Perfect for a good French lunch. Gluten free bread available.
We have been to Mon Plaisir several times and always appreciate the warm welcome and the excellent service.
We had the set menu - food is well-priced but in our view 9 pounds for a glass of 'OK' house wine is quite excessive.
There was a very noisy table near us but I guess that is not the restaurant's fault.
This time the saumon was a little dry and not up to Mon Plaisir's usual standard.
But we will be back!
Dear IanB, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Please to read you enjoy our ongoing hospitality. I am sorry you don't like our Mon Plaisir House wine, sauvignon blanc and cabernet franc, which have been selected with great care, are extremely popular and well liked. Also please note for clarification that you choose a 1/4 carafe (250ml)and not the usual 175ml glass! We all look forward to welcoming you again soon. Best wishes.
Lovely lunch and friendly, attentive service - a great go-to restaurant when in the West End.
Mon Plaisir is a hidden gem, one of the best restaurants in London. I have been there several times and always left extremely satisfied.
Dear OswaldoG, Thank you for your loyalty over the years and also for sharing your experience with us. It is always a pleasure welcoming you and we all look forward to your next visit. Merci et a bientot.
Mon Plaisir has been serving classic French cuisine for over 50 years. They do it excellently. The Bearnaise sauce was perfect. The whole experience is marvellously French.
Dear MickaelS, Merci Monsieur for your loyalty over the years. Team Mon Plaisir will keep on welcoming you again and look forward to your next visit. Merci encore et a bientot!
A really enjoyable experience. A warm welcome. Friendly and professional staff and a first class pre theatre meal.
Dear 57me, thank you for taking time to share your experience with us which is very much enjoyed by Team Mon Plaisir. MErci et a bientot.
Straight forward French Brasserie. Food was OK only. Fairly good value for money.
Great food, service was amazing - our waitress was really helpful and attentive and great at cheese recommendations! Felt like we had stepped out of London into France.
Dear DanB, Merci for your lovely comments. Our pleasure is yours! Merci et a bientot!
Excellent food and friendly service. True “French”ambiance. A very pleasant experience.
Dear ThierryB, Merci beaucoup pour vos supers commentaires! A bientot.
Not the first time we have eaten here and it won’t be the last
Lunch menu was lovely , staff very friendly cheese board to die for !!!!!
One little grip we were sat right in door way lots of noise , cold draft and everyone walking past better tables left empty
A great restaurant. Authentc French classic dishes. A perfect, unchanging menu. Wonderfully executed cooking and presentation. The ecallope de veau was outstanding.
Delicious food, lots of choice, well cooked and fresh. Lively atmosphere, but not too noisy. Friendly and attentive service.
This is the real deal - a French restaurant in the old style, with charming and efficient service and great, traditional French cooking.
The food was excellent except the starter, onion soup lacked/no seasoning which rendered the soup tasteless
Service efficient. Food bland, lacking seasoning
I have eaten here a number of times over many years. It is consistently good. The food is lovely, the ambience is typically French with excellent service. Its perfect for a meal before the theatre, a leisurely lunch or a romantic evening meal. It does not disappoint. If you go once you will be back.
Really cosy French restaurant that reminded me of my recent holiday travelling around France. The food (pre theatre set menu) reminded me of the 'plat du jour' format. Service was excellent and with a smile. Will definitely return.
Dear Redvox, merci et a tres bientot pour votre prochaine visite!
I have had many meals at Mon Plaisir and before this week's the restaurant had never disappointed. But Tuesday's lunch was poor. On the table d'hote menu there was little choice as mushrooms appeared in both a starter (mushroom soup) and accompanying one of the mains. Having had the mushroom soup (excellent) I felt I had to opt for the fish. This was a filet of sea bream - and very poorly boned. My companion too had the fish which also had a myriad of bones. A mouthful of bone really does take away any pleasure and a second mouthful …. enough said.
Dear Bunnie, I am sorry to read about your disappointment about our menu, not a Table d'hote menu but a daily changing Lunch menu, menu du jour. Our chefs established a menu based on special offer from our suppliers in the morning. Our vegetable supplier had a fantastic offer on Mushroom! Choices from our seasonal menu and our A la carte are usually appreciated as varied. Had you mentioned your bony fish to the Manager in charge, she would have happily offered an alternative. best wishes.
Good varied menu choices as were the wine options. Service was quick, polite, and friendly. |Not our first visit and unlikely to be the last.
Dear Tinj, thank you for taking the time to share your lovely experience with us. We all look forward to welcoming you again very soon. Merci et a bientot!
Overall a good meal but disappointing. However, this visit the service was not particularly friendly. Four of us had the fixed price set menu, however, when we asked to see the desserts we were only given the main menu. The waitress gave us a sour look when we asked for the set menu. An apology would have been appreciated. Also, one guest was given a dessert he hadn’t asked for.
Currently not sure that I would recommend this restaurant.
We came to Mon Plaisir for a pre-theatre supper on the recommendation of a friend and were charmed and delighted by the ambience, a very reasonable and delicious pre-theatre menu and excellent house wine. All in all, a great hit. Thought the staff especially considerate and charming.
Dear JeremyM, Your pleasure is ours! Merci for your lovely comments which are very much appreciated by all. Merci et a bientot!
Lovely setting and warm environment.
Our visit was most enjoyable.
I have been coming to the restaurant since 1994.
Always good, excellent cuisine, very attentive service and great ambience
Dear BillP, it is always our pleasure to welcome you. Thank you for your loyalty over the years and we all look forward to your next visit. Merci et a Bientot!
Food was tepid when served and it was tasteless. My wife had rabbit and I had veal but it had no taste at all and we weren't sure if is wasn't chicken. We noticed that the table next to us had ordered guinea fowl and duck and they complained because it had no taste.
The food is well presented and delicious. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The big let down is Opentable. I had a cheque and studiously picked a number of places that were not on their opted out menu, Mon Plaisir being one. I had written that I would be using the cheque on the booking but on the morning the manager phoned and said they do not accept them. I phoned a few alternative places that supposedly accepted Opentable cheques to discover it is impossible to find one. Mon Plaisir gave us a free drink to make up for the confusion. OPentable just made excuses and said happy dining! I will no longer be using Opentable to make bookings and beware if you have been offered a reward cheque because you are unlikely to be able to use it!
I remember Mon Plaisir from many years ago when I worked in London and thought it would be a good venue for a meal before a matinee at a near by theatre. We took along 2 London based friends who speak fluent french and had never been to your restaurant! Along with us, they were very impressed. Food and ambiance very french and the prix fixe was spot on. We shall return. Mary
Poor table. My wifes meal was cold and her very small mackeral pieces were very boney. The waitress knocked my wifes glass of wine over and didn't offer to replace. We didn't realise that there were 2 dining rooms and we were seated in the rubbish one
The food and wine choices were very good, although my friend's foie gras was served too cold, but otherwise, a very good experience
Once again, Mon Plaisir was superb. Starters of beef tartare and duck terrine superb, mains of the pork shank and the rabbit were outstanding followed by a cheese board to die for. Excellent , friendly service. As good as it gets.
How nice it was to return to an old favourite to find it had changed very little. The menu is inviting and the food very good indeed as was the service. Furthermore the lunchtime fixed price menu is good value.
Our only disappointment was the House Sauvignon white wine which was almost tasteless.
Mon Plaisir is one of my favourite restaurants- however our food was not up to standard as previous occasions. My wife had scallops on potato base. It arrived cold. My mushroom starter was delicious and hot.
The mains arrived and unfortunately my prawn and scallops dish arrived cold..
The manager got the dish cooked again and of course it was delicious .
I respect the desire to make amends and it will not stop us returning again.
However because we had to rush away to the opera it dampened things down a bit.
Tighter quality control could be the answer.
Lovely warm atmosphere and authentic cuisine. Couldn't fault it
Enjoyed the pre-theatre meal with a group of friends. Food was lovely and the staff were so accommodating when options had run out. Would love to return when we arent rushing off to a show!
Always a pleasure to eat here prior to the theatre good food at good price in good surroundings
Great to be given a round table as there were 6 of us and in the window so had a good view of what was going on outside.
Staff were friendly and attentive, food was good and although we all had A la Carte menu very reasonably priced. Even the lunch menu of 2 or 3 courses was good value.
This was my first visit to Mon Plaisir and I loved it, so much so that I am returning next week with my wife. The food was excellent, the service friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely. I imagine I will become a regular visitor now. Many thanks to all the staff for helping to make it such an enjoyable experience.
A great authentic french restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden ( less than 5 mins from Donmar) the pre-theatre menu was good value. Service was friendly & efficient to get us out in time for theatre.
It was like the parsons egg....good in parts. The people in our party who had duck enjoyed it. The two of us who chose fish were surprised at the paltry portions and the mussels looked disgusting. The waiter missed heard a customer who asked for cappuccino...he heard ‘cuppa tea’ so, reasonably enough, that’s what he brought.
It was a shame as we had been looking forward to it....oldest french restaurant in London, ambience and so on, but in my opinion the food didn’t live up to the restaurant’s self publicity.
Mon Plaisir is an authentic, unpretentious French restaurant in the heart of London. The service is very good and overall there is a good choice of food on the menu. The two of us were there for lunch and had the 3-course seasonal set menu starting with a delicious onion soup, followed by confit de canard and breast of guineau fowl - both also very well cooked - and finishing with a luxurious vacherin dessert. We chose house wines (one rose, one red) which came in small pichets. Perfectly acceptable if a bit pricey. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the array of retro French posters on the walls. I'm sure we will back before too long.
My husband & I enjoyed our ‘dining’ at Mon Plasir! Nathan, our exemplary server made our visit especially nice. While I enjoyed everything - Their wild mushroom with parmesan dish was amazing.
