Amazing food and ambiance!
My husband and I had the best tasting menu. Our server was very pleasant but there was a lot of delay between courses. It was evident that the food was though fully prepared but the oysters and shrimp roe (an ingredient in the pasta dish) were both too fishy. The other flavors were carefully planned and executed. The meal for two took almost 2.5 hours. We were, however, pleasantly surprised when the server brought us a $50 gift certificate!
We will go back and try the regular menu.
Great meal and excellent service!
5 star roast chicken entree and chocolate torte dessert, excellent service by Sean
Chestunt Hill is beautiful and I read good things about this restaurant, however the food was uneven. Our starter salad had huge whole leaves, which made it difficult to eat, but the dressing was very nice. Our other appetizer was a crab beignet...oily, decent flavor, no crab. My husband's pork entree was delicious, but my entree of scallops was accompanied by a confusing pickle cut in pieces - pickle flavor doesn't blend well with a seafood curry - and the scallops were rubbery. The curry sauce itself seemed oily and lacked flavor. Given my expectations and decent reviews, I was quite disappointed!
Everything was good. The pork chop entree and the fruit soup appetizer were particularly delicious. Also the jalapeno dashi the tuna came in. So many good flavors! The wife and I loved it. Our waiter was 5 stars and super attentive.
Food is always delicious, and vegetarian options are just as good as meat based food. The back yard patio is much prettier than before. Waiter was unsure about some of the ingredients, even as basic as what soup was made of. But staff was pleasant.
The staff provide excellent professional service. The food creations are always amazing and delicious.
We had the tasting menu and was surprised and pleases with each course. Service was excellent! Noise level was a bit high but full of happy conservations.
A date with my wife — and everything was totally perfect. Thank you
Too noisy which would be unavoidable in that space - food was very enjoyable but we felt that they could have at least given half a dozen oysters rather than stopping at five. It just would have been an easy way for the restaurant to leave us with a better feeling. We enjoyed our dinner much but might have appreciated a couple more entree choices. If we get back to the area we would probably return to the restaurant and would recommend it to others
Very pleasant in every way!
Mica was one of our favorite restaurants. We went a few times a month. Our recent visit was tasty but the serving was small and the cost was high.
I would rate Mica 5 stars if it were a better value. Prices are steep, but we know that before showing up there. Food is excellent but portions are small so you could well end up ordering 3 courses. Being BYOB helps a lot, though and much of the cuisine is quite rich/French so you end up feeling reasonably satisfied. We were there on a relatively quiet weeknight but the service was excellent. All in all, a good special occasion choice.
This is the third time we were at MICA. We were wowed the first and the noise was a little bit of an issue. Food was great and wine was great. The second time the noise level was better it switched to a BYOB which is always appreciated by me, but the food was OK. It was really crowded and I wonder if the staff was just a little overwhelmed. This third time was the charm, staff was amazing, food was beautiful. The albacore tuna dish was one of the best we had ever had, eating sushi internationally this is saying a lot. Both entree were also well executed and presented beautifully.
This place is fabulous. I don't know why I haven't been here in 9 months, I should come here once a week. Everything food was to die for, and service too. OMFG.
The eggplant and duck was Most delicious meal ive had in Philadelphia
We really enjoyed the six course tasting menu. Our wait staff were wonderful and very helpful. The food was amazing.
Went for Chestnut Hill restaurant week, Mica has been on the “ to do” list for some time as it has been rated as on of the area’s top restaurants for some time. The food was quite tasty, had the tomato and ricotta appetizer which was fresh and tasty, the salmon was cooked just right , served with a tomato coulis and a polenta side dish. The chocolate torte dessert hit all the right notes without being over sweet. The presentation was on point and wait staff quite accommodating. It’s also a BYOB, which is great to bring your favorite wine in while helping to keep the total, cost down. We sat in the back deck area which we lucked out with a perfect August night not being too humid,Mathew indie seating are looked quite cozy. Everyone enjoyed their meals and agreed a definite place to revisit! Great for a date night or larger group
The food is always delicious and as this was restaurant week, especially good value. Melon soup was outstanding as were the desserts. Skirt steak was perfectly prepared and pasta dish had a tasty sauce altho the pasta itself was a little uneven and clumpy. As usual, the wait staff was lovely and attentive, the setting comfortable.
I love Mica and I’m so lucky to live nearby
We were there to celebrate a special anniversary and we ordered the chefs tasting menu and it was amazing!! Our server was fantastic and super accommodating. It was a wonderful dinner celebration!
A lovely evening. Consistently superior food and service.
Visited here here for the first time for restaurant week. Chose from the limited special menu and was impressed with the food. Cold melon soup was delicious as was the strip steak. Chocolate cherry tart was winner for dessert. Some portions were on the small side, but chef is accomplished and the service was great! Definitely plan to return for another meal.
Too noisy for a four-way conversation. Food was terrific. Nothing special about the space.
Overall great food! Only eat here 2x a year as eat overpriced despite quality. Chilled soup and heirloom tomato appetizers excellent; salmon great; hanger steak only fair; ricotta donuts not as good as usual. Hard to get cold water here which is ridiculous. Bread given sparingly. Service usually worst part of meal-ok this time,
Snooty judgmental waitress.
Food ok. small portions. Tasty bread.
service depends on your race. Not welcoming to All customers.
Given Small table, despite Plenty of open tables.
other "reservations" did Not arrive till we were almost done our meal.
Always a great experience at Mica!
The food was excellent as was the service. The value was very good as it was part of a “restaurant week” promotion
Fortunate to snag a table outside on a wonderful summer night.
I have been to Mica many times and the food and service has always been amazing! But sometimes the deserts don’t quite measure up to the rest. Friday the tiny strawberries and custard were over the top yummy.
I highly recommend the “let us cook for you” 6 course option. I ordered it twice this week because the first time was so wonderful... and some how the second time was even better! Each course was full of beautiful fresh ingredients. All the fruits and vegetables were cut and presented perfectly to add to the beauty of the course. I wish I had plans to be in the area sooner to see if a third night would be better still!
We have been wanting to eat at Mica for years and were not disappointed! The freshness, inventiveness, presentation, and quality of the food was top-notch. One of our party is a vegetarian, and the cucumber soup and cauliflower were fantastic, as was the other diner's beet salad and salmon. The service throughout was solicitous without being obtrusive. It's a lovely space, as well. Small and rightly popular, which means that if somebody next to you decides to speak loudly the entire meal--ahem--you'll have to deal with it. But this was a minor annoyance.
Greeted by the hostess as soon as we entered Mica. Service and food were outstanding throughout our evening. We would highly recommend Mica and plan on returning soon.
The. Best Dinner.
Dinner st Mica is always excellent. This was extraordinary.
The best soft shells ever! Thanks
Great soft shell crab entree with heirloom tomatoes!
Over the top crab beignets! Service from Carolyn exceptionally warm and attentive. Sat outside for the first time - beautiful evening!
I'll start with the noise level, for a change. It was nicely quiet, but that was only because we were sitting outside on Mica's deck - the weather was perfect (not too hot, not too cold, not rainy) , the place relaxing and serene, with lots of potted plants all around. The inside is much noisier, although we discovered that how noisy it is depends on where one is sitting.
We had the "From Greece with Love" prix fixe meal, which was excellent all around. YiaYia's dolmades were so much better than what one can usually get - I only wish Mica served YiaYia's dolmades as an amuse-bouche more often, as they used to. Superb tomato salad - the tomatoes were gorgeously ripe and full of flavor, the olive oil was excellent, the salad was dressed just the right amount, and the pita that came with the salad was also excellent (it seemed it might have been made in-house). Octopus was also wonderful; the only issue I had was with the potatoes, which were a bit mushy. I would have preferred the small waxy potatoes, cooked a tad less. The moussaka was a wonderful example of the genre, and to finish it off, the baklava was to die for (even the pistachios were better than any I have tasted). Bravo!
Wait . staff has always been excellent. Desserts are exceptional
