My wife had the sea bass and loved it. I had the mission pasta which was good but not great. The banana tart was outstanding. The ambiance is excellent for a romantic dinner.
The staff was incredibly friendly. The drinks were delivered quickly and the food was at the table before wed finished our appetizers. The food was fresh and very well cooked. And to top it all off, the desserts were extra delicious and perfectly portioned. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful scenery, how ever food was very mediocre.
The food was great. My guest was very happy with the wine selection and the service was impecable.
Great food, but quite pricey at $52.50 for adults. A splurge going once a year.
Was in town on business and have always wanted to see the Mission Inn. It did not disappoint. Excellent service. Great Cobb Salad.
Limited lunch menu. And NO Mexican options. That is a miss.
(Only outdoor seating area offers Mexican dishes - which, when you want to sit outside, are outstanding.)
This place is amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to return next month during our next trip into Los Angeles. The reason for the four stars for food is we elected to have the luncheon buffet. While the food was very good, I think most people realize that buffets, by their nature, lack the advantages of hot, fresh meals direct from the kitchen. Next time we're ordering off the menu.
Our server and wait staff were excellent and this property is spectacular.
The table service was wonderful, however, one of the items ordered was requested to be medium well and was served medium rare. There seemed to be an easy fix, however the remaining guests had finished their meals by the time this plate was redelivered.
Overall a nice evening and restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited.
Festival of Lights. What else can be said! 🤓
Excellent buffet selection of everything. Unlike other buffets, food was replenished right up to closing. Extraordinary property: attractive, historical and well maintained
This is an outstanding place to go to brunch. There are so many food choices and each are delicious. The service is above outstanding.
We go here every Christmas to have a family dinner. We eat at the Mission Inn Restaurant and sit on the patio for the great ambiance. The food is Okay and getting more and more expensive with fewer choices. I had the buffet for $48. To much money. The food is always the same. The desert bar is getting more spare in choices. The only redeeming factor was the prime rib and their bread pudding. The other entrees (chicken and salmon in sauce) were mediocre.
We will probably continue to go because of tradition.
We came to enjoy the Festival of Lights. This is our third year dining at the Mission Inn. It is always excellent and we were lucky to eat outside this time. We brought along our two preschool grandsons and they were well attended to. We will continue to visit the Mission Inn Restaurant each Christmas season. The food and service are great and the decorations are beautiful. We love visiting here each year!!
Ordered off the lunch menu and the 8oz. New York steak was delicious as was the salmon
The pasta primavera was just okay. I ordered a Ruben Sandwich and it was a disappointment
The Caesar salad, onion rings and French fries were very good
Our waitress Christine was very friendly and made our meal very pleasant
It was a let down that both the rose' and a kicl red wine were on the wine list but the server informed us that neither was available! The service was also a tad too slow.
They were out of 2 main dishes and we had to wait for them to be cooked. The buffet should be managed more carefully. The quality of the food was good.
My granddaughter and I had the prime rib buffet. The salmon and chicken did not have much flavor. Everything else was very good. My son-in-law had a cheeseburger. It looked wonderful, but again was lacking flavor. My grandson and young granddaughter had chicken tenders and spaghetti. They deemed them delicious! My daughter had the filet. She said it was excellent. The server was very good, as was the atmosphere. Overall I would definitely go back.
Wonderful ambiance & service!
Tasty food. Excellent and prompt service. Lovely room and great decor.
We are vegetarians and saw that there was a burger with a veggie patty option on the menu that we were very much looking forward to having. Unfortunately, our server told us that there were no veggie burgers that evening. The only entree available to us was a pasta primavera. We ordered one wedge salad, sauteed mushrooms, a spinach salad and one pasta primavera. My son was satisfied with his spinach salad. I was not satisfied with my share of the primavera, wedge salad and mushrooms. They were okay in flavor but not satisfying and I did not want to fill up on rolls. I had a veggie burger patty when I got home. Maybe next time we visit there will be a veggie burger option available!
Buffet was mostly cold, champagne flat, and $50 per person expected much better...not returning.
In the past, the buffet was outstanding. Sadly, this visit, the quality and selection was merely average.
Terrific evening. Open table made it easy. Ambience was fabulous. All employees were in the New Year's Eve spirit. Highly recommend the buffet and Armando the server.
We celebrated the holidays
The ambience during the Festival of Lights was amazing! The food was excellent and the service very good. The only reason I have deducted a star is because the dinner menu is much more limited than it was last year. Not only that, my friends and I had checked the menu online in advance, but the Dinner Menu on the Mission Inn’s website is the old one. We were blandly informed that we could not order anything that doesn’t appear on the current menu “because it’s dinner time now.” The website needs to be updated so prospective guests have accurate information. That said, we did enjoy the food we ended up ordering and had a most pleasant evening.
It was beautiful - all the lights. Sat on the patio and it was very comfortable. Wait staff was very pleasant and competent. Had a wonderful night. It was a little pricey - particularly the wine - but knew that before making a reservation. Keep up the good work!
Great service, great food and outstanding Valet parking attendants! Looking forward to our next visit next week!
We arrived to the place, and the staff was friendly. They got us seated relatively quickly and took our orders. Some of the food took a while, but it was relatively good. Overall, it was not top of the line, but it was worth coming.
This was our annual best friends Christmas Breakfast. We have been coming to the Mission Inn for years. Love the Christmas atmosphere, great service, great tradition.
Worst buffet ever... get rid of it... not worth the $48... should’ve ordered from the menu... could’ve had pasta w/shrimp or chicken for a lot less... could’ve had a lot of items on the menu for a lot less... even if I would’ve ordered a steak for more than the the price of the buffet, it would’ve been worth it.
When I booked the brunch back in September it was for a brunch with Santa. While we were there I asked the waitress about the Santa part and she said that’s only during the holiday season but she had been asked about Santa twice today and would check with a manager. She came back and said there was no Santa and didn’t know what happened. So I paid $130 including tip to have brunch with my 12 year old son 🤦🏽♀️
It was wonderful! Just wish they had healthier options for kids
The service, food quality and even more the deserts were top of the world.
Over the Christmas season is always a special time to come here in addition to the rest of the year.
I was concerned about eating outside in December but was so glad we did. The heaters kept us warm and the ambience was magical. Service was great, especially taking care of my 2 picky kids. Wish the restaurant had its own bathroom though as the lines were very long in the lobby from people viewing the lights.
Love our annual Christmas tradition of meeting at the MIssion Inn for dinner. The hotel is lovely and restaurant beautiful with all the holiday decorations. Buffet was great!
Christmas Eve dinner with my Mom & sister. Service was excellent, food was top notch, and the carolers were a real treat.
We where there just after Christmas and the decorations were outstanding.
However, the food was not what I had expected. The menu seemed very limited. There was only 2 fish dishes, 1 steak, 5 or 6 salads and 6 or 7 hamburgers, etc. When I made the reservation I didn't know that there was more than one restaurant at the Mission Inn. It would have been nice if someone had mentioned that. We drove an hour and half to get there and I'm not sure it was worth it. We have restaurant that are just as nice or nicer closer to us.
