It was here at Merrick Place, that Milam and his groom, Mr. Johnson, trained the fabled "Exterminator", Kentucky Derby winner of 1918. Here also, "Tut Tut", Komuraski, Commodore, Brown Wisdom, Miss Joy, Milkmaid, McKee and Dust Flower started on their paths to fame and fortune. None of these, however, gained such widespread fame as Merrick himself. Merrick finished in the money 157 times, winning 62 races.
The Merrick Inn has been owned and operated by the Murray family for nearly 40 years. Offering the finest in traditional southern dining and innovative specials. Times have changed, but we believe the beauty and charm of our inn remain the same.
One of my favorite places and it was prime rib Monday!
We went for our anniversary and the atmosphere was great. The service was really great and the server was very knowledgeable concerning the menu. I think the food was pretty good but I felt it was a bit pricey. We did have a really good time and I would recommend it for a special celebration.
This was one of the few meals for which neither my wife or I would have changed a thing. Both the food and service were top-notch, beginning with the seasonal cocktail made with Elijah Craig bourbon and cinnamon simple syrup, through the entrees of walleye pike and salmon, and ending with cinnamon raisin bread pudding. Compliments to all!
Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, excellent food! Will definitely visit again!
Service was great. Food was okay but overpriced for the quality. Tables are entirely too close together. Valet was quick however half of heat lamps outside were burned out and they are too small to do any good either way- so a cold wait for the valet. A good experience but there’s better in Lexington
Wonderful experience as always! Been coming here for at least 20 years! Food and Service is always the best!!
A Lexington classic. For the past 22 years we have been at least once a year, my wife's favorite for our anniversary. We have never been disappointed.
Moved back to Lexington from Florida and was happy to see that after all these years it's still a staple for Lexington dinning. Awesome then and now, can't wait to visit The Merrick again.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food was excellent. We were treated with special care and had a great evening.
Awesome food and service Merrick Inn is one of our favorite restaurants and is always consistently great. Love it!
The food, service and ambiance is perfect. We dine here often.
Lovely evening, nice place for parents "Date Night" ...glad the Almond Chicken is back on the menu. Let's Get You...CASE CLOSED!!!
Always good, whether old favorites or the nights specials. Comfort food in comfortable surroundings! One of the best in Lexington!
Delightful an delicious!
Birthday Dinner. Very nice. Great Service. Kristen was our waitress and made us feel right at home. She was knowledgeable and her recommendations were spot on if not better than she described.
Will definitely repeat business.
Merrick Inn has always been one of our favorite spots in Lexington. We have been patrons for more than 20 years and have come to expect a certain level of service and quality. I am sad to say that our experience last eve fell far short of those expectations. Service was at best fair as our waitress was clearly stretched too thin trying to serve tables in two different rooms. As we were her only table in the room where we were seated, we got very little of her time or attention. The food was also a mixed experience. Mine was excellent while my spouse’s entree was only “warm” and lacked flavor. These are only the two primary disappointments of the evening. There are others that simply made a bad situation more so. All I can say is that if we thought this was the way things will be in the future, we will remove Merrick Inn from our consideration set
Birthday with friends
Calamari appetizer is my favorite. Fried chicken was excellent! Our server Morgan was very friendly and helpful. Manager Clay made us feel very welcome. We definitely go back there again.
The server was very friendly to the men at the table but cool to the ladies.
Outstanding. Took my wife for her birthday. Everything was perfect. Food, sevice and atmosphere.
We were seated promptly. The lobster bisque was outstanding, the wine list extensive, the beer selection so-so. The fried chicken was all I hoped it to be. Loved the soup beans, the mashed potatoes were fine. My finance had the pork loin and loved it. The service was superior. The price was reasonable with and ambiance that was perfect. To finish the night the valet parking was perfect on a night with thunderstorms!
It had been awhile since we'd eaten at Merrick, but it did not disappoint. The food was FABULOUS and the service was top notch! We loved the Onion and Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes and the Mountain Pie.
Merrick Inn is my favorite restaurant for "date night" or out with friends. Always good food and service is great. The other couple we were eating with did not get his side as requested until after the meal was over but thats the only reason for not 5 star on service, otherwise it was a 5. The margarita he ordered was served in a small brandy glass filled full of ice, he didn't think it was worth the price.
Our new favorite place to dine.
Service and food were wonderful.
My favorite restaurant in Lexington! Phenomenal food, service, and overall ambiance! A must!!
Tried offerings from the $50 for 50 day menu. Great food, regular sized portions. Service and ambience great.
Visitor from out of state and celebrate the new year.
Atmosphere is really lovely and a nice place to take out of town guests because it has a nice local flavor. We sat in the oldest front section which was quieter, which was nice because we could hear the conversation better. The waitress explained the specials, but never gave us the prices. I ordered the grouper, which usually isn’t an expensive fish, but it was $37, which I thought was rather high, but it tasted really good. My husband ordered the salmon, it was good, but the salmon at Malone’s is better and less expensive. Overall, the food was very good, but go for the atmosphere, the food at Malone’s and Carson’s is better and less expensive.
Cathy and I travel specifically from Hagerstown , Md just to eat at this restaurant. Great Calamari, second to none, fine main courses, well worth the drive. They will see us again. Do yourself a favour , make it a point to visit this restaurant
The walleye is delicious with wonderful side dishes. My family has enjoyed this restaurant for years.
We had an excellent dinner for my sister in laws birthday! I would highly recommend this place. Food was excellent.
Great food and fantastic service. The wine was excellent so we opened another bottle (Seven Falls Cellars Cab).
Awesome experience! Would highly recommend for a quiet dinner!!
Wonderful restaurant! Menu offers unusual items that many restaurants don’t offer. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly. Plus, the restaurant offers complimentary valet parking.
Have been going there for years. This time was different. The food quality took a nose dive since our last visit. So disappointing! While the servers were very kind and accommodating, I think they were overburdened and stretched too thin. Food was too salty, salad not crisp and and table much too small for our party. We will not be returning.
Busy Saturday night. Five of us, very different tastes. There was something for everyone. The salmon was like butter. Pork tenderloin was excellent. Green beans and corn pudding were the best. Our server Pierre was the best. He was busy with a lot of tables, but never forgot us. All in all a great meal and experience.
Our waiter Pierre was awesome! My first trip to Merrick was a success-delicious food and a great dinner. Highly recommend!
Absolutely wonderful! Dined here on a one-night stopover and we’ll definitely come back in the future when we make this trip. Superlative service.
