Montano's - Roanoke
In 1988, the permanent location for Montano’s opened at Townside Festival Mall with 150 seats and a small but well stocked gourmet shop, complete with delicatessen, wine selection and imported beer area.
The restaurant now seats 252 and includes a private banquet room, an outdoor cafe and a 40 foot carved wood and mirrored cocktail bar. Phil Montano still regularly works in the business, which is now run by his son, Marty Montano.
Loved our private lunch!!! Keeping social distance is a priority for Marty & his excellent staff! Much appreciated from this older guest!
Service was outstanding.
We have always enjoyed Montanos and have had nothing but positive experiences there. However, it seems their focus has slipped in the midst of the pandemic. Our meal was mediocre at best. The service was not what we have experienced in the past. I ordered a beer off of the list at the bar and was told that they didn't have it and that the list had not been changed in months. We agreed we would come back but it would be some time before we were willing to try it again.
The food and service were excellent. The experience was a great value. I look forward to visiting again.
Great birthday dinner for my wife and another couple.
Excellent service and great food
Service was very good. Food was just OK. First time there so I would go back but order differently.
My daughter’s birthday. She is a vegan so the options at Montano’s are excellent. They have the best avocado dressing that I have ever had anywhere in the world!
Great night with Friends. Service was great Food was good!!
If you like expensive, small plates of italian food. This would be a good place for you! Our waitress was kinda weird and we tried to act like nothing was happening but she kept touching our shoulders and even sat next to one of us. We tried to enjoy the evening and the lighting and size of the place was really good. Overall, I don't believe i'll be back, but other may enjoy it more than i did! The food was pretty expensive and even ordering some of the cheaper stuff on the menu our bill was $$$.
First time there the food was excellent. Received our order fast.
Food was not hot but tasty. Service was very good. Noise level was fine. We asked to be moved out of the bar and were accommodated. One if my favorite places to eat for casual lunch or dinner with friends
Very good food and great service (as usual). The filet was tasty and the side dishes were prepared perfectly.
Everything was wonderful as usual! Our server did seem a little stressed but she appeared to have our entire section on her own. She juggled everything quite nicely and was still very attentive and friendly under the circumstances. ♥️
The service, food, and environment were fantastic
The food is delicious. Everything was fresh and nicely presented. Live band made the evening fun.
Food was not warm enough.
Sister time together prior to attending play at Berglund Center.
We were seated right next to the band. Needless to say not an enjoyable experience.
We have eaten here multiple times and will again. this was a one off visit as the food was not as flavorful as normal.
Food is great and service is great. Thank you for all you do!
Always great food and service!! My favorite go to restaurant!
Our son and daughter in law was home for Christmas. We took them to Montano's because we always enjoy the food. Again, Montano's did not disappoint. Our guests enjoyed it as well and they are picky. Thanks again for a good meal.
This is a nice find for a smaller metropolitan area. Good food and a broad menu. There's something for everyone there.
It’s loud when they have music even though we were seated in the back. I ordered an angus sirloin that was dry and over cooked. My date had a fish dish that she had had on a previous visit and liked but did not this time. I ordered a drink, Pops Cubano, and I think that the bartender made it with vodka instead of rum.
All in all it was a wasted $100. I don’t think that we’ll be back.
I brought my team out for a holiday luncheon - they all had a GREAT time here! The service was prompt and attentive without being disruptive. The food was excellent, came out quickly, and was appealing to look at.
Delicious food and great service in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
I made reservations on line. When we arrived they said they didn't have the reservation. I had the confirmation on my phone. The lady tried to seat 6 at a small table.
Our waitress was late for work. She got several orders mixed up and didn't listen when we wanted dessert and she handed us our checks.
We expected more from Montano.
Fantastic food! Great experience from start to finish!
Juanita was our server. She made sure all of us had what we needed & set up a table just to accommodate our group. Food was delicious.
Along with amazing “adult” food, I think they have the best kids meal portions around!
Loved it. Thank you
One of the best places in the Roanoke area!! The sandwiches are a great value and are huge! I had the Po'Boy and it was delicious (and lasted me 2 meals). Next time I order it, I will ask for an additional cup of remoulade sauce since one cup only lasted me for half the sandwich. I also had the fries and one of the house salads with the homemade avocado vinaigrette dressing. Highly recommend the avocado dressing but ask for two cups if you like having a lot of dressing on your salad. My family and I will be coming back many more times during 2020 and would recommend this place to anyone!
Montano's will always be a favorite with our family. Not only our out of town guests love this place, but the local family goes there as often as possible.
We got one of the specials, and it was excellent (surf ad turf). Everything was fine.
Amazing delicious food; friendly, efficient, top notch service!
My husband and I went to Montano's for the first time for my birthday celebration. First I want to say that the service in this restaurant is OUTSTANDING. Larry was very attentive, fun, knowledgeable, and accommodating, with lots of little extra touches. He made our evening very special. My husband had the New York Strip which was tasty but just a bit overcooked for medium rare. They offered to replace it, but my husband did not want to waste a great piece of meat, so instead they gave us both free dessert. I had the seafood linguine which was wonderful. The wings were also excellent with their homemade sauce...yummy. And dessert was great. Really wonderful place to eat. Highly recommend it!
Other than it being quite noisy as we were seated in the bar area, we had a great experience as usual. The fact that Marty takes the time to walk around and greet guests and talk to them at their tables is quite amazing in this day and age. Even though it was really busy, our waitress was very attentive and the food was delicious. We’re already looking forward to our next visit and are happy to make the hour plus drive to go there.
I had let the reservation site now this was for my anniversary. They sat us directly beside the band and it was loud and obtrusive we were unable to speak to each other, no less enjoy our meal while some guy was trying to pawn off his $10 cd. My spouse and I were dressed very nice and a couple with a child that were in jeans and swears were sat in the nice dining area. We have come here for every one of our special occasions together, be we will never be back after this experience.
