This is our new favorite restaurant in Gainesville and will be our go-to restaurant for special (actually ANY) occasions! The menu changes depending on available fresh ingredients and each dish was flavorful, well balanced and expertly prepared and presented. The escargot was tender and flavorful and the pomme frites with mushrooms and aioli a decadent shareable appetizer. The sirloin steaks were done to perfection, as was the salmon. Their decadent desserts were over the top, including the chocolate fudge cake and carrot cakes. I’m looking forward to trying more of their on site prepared desserts next time, probably this week since we have guests arriving. You owe it to yourself to try this excellent restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!
Excellent price fixe menu with a nice flexibility to swap sides and upgrade from salad to appetizer. Lovely selection, great service and presentation. Even my two teens enjoyed the whole experience.
Great family dinner!
We got there early so it was nice and quiet as we celebrated my father's upcoming birthday. The four of us each had a drink and the meal plan, starter, entree, and dessert. The lamb was great, the Cobia was good but not the best fish I have ever had. My only complaint was the really expensive but very minimal crab cake appetizer. It was half the price of the meal plan but very minimal in amount. I think the restaurant needs to double the amount.
Stellar service and food.
I wish I had the name of our server on the afternoon of 29 December, but at least I have the time. Everyone on staff was welcoming of our dogs out on the patio; and the server was especially accommodating and nurturing of the dogs, which is nice at any time, but is especially needed when traveling great distances.
The menu is sophisticated; and the chef does a beautiful job.
If we lived in the area, we’d be regulars. This is just the place to be if you have high standards for dining.
We left feeling replenished and glad to have experienced Mildred’s.
Thank you, all!
This was the perfect place to dine on Christmas Eve. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding, as always. The menu choices were diverse, and the value for the three course meal was more than reasonable. We look forward to dining there again, as Mildred's is always a favorite of ours; but will definitely return on Christmas Eve next year.
Read all the rave reviews. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience but are not quite as impressed as others. Interesting wine list, quite pricey. A very casual place with friendly and competent service. Creative menu with a decent range of choices. The menu is presented as fixed price, but you can order Ala carte. Preparation was quite nice. An interesting blend of flavors.
We had a great dinner and the servers knew what they were doing. The concept of a three course meal for a fixed price is a good one. The portions could be smaller and the value would still be there.
Really enjoyable. Rare occasion where plated food resembles and exceeds the menu copy. Quality ingredients, perfectly seasoned and top notch technique. Was surprised to find 3 course fixed menu but that turned into an incredible value. Could work as a quiet night out or a celebration. Staff knows menu and hit the right notes of attentiveness without disruption. Will be back!
Mildred's is our "go to" place to meet with old friends once a month for great food, a good wine list and five star service. Our servers were especially attentive without "hovering. They helped with our selection of entree and were friendly and patient with our questions related to one of our guests food allergies. Mildred's is both a neighborhood gem and a place for foodies.
Big portions..Cesar salad and desserts fabulous. Wait staff excellent.
We were sat
Must return next time in Gainesville Fl. Ordered 3 course dinner & every course was delightful.
Awesome service, meal & hospitality as always!
Another great dining experience
My husband and I dined at Mildred's for an anniversary and we were treated to two flutes of a delightful sparkling wine. We had the $38 fixed prix dinner. He had the butternut squash bisque. I tasted it and it was so creamy with tiny shrimp and a subtle curry flavor. I had a Caesar salad. He had a pasta dish with lobster and asparagus. It was delicious! I had the NY Strip Steak which was cooked to perfection . The Lyonaisse Blue cheese potatoes were thinly sliced and seasoned perfectly. I had to share with him because my portions were so generous! I did save room for the ricotta cheese cake and he had the chocolate cake iced with coconut icing. Our server was attentive but not at all annoying. The restaurant was full on a Thursday night but the tables were still spaced for Covid protocols. All the staff wore masks too.
Wonderful as always!
Amazing food and fantastic service. And don't eat too much for dinner because the desserts are to die for! A Gainesville favorite of ours.
Delicious food and great service! The Hen dish was wonderful. Gem salad was a gem. Coconut cake was fantastic!
Always a great meal and service any time we come to Gainesville!! Thank you
Was only priced fix menu with appetizers, meal and dessert included. Would be good to offer al a carte items too when don’t want all that.
Overall it was meh at best. There were communication issues amongst the staff & multiple tables were seated & waited on before anyone came to ours. The entrees were ok but nothing spectacular. To be honest we were still peckish after eating our entrees (Salmon & Scallops). The desserts were huge & the Tiramisu cake was quite good. The cocktails were good too. Just wish the menu was revamped as the choices are limited - especially the appetizers.
We were delighted with our time at Mildred's! We enjoyed great food and excellent service!!
Always an exceptional experience at Mildred’s!!
Great food and service. Especially like a good outside dining option.
Slow service and restaurant was empty.
Mildred's never disappoints. The menu is constantly changing, and everything is always flavorful and served in relatively generous portions. Cocktails are masterfully made, and the dessert case! The dessert case is unparalleled. The service is attentive and friendly, and I think it's a very reasonable price for a 3-course dinner.
My SOLE complaint about Mildred's is that the inside could use a little sprucing up. It feels a little dreary; but we tend to sit outdoors anyway. Definitely a Gainesville gem and a favorite for dates.
Will not return.
Mildreds has great food, an outstanding staff and a great wine selection. Meals are always great at Mildred’s!
It was our first time but absolutely won’t be our last!! Food was incredible and our waitress was kind and attentive! I think my husband and I found our new favorite date night spot!
Personable, caring service and great place to enjoy a safe lunch.
Wonderful anniversary dinner. Our server Emma was wonderful too.
Everything was great, from the owners, servers, and the delicious meals!, you must try this wonderful place in Gainesville.
We had such a nice evening wonderful food. Excellent food anbrhe chocolate corruption cake was just enough to put the eve I g over the top. Whether you live in Gainesville or just dropping your kids off for college , don’t miss this gem!
A gem that deserves a visit by anyone coming to Gainesville. Locally-sourced ingredients showcased in regional cuisine. Delectable cocktails, reasonable wine list and incredible desserts. Perfect slightly upscale treat for parents visiting U of F students.
Landed at GNV and decided cooking dinner was not in the cards, and what a good decision it was to come here. Excellent all around.
It was time for another birthday party at Mildreds. We were seated in a proper distance from other diners. The menu was varied and had offerings for everyone of our group. Service was great. It was night to remember.
So glad we found this! A hidden gem in Gainesville.
I wish we could afford to eat at Mildred's more than we do. Food is pricey because it is locally sourced, sometimes organic, super fresh, and the chef's inspirations are amazingly wonderful. Service and ambience are nice and the atmosphere is mature with some diversity and fun. Everyone should feel welcome.
Gainesvilles mainstay. Chef Gill and his team putting out fresh, well prepared, locally sourced food. Friendly and professional staff!
