Our server, Anya, was delightful. The food, however, fell short. The lobster macaroni was tasteless and insides of ravioli was dry. Very disappointed considering the price.

My colleagues and I had a special business lunch at Modesto. Each one of us was very happy with our choices. We ordered a white pizza, a seafood risotto and a veggie lasagna. Outstanding taste and excellent presentation. The server was super nice young lady with a pleasant accent. Amazing knowledge of every dish and it’s origins. Great table manners. Highly recommend!

The pasta Bolognese was excellent. They only issue was the small portion of pasta, which is the entire dish. In comparison to a similar pasta plate with chicken, which is actually cheaper, the Bolognese seemed like a half portion.

Where to begin?! Our entire experience was amazing and if not for the fact that we live 5hrs away, we would dine here on a regular basis. Eli, our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wines. His recommendations were on the mark! My husband ordered the Veal Parmigiana and it was tender and delicious! I got the Parmesan Herb Striped Bass, and I can’t recommend it enough. It was a flavor sensation along with the risotto and roasted vegetables. We’re so happy that we got to enjoy such a fantastic meal at this restaurant. Please go if you are in town. It will NOT disappoint!!

Wonderful, extensive menu with wine pairings for many of the options. We are local, however this was our first time eating at Modesto. A friend of ours works here and luckily was our waiter for the evening. Very knowledgeable gentleman named Eli was our waiter. He gave us detailed descriptions of the dishes we had questions about, as well as some of his own thoughts about the menu. Each item my partner and I shared gave us delight. Keep up the great work, be back soon👍

Amazing!!! We ordered the heirloom tomato salad and the octopus for appetizers. For dinner, the black tip shark and mushroom pasta. Tiramisu for dessert. All fabulous!!!!

Absolutely a terrible experience. We both got basic dishes and they were awful. My husband got Veal Marsala. The sauce was unlike any other Marsala we had tasted. The veal was fatty and inedible. I got Veal Parm. It was edible but barely. The waiter never asked how our food was and only showed up to give us our bill. Another waitress came midway and asked if we needed anything. For $150 we were extremely disappointed.

Way too expensive for what it is - NYC prices in small little town - lacked flavor, service was slow, tables wobbly. Fruit flies had to be swatted at throughout the dinner. Have experienced same issues at sister restaurants

This is my first time writing any bad review. I made this reservation the week before I traveled to Asheville, I’m from New Jersey so I know it’s important to make a reservation. I got a phone call from Modesto at 3pm (my rsvp was for 5pm.) telling me that the Chef decided to close the restaurant to celebrate Halloween. In my 58 years of life Halloween has always been on the 31st of October. Very unprofessional in my opinion. We did eat at a very professional and delicious restaurant around the corner on Wall St. I would highly recommend going to Cucina 24 instead.

Food was wonderful! Server was good, when he was present. We chose to sit outside, as did many others, so I’m not sure how that affected the timing. Some dishes were very pricey; others were more affordable. We’ll definitely go back.

I rarely write reviews, but last night was an exceptional dining experience at Modesto! Our waiter, Kevin, was very attentive. I am very not familiar with Italian wines, Kevin recommended a Barolo that was absolutely delicious. The food is hands down some of the best I’ve eaten in quite some time. I had the veal, which was tender and the lemon risotto a perfect complement. My wife had chicken parmigiana, again superb. Did I mention the portions are huge, “like your Italian Nona wanting to feed you Sunday dinner”. Don’t go here, run here, you will want to come back again and again.

Normally, I love this location, when visiting Asheville; but after driving two hours and arriving for reservation and after waiting inside for ten minutes for someone to greet me, I was told that they were closed because the cook hadn’t come in. Employee offered to seat me the following day, but I was only visiting for that day. Had to abruptly find other dining locations at peak time. I understand things happen, but considering I had a reservation, a call would’ve been nice so I could make other arrangements elsewhere.

The portion sizes are enormous here. Unfortunately more does not equal better. The plating presentation, dish offerings and menu seem outdated. We opted for the chef's tasting menu and the first courses were good, the consomme was very good. In the section of the restaurant we were dining it was apparent that at least one diner at each table was extremely disappointed in the food they received. The service was very kind, but lackluster as we had to wait quite a while for recognition and then ask for water, etc instead of a proactive approach. In my opinion the menu could benefit from being cut in half, the portion sizes being cut in half and the plating and options being updated a bit.

We have visited Modesto several times in the past. Each time we have looked forward to it because we have had such a wonderful service and the food has been amazing. That being said, last nights experience was totally not up to par. We waited quite a while before our waitress ever came to our table and then she did not seem knowledgeable of the dishes when questions were asked. We ordered the mushroom pasta dish as well as a carbonara dish. Neither was cooked down sufficiently and was quite soupy. We noticed several other people who came in after us who were well into their meal before we ever got our appetizer. We will certainly try Modesto again as we have had Great experiences in the past. Unfortunately, this was not one of them.

Great food. The restaurant was a little cramped and the service was a little slow but the food was incredible. This was the 2nd night of our anniversary trip and we are huge Italian food fans. They even made my wife something off menu.

Visiting Asheville from FL. Went to celebrate a friend’s engagement. Originally wanted the shrimp scampi, but strangely was told it was in a red sauce? So instead, I ordered the bolognese (pictured) and a friend ordered the seafood carbonara. The bolognese was great, and the food was hot. I got to taste the tuna steak on the seafood carbonara and it was delicious. We did make reservations on open table for 9 pm on a friday night and still had a wait time of 15-20 minutes. The ambiance was nice and the noise level wasn’t too bad. It is near other places downtown, so we went to the bar next door to wait out our reservation.
