The food was nothing special. My wife and I split the Guinness braised beef short rib. The meat was cooked nicely, however, the portions were relatively small and the carrot was undercooked. As a side, we added the bacon brussel sprouts, they were also undercooked and lacked seasoning.
Overall, the food is not worth the price; there are many restaurants in the Twin Cities where you can get much better food for the same or lower price.
I will not be keeping Mission on my list of MPLS restaurants to which I need to return.
We had to ask for bread it was not brought to us
Menu seemed heavy on seafood, and not many vegetarian options.
We had tickets to a show. It was close to the venue. We had reservations for a booth. Was seated in a private room at a tiny table with next to a table of 8-10 women. It was loud. And the main dining room had plenty of open tables. I wish I would have requested a change.
The food was very good. Not spectacular but good. We ordered halibut and scallops. Scallops had a nice crust which is hard to find. Service was slow even though restaurant wasn’t busy. Furnishings showing age...
Our food was good but not great. There was nothing bad, it just wasn’t outstanding. I would go again but would not order the halibut nor the walleye. We ordered a great bottle of wine (it was 1/2 off) and it was delicious.
Had the fish of the day, Arctic Char, and it was very good and came with fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe. Would have given the food a higher rating but the broccoli rabe was not quite done enough.
Nice meal. Great staff. A bit pricey
Fausto is a wonderful server!! Everyone at Mission treats us very well every single time we visit.
As always - the Mission American Kitchen was perfect. This was a business lunch and their staff knows how to balance the need to taking orders but also not to interrupt the conversation. And the food was excellent.
Beet salad was good. Served it on separate plates when we mentioned we’d be splitting it. Scallops were great. Skip the ceviche.
The service was the best of all the places we went in downtown over the weekend. I have to be honest we hadn't planned on coming here but another one of the top rated restaurants "due to unfortunate circumstances had to cancel our reservation" for 7:00 on Saturday night at 6:00! Now what??? The Mission American Kitchen was on the way to the theater (it is in the IDS Building) and had openings so we tried it. We were very pleased :). The food and the service was excellent. Our server went above and beyond. There were several open tables. It's not a trendy place - so the ambiance and the name may be the issue.
Food was just ok. Service was slow even though they weren’t very busy.
Portions seemed a little light for the price. Not much prime rib in the special omelette. Nice atmosphere and location.
The mussels were outstanding! I really enjoyed the scallops, although the risotto was just average. But the scallops were seasoned and cooked to perfection! Great service. Tom gave great suggestions and obviously knew the menu well. We went pre-show on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet. I imagine they get most of their business on the weeknights with the downtown business customer base. But you can't beat a Saturday half-price bottle of wine deal!
Server was great, food was good, service was quick. We did have fruit flies buzzing around and one landed in my wife’s wine glass.
Reliably great food every time. Staff is friendly and efficient. You can never go wrong with Mission American Kitchen and Bar.
Our challenge with this restaurant as soon as we were seated. Although we were shown to our table promptly, we waited 15 minutes in an almost empty restaurant for wait staff to greet us, introduce the menu, and take a drink order. Orders were taken and the food arrived promptly but I would rate quality and taste as good at best. My walleye was well prepared and sauteed vegetables were crisp and tasty. My wife's pork tenderloin was dry and light on flavor. Overall all it was not the greatest restaurant for a special night out, and with the abundance of excellent restaurants in the city, I likely would not book this place again.
So good. We really enjoyed it! The food was amazing. Service was impeccable. Thank You!
Wait staff was wonderful, food was excellent, only bad thing was my bout with reflux ☹️
Mission is a good before or after show spot. They had half off on a bottle of wine, which made it a good deal.
The food was not good tasting and was expensive. The service and surroundings are nice but I will not go out of my way to return here.
We brought a vendor from St. Louis. MO. here for lunch. The food came out in less than 5 minutes and was fantastic! Our waiter was prompt and attentive - we felt like we were at a fancy restaurant for dinner; not just a business lunch. I had the salmon BLT (HIGHLY recommend it!), and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and service you get. Our out of town guests (who were visiting Mpls. for the first time) were very impressed.
Food was good overall; The Beet & Goat Cheese Salad was the only disappointment. Three slices of bland golden beets on a large salad of greens with some goat cheese tossed on top...
Our waitres was so terrific. We had just gotten out of the hospital and needed a bland diet. She was able to offer us great options. And it was only 2 blocks from the Marriott where we were staying.
Had the special, Prosciutto wrapped Salmon, it was overcooked and
very disappointing. Service was good.
Food and service was outstanding, particularly the Ahi Taco's, wow. Tables felt crowded in and the noise level was also a bit high which makes it lively, but also difficult to have a private conversation. Two entrances seem unfortunately necessary but makes it awkward for some tables (including ours) that constantly had people walking/standing by us. Had I known I would have asked for a table away from the path between the two entrances. They might want to consider some sort of divider. Again the food and service was outstanding so the minor inconvenience I mentioned above would not keep me from recommending or visiting again.
Centrally located in the Nicolet Mall area, this eatery has a great "American" menu that should appeal to most diners. It is also located very close to the Mary Tyler Moore statue. Food is good to very good, but not spectacular. Service during our meal was top notch. Prices are in the mid-range and commensurate with food quality.
This was my first and last visit to Mission. I went with high hopes. The waitress seemed to be brand new and very out of it. The food came at all different times. The crab cakes were frozen inside. The salad drenched in dressing, the rice was mushy... the shrimp was crunchy and over battered.
Great service & excellent food!
Mission was fantastic. We ended up here after a bad experience at another restaurant before a concert left our group short on time. The staff was incredibly responsive, food was excellent all around and turned our evening around. Thank you Mission!
I’m hoping it was just an off night...seated at 5:15 and only a few other tables...drinks took 20 minutes and 2 were incorrectly made and after an hour our food had not arrived. Disappointing!
It was dinner at 5pm prior to the Eagles concert. It did not feel like they were properly prepared. We did not get the bread before the meal as we saw everyone around us getting. Service was slow. Some other patrons did not even get their order taken until the guest sought out a server.
The asparagus dish with pasta was fantastic.Everything else was excellent. Tim was the waiter and we were so impressed that we asked for him the second night we dined there. Very conversational, excellent recommendations - just an overall wonderful evening.
Good food. Relatively affordable. Interesting room.
Great lunch! Had the mahi-mahi delicious!
One of my go to places on Tuesday night half price bottle of wine. Meals are very good; will be back again
Tasty devil eggs, delicious black bean veggie burger, average salad
Fabulous food, environment and outstanding staff. Will return
The food and service was outstanding and it provided an excellent place to discuss business.
The food is always wonderful. I have never been disappointed. The wait staff are always pleasant and friendly.
