This is a delightful restaurant with a great atmosphere and history
Excellent traditional-style French cuisine. Nice wine.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Mon Plaisir. The food was very good and the service was impeccable.
Good food and drink. But evening spoiled by poor service, inattentive staff and a mistake with the bill. It has been much better on previous visits which emphasises how important waiting staff are to the experience.
The food and service were excellent as usual, and the wine (house chablis and Madiran good value
In London with my wife for an appointment, we alway try to eat at Mon Plaisir as it such a unique place: very French in the heart of London.
We are never disappointed with the food, wine, service or atmosphere. It was a quiet Monday evening, however it such a charming place I think it’s nicer when nit too busy.
Unfortunately we were placed right beside 2 large parties who were very loud. Couldn't wait to get out of the restaurant.
Mussels were very gritty, scallops and prawns for main was OK but wasn't very much on your plate. I can make an apple tart tartin better. My other half's tart du jour which was a pear tart was OK.
Very disappointing as some of the reviews were quite good.
Lovely decor andxambience; very courteous and professional staff and very appetising food. A perfect meeting place for a pre-theatre supper and excellent value.
have been to mon plasir before over the years. Now prefer the pre theatre menu as it is very good value for money and changes frequently. I love the ambience, the good food and the service. I hope it lasts forever. I have been visiting it (but not that frequently) since I was about 24 and I am now 66!!
Good place and relaxing atmosphere.
nice dinner and services
The food is always good here but this time it was very salty - not worthy of a big complaint, just unusual. The service was almost too prompt but we were in no hurry and I can imagine if you were short of time, this would be a good thing. Lovely experience as always, we will definitely be back.
Lovely traditional French bistro, hardly changed over the years which is lovely.
This is an authentic French restaurant. The food was average and overpriced.
A cute and cosy space (as long as one doesn’t sit by the stairs going to the loos - stench!).
The food is very unimpressive: Cote has better duck confit at half the price! Tarte tatin seemed to have been microwaved as did gratin dauphinois.
Service is haphazard and rather clueless; one is much better off speaking French to be understood.
Overall, as much as as we would want to, we can’t recommend Mon Plaisir
I’ve been going for years. It never disappoints. Thoroughly enjoyable.
we had a great time, good food, good wine selection
Decline in standards. Not welcoming. Intrusive music in empty restaurant.
We asked for the quiet table by the window but unfortunately someone else had already booked this. We were left as a very long table of 6 people in the middle of the restaurant and it was very difficult to hear the people speaking at the ends of the table. Food was reasonable. Onion soup excellent as usual as was the vacherin meringue dessert but the moules were indifferent and only just warm. Felt for the price it could be better. This is not the right ambience for a reunion when you want to listen to people talk. Fine for 2 or 4 people but not for 6.
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance.
Had to move tables due to smelly toilets but not sure if that’s part of the atmosphere.
Can genuinely recommend the food and attentive service.
Fantastic find, will definitely be returned when in London
As ever great food, fine wine and good service. A restaurant to return to with confidence and high expectations.
Don’t know why we haven’t been before. Will definitely return
Excellent. Food, service, atmosphere. Highly recommend
An excellent pre-matinee lunch with good ambiance and only a short walk from the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Cute little place in a great neighbourhood! Very good food and fairly good wine selection.
Perfect for a good French lunch. Gluten free bread available.
We visited recently for a pre-theatre meal. Two of us had the two course fixed price menu, and one had the Moules from the a la carte menu. The fixed price menu food represented good value, but could have been better seasoned and was a little uninspired. A similar experience about 10 years ago was much better and well enough remembered to cause us to re-book this time. The Moules, by contrast, were superb. The staff were charming and very attentive.
We have been to Mon Plaisir several times and always appreciate the warm welcome and the excellent service.
We had the set menu - food is well-priced but in our view 9 pounds for a glass of 'OK' house wine is quite excessive.
There was a very noisy table near us but I guess that is not the restaurant's fault.
This time the saumon was a little dry and not up to Mon Plaisir's usual standard.
But we will be back!
Dear IanB, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Please to read you enjoy our ongoing hospitality. I am sorry you don't like our Mon Plaisir House wine, sauvignon blanc and cabernet franc, which have been selected with great care, are extremely popular and well liked. Also please note for clarification that you choose a 1/4 carafe (250ml)and not the usual 175ml glass! We all look forward to welcoming you again soon. Best wishes.
Lovely lunch and friendly, attentive service - a great go-to restaurant when in the West End.
Mon Plaisir is a hidden gem, one of the best restaurants in London. I have been there several times and always left extremely satisfied.
Dear OswaldoG, Thank you for your loyalty over the years and also for sharing your experience with us. It is always a pleasure welcoming you and we all look forward to your next visit. Merci et a bientot.
Mon Plaisir has been serving classic French cuisine for over 50 years. They do it excellently. The Bearnaise sauce was perfect. The whole experience is marvellously French.
Dear MickaelS, Merci Monsieur for your loyalty over the years. Team Mon Plaisir will keep on welcoming you again and look forward to your next visit. Merci encore et a bientot!
A really enjoyable experience. A warm welcome. Friendly and professional staff and a first class pre theatre meal.
Dear 57me, thank you for taking time to share your experience with us which is very much enjoyed by Team Mon Plaisir. MErci et a bientot.
Straight forward French Brasserie. Food was OK only. Fairly good value for money.
Great food, service was amazing - our waitress was really helpful and attentive and great at cheese recommendations! Felt like we had stepped out of London into France.
Dear DanB, Merci for your lovely comments. Our pleasure is yours! Merci et a bientot!
Excellent food and friendly service. True “French”ambiance. A very pleasant experience.
Dear ThierryB, Merci beaucoup pour vos supers commentaires! A bientot.
Not the first time we have eaten here and it won’t be the last
Lunch menu was lovely , staff very friendly cheese board to die for !!!!!
One little grip we were sat right in door way lots of noise , cold draft and everyone walking past better tables left empty
A great restaurant. Authentc French classic dishes. A perfect, unchanging menu. Wonderfully executed cooking and presentation. The ecallope de veau was outstanding.
Delicious food, lots of choice, well cooked and fresh. Lively atmosphere, but not too noisy. Friendly and attentive service.
Having been taken to Mon Plaisir many times as a child by my parents up to 40 years ago (my father having been a regular customer from Mon Plaisir's early days, going back at least to the 1950s), it was wonderful to go back and find that it's retained the Parisian character and charm, and is pretty much as I remember it (albeit with some additional seating areas). We only had time for the pre-theatre menu, so did not get to have the steak-frites I always used to have, which always used to be on the pre-theatre menu but now only appears on the A La Carte (I'll therefore have to get back again soon, not least for those addictive Pommes Allumettes!), but what we had was perfect in the time available.
Mon Plaisir is rated 4.4 stars by 3117 OpenTable diners.
