!
Too loud snd average food!
I have never felt so rushed out of a restaurant. Our waitress, who told us she has been working in the industry for 23 years, could not have been more quick to get us in and out. While I realize the service industry has really taken a hit over the course of this past year, we too, as patrons, were eager to get back in one of our favorite restaurants and support an establishment we love. I left feeling so discouraged. While the food was exceptional, I was really disheartened by the way we were rushed and treated.
Portions small for the price. Almost unbearable table with loud loud talker at my elbow. Should have been given another seat or we should have sat at bar. Not a do over for us.
Love sitting at the bar! Andrew and Sara are so great!
My entire family enjoyed their meal. I would definitely go back again and bring friends with me.
The whole fish was AWESOME and the grilled asparagus and the green beans ohhhh so yummy!
We love Montlake Cut; it’s one of our favorite restaurants.
Loved everything about our dining experience at Montclair Cut except the fact that the entrees do not come with a vegetable or starch. It can’t add that much more to the ‘per plate’ cost of the meal. Many restaurants do this successfully and their prices are at a lower price point. Take for instance the whole fish (trout) I had on this evening which was $37. Toulouse does a whole trout almandine served with red potatoes and French green beans for $27. I’m not talking about a large portion of starch or veggie, just little something to go along with the protein.
Everything was so good! Love the quaint atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and sit at the bar!
Great neighborhood spot with really good food and ambiance.
We love this place. Went there for our anniversary dinner and Anna (our server) was awesome!
Montlake Cut is a good experience restaurant. Great service, food, and atmosphere. Drinks are a little bit high priced but the house is packed.
Great food great service. Attentive waiters. Love the goldfish on the table and the Swedish fish at the end. Cannot wait to go back. We had the Milanese and the swordfish and it was amazing. Also don't forget to try the crab fried rice. Yummy!
Truly enjoyed our experience at MontLake Cut with 1 minor exception. Was uneasy when I saw the server bring our water glasses to the table while grasping the glasses around the lip of the glasses. Always makes me uneasy, even long before the pandemic.
The food was slightly above average. The charbroiled oysters were probably the best thing. Tried a couple different drinks and didn’t finish them... thought it was hard to mess up an old fashioned or a margarita. All of that said it wasn’t horrible but then the check came and I would not have paid half of what it cost for what we got we got. Will probably not return
Best seafood quality and price I have experienced in Dallas FTW.
Always a good crowd, make reservations.
I am a returning customer many times over.
Pros: Great food! Delicious wine. Great service!
Cons: too brightly lit, too cold (room temperature) and too loud!
Will definitely come back and try it again though!
The food was amazing! Go for the food for sure! Everything we ordered from appetizers to dessert was superstar...
Two drawbacks - the noise level and the timing. We went for an special occasion and truly felt rushed. Seemed like they only allow one hour per reservation. We had apps, entree and dessert so hard to fit into an hour. The noise was not moderate, it was loud.
If you want really fantastic food, check it out. Make sure you don’t go at prime time unless you only want entree.
Just FYI - There is also no spacing or separation. They are at 100% really tight capacity.
Food was great but it was crowded and we felt that we were rushed throughout, even though we had a reservation, with specials being quoted and pressure to order before we even got our cocktails.
Service was quite poor, ranging from being completely ignored at the bar to a completely tuned out waiter. Food was good, but it’s pretty shocking to order a $13 asparagus side and see a slim preparation of a dozen asparagus.
We were expecting to have the same experience we did pre-COVID and similar to a terrific one at Neighborhood Services last week. The controllable aspects for the restaurant were the most disappointing. Overall service was good, our server had the outside tables plus several inside and was very busy. The hostess turned a four place table next to us into a six place by moving them very close to us, and the party was very loud.
Many menu items from before are no longer available and the pricing for what you get is very high when compared to nearby white tablecloth competition. I get everything being a la carte, but a piece of fish (excellent preparation) some greens and a tiny dish of tartar sauce or remoulade for the price is sad. The wedge I ordered never arrived and when the food came out the server was horrified the salad didn’t come out, and asked if I still wanted it, which is an automatic no, since my entree would have been cold or the slaps warm after finishing the entree.
I know restaurants need to make up a lot of lost ground imposed by the ridiculous restrictions we’ve had the past year, but this one stands out as a low point for us. It’s too bad as we love Flavorhook restaurants, it’s walking distance and we eat out a lot to help these businesses.
Debbie was our waitress and was phenomenal! Excellent service!
Nice mid week dinner with friends, outstanding overall experience.
Very much a "go to" place for nice light dinner (or lunch). Everyone was very pleasant and the food was all terrific. Smaller place for sitting which probably makes everything were so well.
Love the menu, service and how lively the restaurant is.
Terrific food and great service. A bit crowded for COVID concerns; we had difficulty leaving due to the crowd at the bar and people waiting to be seated. Management was addressing it as we left. Some outside tables on the sidewalk. We will be back!
Excellent food and service. Happening atmosphere.
Food and service were excellent.
A familiar favorite. Reliably good seafood in a comfortable atmosphere. Debbie is a top-flight server.
Always a great fun place. It’s a small neighborhood restaurant with a great bar and knowledgeable staff. They have THE BEST smoked salmon I’ve ever had. Hands down - the best! The fish dishes are excellent and their cheese burger is Amazing! Save room for the warm rum cake! Yum!
Great as always, a must try!
Everything was wonderful EXCEPT dinner was rushed, plates were cleared even as we eating. We were all shocked at how quick management wanted us out so they could seat others. Perhaps if they would let dinners know they have a certain window in which to dine, we would have been prepared. From the start to the end, a wonderful food experience that was RUSHED.
