They did a great job accommodating us for our anniversary dinner. However, the stuffing was coming out of the upholstery in our booth, the food was good, but we felt overpriced. The creamed spinach was not very good at all. For the money we would probably choose the Capital Grille or Ruth’s Chris or Fleming’s in the future.
So nice to enjoy a real fine dining experience again.
You will not be disappointed with the service or the food. All go above and beyond to create a great experience.
This was our second visit to Michael's on East and once again, it did not disappoint! The food is phenomenal and the service, excellent! If you are looking for a real treat, this is it! Will be back again for sure!
My wife and I had meat dinner entres. Both were excellent. Service was great. Restaurant is a little pricey but with it.
Hi Michael, we are thrilled to hear you and your wife enjoyed your evening with us! Thanks for coming in!
Excellent meal - fresh ingredients- normal portion sizes! Original combination of ingredients.
Hi Anna, thank you for the kind words. See you next time!
Superb experience, service, and meal.
Thank you, Brielle. Excellent to hear!
Kathy our server in the dining room was magnificent. The bar staff outstanding and having the piano player performing made for an outstanding time for us at Michael’s on East.
We are so glad you had a great night with us. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Kathy!
Excellent from the moment we walked in the door.
Friendly hostess. Attentive waitstaff. Excellent food.
We will be back.
We can't wait to have you back!
Perfect place for a business lunch.
We have been here msny times and it’s a favorite of ours. But this time they were not at the top of their game. The waitress seemed rushed although she admitted she only had two tables. My veal chop was not hot. The place seemed noisy.
Very impressed moved here two half years ago and it was best meal we’ve had here yet - definitely back - my fish was wonderful.
So happy to hear that, Ginger!
What a fantastic dining experience. Beautifully modern decor with an established presence in the community. I am partial to "white tablecloth" restaurants and they did not disappoint. The extensive wine list is expertly curated. Fabulous entrees. Exemplary wait staff. Kristine(Krissy) is a fifteen year veteran of this restaurant and I will always request her to attend our table. The pricing is reasonable considering the quality and atmosphere. There is a warm piano bar as well, elegantly located adjacent to the dining area. It is a great place for after dinner cocktails. A marvelous evening all-around.
Thank you ever so much for the kind review, Jorge. We are thrilled you enjoyed your evening with us. And, we'll be sure to extend the compliments to Krissy!
I love the wine flights and bites! Great idea. Creative bar food and the regular menu options are always outstanding.
So happy to hear that, Terri :) Come back this week for our "blind" flight!
Service very slow and confused - 2 waiters to our table so it appeared that one did not know what the other was doing. Went for lunch, specifying it was our anniversary - that was not acknoweleged.
Buss service was lacking too - notably when setting up tables throwing silverware on tables and touching eating ends with his hands and holding glasses by the rims - not the stems.
We will be back as it is one of our favorite restaurants - but it took 2 hours for lunch in a fairly empty dining room.
As usual, our dining experience was without equal. We had the lobster pot and it surpassed any lobster dinner we have had anywhere else. The lobster and everything else served with it was cooked to perfection. The wine we selected was excellent and reasonably priced. After dinner we opted to skip dessert and go directly to an after-dinner coffee. We both very much enjoyed our selection. The service was every bit as good as the food. Our waiter, Joe, was courteous, pleasant and very attentive. We have never been disappointed with either the service or the food. Michael’s sets the standard for other restaurants to follow.
A wonderful dinner celebrating my Mother's 90th birthday. Drinks at the bar were great, food and service was exceptional. Wine prices are also reasonable. Overall a great experience. Will be back
The epicurean dinner was singapoe. It was great. The cobia was outstanding. The pork buns were better than in Singapore. Great meal.
The service was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered raw oysters and a small filet. I must say that both were among the best I have ever had. The ambience was very nice and the noise level was fairly low which is great for me since hearing is an issue.
Hi Samuel. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your experience with us! See you next time!
Great food! Great service! Great music by Joe on the piano. We’ll be back soon!
We have always enjoyed dining at Michael’s and this was no exception. However, it was a Friday night and the bar was exceptionally noisy and this carried over to our table. We had asked for another table but they had only a very small one available so we did not take that one. We had the Lobster Pot and it was very good and also a good value. The service was excellent. The only negative was the noise level.
Hi Cazzy, our apologies about the noise! Our lounge is a popular place on Friday night! So glad you enjoyed your lobster!
new menu from about 3 weeks ago n lot same food or value. my wife salmon way too salty
So sorry to hear that your wife found her salmon too salty. We do hope you'll come back soon for a visit!
Had a terrific lunch here. Prices were reasonable for quality of food. Perfect restaurant for an “upscale” lunch— able to sit
and talk with luncheon guests too. Highly recommended.
Hi David, we agree, lunch is terrific here, and a perfect place to host a luncheon with friends!
Excellent food and service. Ambiance was great but... it was Monday evening
Took friends for the first time. We all loved it
:) so happy to hear!
All things being equal with "upscale" restaurants in the area, Michael's on East pays particular attention to the little things that make a huge impact. The hostesses, while still young college age gals, are schooled in the art of welcoming the guests, and displaying an eagerness to serve. Insuring we don't miss the Epicurean menu (chef designed) for the evening, the hostess points out the features and benefits. There is a modest corkage charge (bring your own wine bottle) which wine snobs (us) really appreciate. The menu feature truly premium name purveyors (Niman Ranch, Snake River Farms) sure to please the food connoisseur. O!ur server was experienced, delightfully pleasant, made excellent suggestions, timed the delivery of appetizers, salads, entrees, etc. perfectly...and as a final note, Michael's served us a complimentary dessert in celebration of our special occasion. Michael's on East...where the value is much greater than the price. Go tonight, go every week
You made our day! Thank you for such kind words!
From the attendant who parked our car to the delicious chocolate cake provided by the restaurant we enjoyed every part of dining at Michael’s on East. All courses including the bread were so delicious as was our martinis and glasses of wine. We came to the right place for a special occasion.
This is awesome, we are honored you chose us to celebrate with! See you next time!
Dined at Michael’s to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. All patrons were greeted nicely and asked if it was a special occasion. Several people said yes and complimentary dessert was offered. The variety of food was expansive. The quality was excellent. Our waiter was very good in explaining the menu and describing and recommending items. The swordfish and rack of lamb were cooked perfectly. The wine list is expansive. We were too full to eat dessert and the waiter offered to box it for home.
Happy Anniversary! Cheers to many more, we will see you next time!
First visit. Really cool Sarasota vibe .... classy and elegant .... but friendly and warm. Food.... exceptional! The dessert.... out of this world. We will be returning 😁
Love this! Be sure to check out our next Epicurean adventure menu, starting August 1.
Food was good not great. Very diverse menu with excellent service. Our waiter was extremely helpful with recommendations and describing the dishes on the menu.
Sorry to hear your food was sub-par. Come back and see us and try the new Epicurean menu next month! It's good one!
Fantastic as always! We always come with family and friends- the food the service the ambiance is great!! Love the tasting menus! And ending the night at the piano bar with Joe Michaels is a must!! Love this place!
Unfortunately, the entrees lacked flavor. We ordered the scallops and Chilean sea bass entrees and started with the filet tartar. The filet tartar was very nice and flavorful with a beautiful presentation. Caviar was a nice touch. Entrees both lacked flavor, cook was nice but sea bass was in a soupy, flavorless liquid. Scallops were cooked well but also lacked flavor. Carrot cake to go was average at best. Waitress was attentive but not intrusive. We have been in Sarasota for 15 years and have dined at most every restaurant in the area. Michaels did not live up to our expectations. This is our third try and will likely be our last.
Exceptional dining experience. Rib eye cap was a delight. Great service. Very nice wine list....Our new favorite restaurant.
We asked to be seated in bar area high top but should h e taken a table. Piano player very good but too loud for conversation sitting right next to him.
Ryan was our server and he was excellent. Was quiet when we arrived at 6:00pm reservation but quickly filled up and his service was still fantastic.
My friend and I shared an appetizer. Lobster & L’escargot in a wonderful sauce were delicious. My husband had baby romaine salad and it was very tasty.
We had a thick Pork Chop, bone in which was delicious. 9 oz
Beef Filet was very tasty but my Pompano was out of this world.Quite a generous portion..
No dessert. Too full!
Good food, good service, quiet and NOT freezing!!! Loved it! Didn't have to bring a blanket!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful experience. Michael makes rounds to all of the tables to ensure you are having the dining experience you expect. Great value with their epicurean selection. The whole staff congratulated us on our anniversary, very nice touch.
Happy Anniversary, Tim! Come back in this month to try our new Epicurean menu - Singapore!
This was our first visit to Michael's on East after hearing rave reviews and it did not disappoint! We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary, and we were wished a Happy Anniversary from the start by our hostess and our server. We took advantage of their Signature Cocktail menu as well as the Prix Fixe internationally-inspired Epicurean Dinner, which changes monthly. The server's description of the Filet Mignon Tartare as a starter and a side of Truffled Mac 'N Cheese as a side convinced us to add those, too. All of the food was absolutely delicious, but there was so much we had to take some home. We left as the patrons were gathered around a piano listening to live music in the bar area, and we certainly plan to return.
Restaurant is very noisy. Had to lean into table to hear other person. Got worse when piano was playing. Seemed everyone had to talk louder once the piano started playing. Not much to absorb the sound, which is too bad. Others have said that it is noisy also. Owners should invest in some sound absorbing material.
Waitress never asked if it was our first time in the restaurant, which is was. I ordered filet medium rare and when I cut into it, it looked rare. When the waitress came to the table, she asked if it was too rare and I said yes. Only then did she tell me that at this restaurant medium rare means cool red inside. She should have said that when I ordered it that way.
Wild mushroom medley in garlic butter was bitter.
Waitress brought cream when coffee was served to the person who ordered it, who is vegan, which she was reminded of twice. Clueless.
We regularly come to Michaels on East for special occasions and lunch with friends. The elegant ambiance and fine service are always present. The food is consistently excellent. We often order the Epicurean Menu, which gives a sampling of food from different cuisines. Well prepared every time. Michaels is one of the highlights in the Sarasota restaurant scene.
Thanks much for the kind words, Margaret! July's Epicurean menu is Singapore - it's a good one! Come back and see us to try it!
As close to nyc fine dining as there can be.
Superb savor Sarasota menu
Great piano player to enhance ambiance
This review just made our day! Thank you!
