We didn't enjoy Mistura as much this time around. The food was good but not exceptional. We had the duck and veal marsala and our friends the two fish dishes. The biscotti plate was nothing special either. The service was ok--prompt and friendly enough, but our server seemed inexperienced.
As usual we had a lively dinner here. Just two of us. We split the fried artichoke hearts and they were great. One had branzino which was good and the other had the pasta with shrimp which was delicious.
Loved it. This restaurant was the perfect choice for us on a Wednesday. It felt relaxed and comfortable and we needed a place to unwind after a stress filled day. The food was good, no complaints there, the menu isn't huge but there's enough to choose from and they have specials not on the menu. We ate, drank and were merry! Service was great too.
Excellent food. Fantastic wine. Not pretentious. Just perfect.
The food was espectacular and the service was top notch! We will definitely come back.
Very ordinary food and service. Nothing exceptional at all for what advertised as one of the best in the city.
We ordered lamb lamb ($48$), artichoke ($18), I bones Orata fish ($36), tiramisu and creme brulee plus drinks. Food were all.good, the cream brulee we were charged for $8 for the toppings.
Customer service was worst. The server just kept on talking, flirting to my boyfriend and grabbed the menu from.my hands without asking my order. I told her I need the menu coz I have to order. She replied ”oh you are going to order?!? with her raised eyebrows then left.
When she came back it’s my boyfriend who ordered for me. We stayed because we don't want to totally ruin our date.
On the other hand, I have been in this place a couple of times and this is the worst experience I ever had not just in this restaurant, but my entire dining experience. She should be working there coz she is a liability.
But I love the restaurant and the food.
What was once a great place has fallen into serious decline. Too bad.
I used to go to Mistura fairly frequently, but, had not gone for a number of years. Having seen the 2019 Winterlicious menu which set out a three course dinner consisting of lobster bisque, brasato (described by Mistura as a "flatiron" steak) and a desert, I decided to go to Mistura. While the restaurant still has a really good ambience, what was described by Mistura as a flatiron steak was not similar to any flatiron steak I have had when it is paired with frites and marketed as steak frites....in this case, the "steak" was far more akin to braised beef or to pot roast. The lobster bisque may have been tasty but that may have been first predicated upon its having been heated. All in all, the meal was a disappointment.
The service was exceptional. For the price and status of this restaurant in Yorkville, we were disappointed with some of the items. Service was the best we have seen in quite some time.
Was a fun night with great ambiance and atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant. Food was fantastic, ambience was great. Overall, it was a great night out and good value for your money. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to going back again!
Overall not to bad. Food portions were good. Food did lack flavour and salt. Lobster bisque was more like fish broth than a bisque. The beef was fall apart good.
Not bad. Needs some tweaking.
Service is outstanding!!! Friendly, polite and dedicated to making your night special. Also, very accommodating as they were able to bring out a pre ordered dessert with a special birthday message as a suprise. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is lovely, especially being seated in one of their cozy, candle lit booths, a perfect spot for a date. Overall an amazing experience in all areas and would easily give 10/10.
We enjoyed the Winterlicious menu at Mistura on a cold Wednesday night. Kelly was a very attentive and friendly server. The food was delicious and in ample supply, unlike many of the Winterlicious menus that see restaurants cutting corners and cutting portions. Paolo and his staff do it right. It's easy to see why they've been around for more than 20 years.
Winterlicios menu was delicious. First time dinning. Will be back! Food was great. Very busy so was a bit loud
Went there for winterlicious. Red beet risotto & semi-alfredo were really good. Bisque, salad, flat iron & tiramisu were decent, quite ordinary if not a bit blend.. so overall ok but not sure it's worth $53 when you compare to other winterlicious restaurants..
Our experience was great! The owner himself even serves the food and makes sure you’re settled in. The service really was quite outstanding. Glad we came here for my friend’s bday.
Went to Mistura for my birthday. The ambience is beautiful and you are greeted right away by friendly staff. The waitress was very helpful with any questions regarding the menu and wine list. The owner is very gracious and also helps to serve and chat. You feel very welcomed and our dinner was delicious.
The food, and the ambiance are divine, Paolo and Brent and the Wait staff are so detail oriented that you feel like you are eating with family. Try the Beef Carpaccio, the Salads, the Soups, and the Veal Parmagiana
But the Lasagna, is the best bar none in the world. It is worth all the carbs!!!!
Really good food amd service. This resto has been around for a while, so you know for it to exist this long and in this nbhd (with its myriad of dining option) means it has to be good. We especially loved the fried artichokes and beet risotto, both long time house specialties. Our waiter was efficient, fun amd personable. Always enjoy our meals here...and not too bad value either for what you get. Decent wine list, with the focus on Italian wines.
Had skimpy, although tasty appetizer of zucchini/ricotta miniature fried balls for $12.
Good tasting, well prepared main was one of the two fish dishes with barley and greens $29.
Second main ordered was 8oz fillet mingnon steak with mashed and greens. The steak was an uneven end piece which typically would be a cheaper cut that should not be offered as a "special" for $48.00! Would be nice if the bread basket had been refilled.
Price of a 5oz red wine on the check was higher than indicated on the wine list.
No apology or any good will shown for unsatisfactory items.
Overall by far too expensive.
Will not book Mistura again.
My friends and I got together at Mistura for our annual Xmas get together. Everything was excellent. Food was fantastic. Our waitress was great. Noise level was good so we could actually talk. My only issue is the manager asked us if we could leave because people were waiting. We wondered if this would have been asked of men. This will not deter us from going there again.
Great service but very tired decor and food executed very poorly.
Didn't seem to be a maître d' as we waited but the English bar tender was excellent, extremely hospitable and welcoming, same as we were leaving. We also really liked our server -- a tall young woman with short black hair, a great smile and long earrings. that help to compensate for what we felt was a kind of dated food experience. The restaurant seems to be full of older diners, loyal to the time when there were a lot less choices in Toronto.
Food? Meh. The Frito Misto was good, small for $18 and the tomatoes with Bufala cheese was incredibly average, very overpriced for the size -- just an ordinary appetizer. Disappointing for $18! Artichokes were deep fried in batter, nothing up to what I was expecting or like we had in several
places in Italy. The Capricciosa salad though highly recommended by our server was very small and uninteresting. Branzino was good and veal Marsala was totally old school, mashed potato and boring mushrooms in a dark brown sauce made it most unspectacular on the plate. For $32 we were again, disappointed.
I doubt that we will return as there are so many fantastic choices these days in Toronto! The whole place has a 90s vibe, it needs refreshing for sure!
Very pleasant dinner. Warm, friendly reception. Attentive and polite server. Not at all rushed. Very good Italian menu, with very nice wine recommendation. A quiet mid-week evening, though have seen the restaurant much busier in the past. Will definitely return.
Outstanding Service, Excellent food
Pricey, but worth it
First time visiting I was looking for a place for a special birthday. Went on a recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint. Great staff, great atmosphere and great food! Relaxed and no one rushing you. Menu had a great selection, something for everyone. Pricing worth what you get. Been going back ever since, and everything gets better w their seasonal menu :)
Great service. Lots of variety to the menu. Always worth going
Hello Pam, Paolo and Silvio,
Our meals on Wed. night to celebrate Estelle's birthday, were so outstanding. The quality and presentation was perfect, Bridget was an excellent server and we loved the choices on the birthday dessert platter. Thank you all for such a great evening and especially to Silvio for my safe, allergy-free meal which I enjoyed very much. You never fail to deliver in all aspects. Thank you.
Warm regards from Judith
A truly excellent evening with attentive/warm assistance from all staff and quality food that ensures we will return to Mistura in the future
Exceptional Food, incredibly wait staff, and management, Brent and the crew amazing...Paolo has built an amazing place to dine, to meet and to enjoy
Excellent ambiance and food, great service. Everything is fresh and homemade
Clean and well appointed
Great wine list
People often go for wine tasting!
This restaurant while it was not terrible, it was not great. Service was average even though at times it was difficult to get our waiter's attention and it took awhile to bring drinks and food. The food is what I took issue with. It was not good. It was lacking in creativity, taste and poorly presented ( there was no proper seasoning on the meat, not even simple salt and pepper seemed to have been added to it). I am not sure how it is considered one of the best Italian in Toronto as there are much better restaurants in Toronto. Also I took an issue when the bill came. I did not eat my meal because it tasted bad and was replaced with something else with half the portion and the restaurant charged me the full bill for the food I did not eat and did not have enough courtesy to take it off the bill. My husband said not to say anything as we were celebrating my birthday but I was disappointed. I also realized that the manager/ owner went around the table greeting the customers but did not make it to our table( not sure if it has something to do with us not being the typical kind of people to frequent Yorkille/ Forest Hill area). We noticed most of the there were people over the age of 50years and Caucasians. On a good note, the greeter at the front was extremely friendly and their dessert was good but was not impressed with the rest of the service. The food was also expensive for the quality you get. My husband and I paid $180 in total( including tips- which I thought he gave too much as it was not deserved), for 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert. We also noticed there was an event going on upstairs and it was a bit loud as the music could be heard in the dining room which was a bit annoying. We will not be back.
Fantastic meal, great ambiance, and wonderful service. Would go back in a heartbeat!
We selected Mistura for a landmark birthday and they did not disappoint. To say this was simply a great meal would be n understatement as the staff created an unforgettable experience. The service was incredible and included frequent visits from the owner - delightful! The food was delicious - fresh white truffle shaved over pasta was just too good to pass up and did not disappoint. That was followed by wild boar ravioli which had a reduction that was to die for. Mistura finished our evening off with an elegant desert selection and lemonchello made in house! The atmosphere was perfect on top of everything.
Decent food but not outstanding. Good service. Reasonable bill if you stick to lower priced-wine. But the place is way too noisy though. Wine list has a limited number of reasonably priced wine, all very pedestrian and a much longer list of much overpriced wines. The food is middle of the road. The wine list does not pair well...
EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM NICK AND HIS ASSOCIATES.
GREAT LAMB APPETIZERS
WILD BOAR RAVIOLI AMAZING
BIRTHDAY CAKE WELL DONE
The food is excellent. The service was poor. we arrived at 9 pm of a Saturday. The staff may want to finish as early as possible. when we were eating, there was a smell of bleach coming from the kitchen. As soon as I finished my dish, they took the plate not even asking if I were done. It was obvious that they all wanted to finish as soon as possible.
The prices are expensive so -at least- the service should be excellent and respect the clients of all times (not only the once going early).
Amazing.. Can't wait to go back. Perfect evening .
I love going there.
The food is amazing,
The wait staff is amazing.
Tamara you take such good care of your clients.
Paolo the owner takes amazing care of his guests. I find everything on the menus scrumptious;
but particularly, try the Beef Capaceo, and the Lasagna is INCREDIBLE.
Also try the fish, and the deserts
