   Very good as always. Appetizer was good but shrimp was too salty suggesting the pre prep was not quite as it should have been. Main courses were very good and the dessert was absolutely spectacular especially the bread pudding which had multiple flavors and a generous portion.

   The food itself was very good. The service was decent. We sat outside in the atrium and it was HOT. While the server had an assistant who helped with food transfers and refills, the server himself was hard to find and only seen sometimes. We went for dinner and stayed for almost 3 hours due to slow service. While we expected it to be a longer event, our butts began to hurt from sitting so long. Just keep in mind the atrium can get hot and that it may take forever to wrap up the meal.

   Food was excellent. The mussels were the best we have ever had, especially the broth. Very energetic atmosphere with live piano that you can hear throughout the entire restaurant. Our server was very good, except she had too many tables to cover. Highly recommended.

   Only drawback is the price. As long as the service and food is top shelf-it’s worth it. If they’re busy and you can only get an early (5pm) reservation, you’ll end up outside the bar vs. the dining room, but it works. Noise levels get pretty loud from 6:30pm forward. Outside dining with the fans isn’t bad if the humidity is tolerable. This option is often open when you can’t get a reservation in the dining room.

   Our dining experience at Michael’s on East was a positive one. The oysters were delicious. Crab stack and seafood bouillabaisse were just as good. There was an issue with the chicken/bow tie pasta dish. The peas that were mentioned were not in the dish and the entree itself was incredibly sweet. So much so I could not eat it. Nothing in the description had ingredients to make it sweet. Our waitress (who was excellent) wound up telling us the sauce is a sweet teriyaki sauce used on the chicken. That should have been stated as I do not like teriyaki and would have chosen something else. But overall, a good experience and will go back for another try and a different dish.

   Service was great. We were there to celebrate an anniversary. We tried the Wagyu Tomahawk Steak. Neither of us are red meat eaters. Once a year, we indulge and it is at Micheal's. The salads were out of this world. We chose Boston Apple and Pear Salad and their Seasonal Salad. We selected creamed spinach and potato croquette. Both made excellent side dishes to the steak. Our dessert was Chocolate Cake. An equally amazing ending to our meal. Our evening at Michael's was memorable.

   Michaels continues to be our favorite Sarasota Restaurant overall. Nice wide variety of dishes! EXCELLENT service - probably the best around! We continue to go at least once a month if not more - as it is just that good - and believe me - we are PICKY foodies!

    Overall, Michael’s is disappointing. Upon entering, it’s immediately obvious that this is kind of a fancy joint. Even drinking cocktails at the bar to live lounge piano feels pretty fancy. However, the once we sat down to eat, the facade seemed to become more apparent. Service, while trying very hard, seemed hit or miss. They were either coming by too often or leaving you wondering where they were. The food also has an expensive facade that doesn’t live up to expectations. For $59, I expect a filet mignon to be cooked and seasoned to perfection, not under-seasoned and overcooked. All the food was missing the point on seasoning: lobster bisque: under, my wife’s sea bass: under, the brussel sprouts: somehow over seasoned! For the quality of food, it isn’t worth the price tag. Like I said, disappointing.
