The Merrick Inn has been owned and operated by the Murray family for over 40 years. Offering the finest in traditional southern dining and innovative specials. Times have changed, but we believe the beauty and charm of our inn remain the same.
Our family of 9 enjoyed Merrick Inn last Friday. The staff makes everyone feel as if their guest’s satisfaction is of utmost importance. Delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
The Merrick Inn is the standard in fine southern dining. Their traditional menu offerings are something my wife and I look forward to each time we travel to Lexington, and their daily are specials will take your breath away. Come hungry and ready to sit back and enjoy. Pierre is all class, and the entire staff always make us feel at home — True Southern Hospitality!
Great local place for some great local food. I’ll be back.
Great food and amazingly fast service. Nice cocktails and classy environment. Only complaint is parking.
I took out of state guests to Merrick Inn since I wanted to give them the local experience. The food and service was outstanding. I have never been disappointed by your restaurant and look forward to many trips back. All our guests said it was one of the nicest meals in their memory.
Two large parties that evening. As a result Service was exceptionally slow. Took approximately two hours to get our food from the time we sat down.
Impecuble service and great food
My party of 3 was seated in a room with 2 parties of 10, so the noise level was crazy and the service was not attentive, due to waitress having to deal with large parties. Wifes orders steak well done (is not a problem at any other restaurant). When the waitress brought it out, she would not even serve it because the blood had filled up the plate, Then they took it back (while we all sat around and stared at our food). Returned the steak and it was charred so bad we took a knife and had to scrape it off.
Good experience, good atmosphere.
Amazing food and atmosphere as always!
Wonderful time! The 50 for 50 is a great special!
Loved every minute of it. Food was delicious. Service was beyond excellent.
Great traditional KY fare. But main room was overtabled and very loud. Wasn’t able to carry on a conversation with our group of eight until it cleared outcome after about 730pm. Loved the atmosphere except for the noise.
The service was excellent & food very tasty
EXCELLENT!!!! SUPERB!!!! MEMORABLE!!!!! MY FAVORITE IN LEXINGTON!!!
Great server and great food.
Waitress smelled like cigarettes she smacked chewing gum in our faces all night
Great local cuisine with an extensive wine list and drink menu. Quite noisy when we were seated at 8pm, but got a little quieter later. Dining room was cold when we sat down but warmed up later. Food and service were excellent.
Best steak in years.
I enjoyed the appetizer -crab cakes with fried green tomatoes - as well as anything on of off the menu that we ordered. Need to have more seafood options on the menu. Service was good, but I had to refill my own wine glass and water glass, and while that may sound picky, it sets this apart from other restaurants where that is not required.
We love Merrick Inn. We come back time and again because it is such a special dining experience. Love the food, service and atmosphere. It makes all our special times even better.
Great as always
Great experience. Nice ambiance for an evening meal but very crowded. A little too much hustle and bustle at times while waiting for our table, however, once we were seated, it became a very enjoyable dining experience. Awesome staff. Crab cakes are delish! The pasta is amazing. Strawberry shortcake a must! A bit pricey but definitely worth it. Complementary valet service welcomed. Highly recommend!
Friends and family members have taken a handicapped lady in a very large wheelchair and resides in a nursing home to Merrick Inn to celebrate Christmas the last three years. Other than church services, it's the highlight of the season for her. She used to live in Merrick and loved going to eat at the Inn so it's a trip back to what she used to enjoy so much before she was diagnosed with MS. We were seated in a corner near a fireplace which Penni loved and it was perfect for the server and the wheelchair. We'll be back again next year.
This was an annual get together. They LOVED Merrick Inn. I can always count on this restaurant to exceed my guests’ expectations!
Great for any dining...everyday to special occasion. Superb service and delicious food. Cozy ambiance.
We had a lovely holiday dinner for three. The staff was very helpful with my mother, who’s in a wheelchair. Our server (sorry I don’t recall her name) was first rate. I started with the rich and creamy seafood bisque. I then had the scallops appetizer as a main course. With three medium size scallops, it was perfect. The apple crisp was an excellent dessert, although the vanilla ice cream was nothing special. The ambiance of Merrick Inn has always been warm and special—like going to the upscale home of a good neighbor for dinner.
Celebrating our son’s commencement from the University of Kentucky, just five days before Christmas...absolute perfection. There is no more representative place to celebrate or just enjoy a terrific meal than Merrick Inn. We enjoyed a fabulous evening and delicious meal. From appetizers and drinks to dessert, this was a magical evening for our family!
I am just so impressed with the staff at Merrick Inn. We took our little girl to dinner with us and they treated us like royalty! They spoiled our daughter and were so kind. The food was delicious and the atmosphere so perfect. I am still blown away with our experience and can’t wait to go back. ❤️
Wait was very disappointing. We had a 7pm reservation and were not seated until 7:30. Then our order wasn’t taken for another 20 min. It was 8:30 when we received our food. Food was good however this makes several times in the past year where service has suffered.
A party of four enjoyed the Chef's special of Grouper with Lobster Risotto. It was excellent.
Amazing food and a perfectly relaxing setting. So very Lexington.
The atmosphere was old world and the food had outstanding flavor. The menu choices had something for every taste. Their signature fried chicken was crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside. The grouper was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Somewhat pricey but well worth it overall.
Haven’t dined here in ages. Big mistake. Best crab cakes ever atop fried green tomatoes, wedge with “unforgettable” house made blue cheese dressing over crispy cold lettuce, succulent grilled salmon, and a pork tenderloin so good it was featured on Fine Cooking (filmed at table 11 - where we were sitting - right by the fireplace), and award-winning fried chicken (add a piece to any order!), and apple strudel with ice cream. Outstanding service and delisted cocktails. Named by Forbes as one of the top 50 southern restaurants. If you get to Lexington, go. Be sure to pay homage to Merrick the famous race horse buried out front. Won 62 races and finished in the money 152 times. #merrickinn #merrickplace #wednesdayswithfranks @ Merrick Inn Restaurant
We love Merrick but this was not our best experience.
Will always return ... sometimes things just do not work as well us usual. I will admit I hold Merrick to a high standard based on my experiences through past years.
One of our favorites. Always delicious and constant. The crab and lobster nachos are on point. I always order the fish special- never been disappointed.
Can’t beat the food and ambience at Merrick Inn. I’ve been eating here for 40 years and have never had a bad meal. Love this place!
It was good.
