It was impossible to count how many small dishes and bowls we were served, all filled with one savory, flavorful and beautifully executed and plated taste after another. Each flavor, from the seasoned cheese that came with the bread to the vanilla yogurt and sorbet served at the end was one taste treat after the other. Each of us loved every single bite, all full of flavor inspired by chef Mina’s childhood. I just love za’atar! The service was the best combination of progressional and friendly. We felt like the whole staff was genuinely happy to be of service to the guests. Loved it all.
I would recommend it only if you have enough time. Great food, both beautiful to the eye and wonderful to the palate. However, their Express Lunch was not express enough. I have informed the restaurant ahead of time that we will be time constraint because it was a business lunch, and they told me they should be able to get everything out in one hour; however, by the time the entree came out we only had 20 min left, and we had to leave the restaurant without dessert. We waited 5 to 10 min between appetizer and entree. They should time the course so that 5-10 min to settle down and decide on the entree, 15 min appetizer, 15 min entree, and 15 min dessert. I am very disappointed that I didn't even get to see the dessert for the price that we paid.
Disappointing for a highly rated restaurant. Some of the food was excellent and fresh and some was blah and boring. The best was the mezze on the prix fixe menu. We found the service inconsistent varying between almost obsequiously attentive and total neglect. What a pity.
I can't thank the staff and chef at Michael Mina enough! Thank you! The service and food was incredible/beautiful! We unfortunately had to leave the restaurant early before the meal was finished and the staff and chef accommodated (which I would assume is not typical) with carry out. It was incredible food and atmosphere and I look forward going back to complete the meal in its entirety.
Long time fan of Michael Mina’s, but never had the opportunity to dine in flagship San Francisco. Service and food was excellent. I came in curious because I have eaten in the Las Vegas location a few times a while back. And wasn’t sure how the new menu would translate. Nothing to worry about. The flavors and food were spectacular!!
Every course lovingly served and explained.
What a relaxing and enjoyable evening.
Vacation Dinner one of the best
A bit pricey, but that’s expected. Food is unique, but not necessarily the most delicious vs. other places. Service was excellent. Nice for a special occasion.
Prix fix menu is interesting and creative. Be ready for very high prices on the wine list. Deep selection but the mark ups are out of line. (I am a member of several wine and food groups and cellarmaster for a wine society thus have some experience with fine wines).
The service is excellent and kind, although I wish the sommelier would show the wine labels for a bit longer while describing his choices for the wine flight. The food was novel, interestingly spiced and beautiful - but it didn’t blow me away, which it should have at this price point. The knives for the lobster and steak courses were very dull, sadly, since those proteins were a bit tough. It was a very pleasant meal but slightly missed the mark. I’d still recommend it, but it’s no 2- or 3- star.
It was an amazing experience! Love the food and wine! Anthony, the bartender was amazing!
Top dining experiences in our lifetime. Too many details to write. A Michelin Star dinner. Thank you.
For my taste - wine pairing did not hit home run
The wines were unusual and rare but maybe more available pairings would have been better for my palate
Wonderful lunch set menu was one of the best with many dishes served family style. Made up for multi course dinner
Took the family for our anniversary. Thank you Elizabeth, Henry and the staff for making it a memorable event.
Having had a very enjoyable dinner at the Mina test kitchen I was excited to see the Egyptian influenced food on the SF Michael Mina menu. The $49 express lunch did not disappoint. Wonderful variety of small plate appetizers served family style followed by choice of several entrees (salmon was so well cooked and spiced ) and a small and perfectly satisfying fruit and yogurt dessert. Cocktails were innovative and delicious and the suggested half bottle of wine paired well with the main course. My only complaint was the first course being cleared even when we asked that it be saved (maybe a language problem?) and the excessive wait for the wine. I think this is an excellent value with quality food and preparation and I’ll be back
The staff knew ahead of time and prepared for my birthday and my allergy I received a personal greeting from owner the bartender was great and the excellent food in short is highly recommended
You go to MM expecting an expensive meal, but was unimpressed by the waiter consistently trying to sell the $100+ glasses of wine. It cast a negative feel to the whole experience. The food was solid as always.
The staff went above and beyond to make our experience special. The gnudi was exceptional and a must have.
Outstanding food and service. A great experience beyond the dining. A special place to bring your family and loved ones. An experience they all will remember fondly. Dining at Michael Mina....priceless!
This was the ultimate dining experience. From start to finish every detail was covered. The cocktails where elegant and amazing, the service was second to none, and the food was unbelievable. When I say experience, it truly was more than just a meal. Our clients and partners will remember this night for a very long time.
Fantastic...very very nice evening!!!
Everything was amazing from the service to the food - could not find fault with this wonderful restaurant!
Theatrical gastronomy is the best description for this dinner - a star protagonist - aka the chef - a strong supporting cast, including our waiter who provided explanations when needed and then withdrew. We loved the succession of courses (7+) with the inclusion of Middle Eastern herbs and spices that made the dishes particularly savoury. We will treat ourselves again at MM's.
Food was excellent. Restaurant a bit too empty, making atmosphere a bit forlorn.
Lunch met every expectation. Great Food, Service and Price.
This was a special Birthday and she really enjoyed everything.
Amazing food and great service!
- Excellent food! Impeccable service, but a very noisy facility. We can barely talk to each other.
- i understand that it is a renowned chef and the menu option was a course of six plates, but the value is not compatible with the hole experience.
Great as always!
Totally enjoyed our experience at Michael Mina. Our service was excellent and the food was too!
Get the caviar. Just do it!
Excellent experience at the restaurant. The food was extraordinary and sublime. I would recommend this restaurant without reservations.
Great service! Great caviar!
Awful food, service, and ambiance. Has swiftly gone downhill in past year.
Michael Mina is an excellent restaurant. Definitely worth the visit. The food was superb and the the staff was extremely accomodating to my guests. It was a delightful exprerience.
I travel extensively worldwide, and have been doing so for more than 30 years, dining at most of the world’s best restaurants. Michael Mina was without question the most shockingly overpriced restaurant for what it delivers of any restaurant In which I have ever dined. The service was embarrassingly pretentious, the wine list outrageously overpriced, with a set menu and an a la carte menu both priced in the stratosphere relative to the best restaurants in London, Sydney, Paris, Brussels, New York, Tokyo, Beijing and everywhere in between. Appetizers $35-60 each, and entrees $50-$85 each. Desserts $35 each. Really??? Run, run as fast as you can away from this display of greed and excess.
It feels very outdated as a dining experience. The food was inventive and good, but the value just wasn't there.
