We went for a business meal + celebration. The place has a grand entrance and beautiful from inside. The staff is friendly. The waiter was pleasant to talk to and he explained all the choices form the menu and what can be customized. We had champagne and red wine, it was pricey and delicious. Food was served in timely manner, it looked and tasted great. We also ordered vegetarian dishes from the starter(avocado and other veggies) and main course (pasta) and they were awesome. I'd definitely go there again.
We had the Valentine’s Day dinner set, which was absolutely astounding. The perfect course sizes and the services was outstanding. Everything you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber.
As a special occasion, this place offered a beautiful spacious place, delicately crafted dishes, and attentive staff. This was a nice overall experience that does not come everyday.
We had the 5 course tasting menu for lunch on Valentine's Day. The food was great; the ahi tuna tartare was our favorite! Service was excellent. Great for a special occasion.
Waited 10 min for waitress, didn't provide a menu or explain how lunch worked. Calamari and bread were cold. Waiter delivering the food was wrong about the ingredients in 2 separate dishes. Women's bathroom had concrete floors which smelled, paper towels thrown on the floor and no hood or place to set your handbag so it was the floor! Not 5 star. Wine list outrageously priced. The food was quite good, but not great.
Excellent service, great ambience, however, the food wss subpar.
The menu sounded fantastic, but the experience was rather frustrating. Truffles without taste. Unbalanced salt levels. Combinations that hide flavours. Mediocre wine. Good service but overall experience was overrated and set to be forgotten. This is a kind of place that may be good enough for a casual lunch. But does not deserve a michelin star.
Tried the 5 course prix fixe lunch deal through travelzoo. Was worried that we would get second rate "Groupon crowd" food. Definitely felt like they treated the entire meal as such, instead of making it an opportunity to win over new repeat customers.
Tartare was bland. Trout was overcooked with soggy skin. And the pork was very dry. I have been there for dinner and this was not even close to as good as the "full price menu".
Bone broth and hazelnut dessert were tasty though.
Overall, I used to recommend MMina as a good date/anniversary place to friends based on my previous dinner experiences, but this meal left a bad taste in my mouth.
We experienced Michael Mina through a Travel Zoo deal. It was worth the drive from the peninsula. The tasting menu of 5 dishes was a lovely introduction to the restaurant. This is a richly-appointed restaurant with a high-ceiling dining room and an elegant ambiance. The food was delicious, especially the outstanding dessert (chocolate cream, hazelnut and coffee cake) which rounded the meal perfectly. The service was impeccable and we felt welcomed from the moment we stepped through the door. We shall definitely return to try some of their signature dishes.
This was a special birthday lunch- outstanding experience- service was crisp & professional, food was expertly prepared & delicious
Food and service excellent.
Wine pricing many times what I would expect. Many wines 3/4 times retail vs 2 x retail. Could be justified for older rare vintages-BUT not for wines released in the last five years. Had to peruse the list at length to identify a good value for the red and white wines we chose. (List on MM website-did not match the physical list handed to us-making my advance choices null and void.)
Some issues with the food quality. Mentioned several times to staff with no real intervention or offering for something better. Service was extremely sparse. No one checked in with us the entire time to ask about a second drink or how things were going - and we got the chefs tasting too!
Food was sub-par.
We each did the five course tasting and just felt every dish was unremarkable. Everything was visually appealing, yet lacked depth of flavors. Favorite dish was the cake with cranberries.
