I haven’t been here in a long time. I made reservations for my friends birthday and we had a great time. They give you complimentary dessert if it’s your bday but not sure if it’s certain desserts because we were charged $15 for the warm fudge brownie. I didn’t ask ahead since we were too busy talking.

Good good and a fun menu. Good cocktails as well. Cool atmosphere inside that is suitable for sit down dining and casual bar hangin’. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly if you are in Loz Feliz.

Once again, MessHall Kitchen has exceeded my expectations. The wait staff is superb and you are never left wondering when you will see your server again. The drink menu continues to evolve and the creativity from behind the bar is excellent.

The menu is sometimes a challenge to find something to eat. We waited at the bar until our seat was ready, never came over to take a drink order. However the waiter, with a little urging made up for that in personality. The food is crafted, so note that the portions are plenty in the entrée, the appetizers are small and you have to order two for more than four people. Overall, this is a good place to eat.

I was a bit disappointed. Our appetizers got to our table at the same time as our main entrees. The drinks were watered down - too much ice. The pork belly was tough and they server did not tell me it was spicy!!! Also the short rib was very salty!

The food at Messhall is tasty and affordable. The portions are solid. Most importantly, you can hear yourselves talk! The servers were very attentive and we never felt rushed. My only complaint was the parking. I pulled in and parked in a bank spot (since the bank was closed). When we headed to the door, a young man jumped out of a very nice Mercedes and told us it was “valet only.” So he asked for my keys and gave me a ticket stub. When we finished, since no one was doubled up in front of us, he took my $8, handed me the keys, and off we went. So we paid $8 to park our car in a bank parking space. That part was very bothersome and might be enough to keep me away in the future.

I've eaten at Mess Hall for 2 birthdays, a reunion with an old friend I haven't seen in over 10 years, several regular mid-week dinners because the kids wanted the burgers, and now Valentine's Day. Always on point. The 30-min biscuits are insanely good - order more than 1 serving and order it as soon as you sit down (We actually call ahead (you're welcome). Valet $8 but you can find street parking nearby.

Very good atmosphere and overall vibe- staff is very friendly. Reservations where easy to make and modify. Andrew our server was phenomenal and made this experience even better . On top of all this, the chilaquiles I had where next level. My friends and I are definitely coming back!

So I went last night to celebrate my bday with my friends. Set our reservations which was fine and service was great. What was not good was the food sadly. I used to come here a lot. Last time I came was for a Christmas party just before Covid started. I shoulda knew something when I saw my fav dish was gone, the blackened catfish. The food was not seasoned well. Something they used to do well. My friends got the tri rib they both said it was bland. My other friend got another dish a pork dish and also said the same thing. I got the salmon but also it needed salt there was not flavor. I was super disappointed that we came and the food was subpar. We also got chargrilled oysters they were ultra small and barely had garlic just doused in cheese. I would say only thing was good was the drinks. I would go back for drinks but that is all. So heads up messhall is NOT what it used to be. Def wish I picked a better place for my bday. Ambience is cute but I wanna enjoy my food too. Smh

Mess Hall is a reliable fun restaurant with enough space so that is not usually hard to get a reservation even last minute. Also, the semi-enclosed patio is usually warm enough with heat lamps even in the winter. The cocktails are the STAR here. Unbelievable creative cocktails in LA, which I consider to be the cocktail capital of the world. (Fight me.). The food and drinks are a bit overpriced, sure, but you're paying for the fun atmosphere in Los Feliz, and they are only moderately overpriced not CRAZY. I was there last night with a friend. We each had 2 cocktails, we split a Harvest salad (sooo good, would go back for this alone), and we each had an entree. I had scallops with grits, which was very good, and she had fish and chips, which was a HUGE plate of fried food, and my skinny friend definitely had a meal left over for the next day's lunch. The bill was $150. So, not cheap, but I've seen worse. If I were more budget conscious, I'd go there for salad, fries, and a drink. If I were younger and single, I'd go for the bar and order an app. The service has always been BEYOND FRIENDLY, I really appreciate that these LA, Los Feliz, hipsters do not give attitude like they do at some LA joints. They must hire and train people to be above-and-beyond approachable and friendly. I love Mess Hall for a fun night out.

Everything we ordered was delicious! The service was impeccable and staff was super attentive. Some of the dishes we ordered and highly recommended: 30-min biscuits, Brussels sprouts, scallops and grits, Fish Fry (HUGE portion!), C.A.B Short Rib, taro chips/tuna tartare, and Risotto were delectable. Warm ambience and noise level is just right.

Great dinner spot, but also has a solid brunch. Short Rib and Burger were delicious and the brownie for dessert was also great. For cocktails we had the old fashioned, the Thai inspired drink (can’t recall the name), & a glacier water (which had a cool look and tasted kind of like a gin/Fresca but also like a Negroni).

Somehow we keep ending up back here because of the convenience, but the food hit an all-time low yesterday. The biscuits in the chicken and biscuits were actually fully burned on the bottom and the fried chicken totally dry and overcooked-- but we had waited so long for it that we couldn't bother complain. Our server was nice and did a good job, but man...for the price, the food is ROUGH.
