It was here at Merrick Place, that Milam and his groom, Mr. Johnson, trained the fabled "Exterminator", Kentucky Derby winner of 1918. Here also, "Tut Tut", Komuraski, Commodore, Brown Wisdom, Miss Joy, Milkmaid, McKee and Dust Flower started on their paths to fame and fortune. None of these, however, gained such widespread fame as Merrick himself. Merrick finished in the money 157 times, winning 62 races.
The Merrick Inn has been owned and operated by the Murray family for nearly 40 years. Offering the finest in traditional southern dining and innovative specials. Times have changed, but we believe the beauty and charm of our inn remain the same.
Bar and patio seating are available starting at 4:00pm for cocktails.
Appetizers and sandwiches are available by 5:00pm and the full menu by 5:30pm.
PLEASE NOTE: RESERVATIONS MADE ARE FOR THE DINING ROOM. WE DO NOT RESERVE PATIO OR BAR TABLES.
I have customer from
Pittsburgh ... he only wants to eat here ever visit !
We brought customers from Memphis , brought them to Merrick .., coming back in Dec , requested Merrick !
Brought clients and it was delicious and fun! Thank you!
We had a wonderful evening. Thanks for the tasty dessert. Keep up the good work.
Lexington landmark, great food and service---on the noisy and congested side for quiet dining
Simply the best, our crew from Woodbe Farm Martha’s Vineyard celebrated our week and success at The Nationals and we topped it all off at The Merrick Inn. Couldn’t have been a better night, thanks to all.
I love this place, but we made reservations for 7:45pm but we weren't seated until 8pm. what is the purpose of reservations if you aren't seated at the requested time? The house was very cold, the fireplace wasn't putting out much heat. But the food is great and the waiter was kind. Best filet in Lexington.
Visited from Dallas, TX while on a business and fun trip combined.
Requested romantic seating and were seated in a great little room (right of the host/hostess station) with limited seating next to a fireplace. Made for a great date night! Server was very attentive. Ordered a specially prepared steak that was done perfectly. I will be back for sure.
The Merrick Inn was outstanding! We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary there and they made sure that the greeting to the food and desert were top notch. I would recommend them for any occasion!
Went for Wednesday night fried chicken special.
Everything was Fabulous. First timers and exceeded our expectations. Going back Monday night for the prime rib feed. Don’t miss this place.
One of my favorite places in Lexington.
Merrick Inn is an old established Lexington tradition but our last visit was not as it should be. For starters, we were seated in one of the small crowded rooms and our server was unable to stand at our table to tell us the specials because of the traffic from the other server walking by repeatedly. Very annoying. Second, my wife's water glass was dirty and had to be replaced. That happens. But my appetizer plate was dirty also, dried food, and had to be replaced. Two dirty dished during one meal..excessive. We both ordered a salad with our meal and blue cheese dressing. The dressing was very, very bland and I do not recommend it. The rest of the entree was OK, it's hard to mess up a baked potato. The wine was also very good. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding for desert . We have ordered bread putting at restaurants for years but have never seen any like that. It appeared to be nothing but warmed brownie dough. Would not recommend it for bread pudding ever. I would not feel comfortable recommending Merrick Inn to any of our out of town guests.
Been to Merrick Inn many times over the years-it never disappoints. Always great food and excellent service. I would highly recommend!
the special was $39.00. no price was given. and it was not a good piece of fish!
Service was excellent. Seating for a large party of people was crowded and cramped.
Table was not ready at hour reserved. We were offered tables for 2, for party of three.
Considering that waitress had several years' experience, was not polished.
Valet nowhere to be seen at 10 pm departure.
Very nice venue.
Merrick Inn is the best! It never disappoints, relaxing atmosphere and great food!
We went for our second anniversary and it was great. It was a little more expensive than I thought it would be but it was delicious. We'll definitely go again in the future.
My husband had the Ribeye and said it was delicious! I had the Chicken Margarita with asparagus and Hollandaise sauce - wonderful!! Enjoyable evening!
Customer service and food is always consistent and delicious. Our server Tina made our evening. She was so friendly and attentive.
The food here is always top notch. Amy, our server, was fun, professional, and knowledgeable. We look forward to our next visit.
Favorite place to go after a day at Keeneland. Never have been disappointed.
We had a lovely dinner. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was great. We highly recommend Merrick Inn for any occasion.
After just one visit, The Merrick Inn is our new after Keeneland spot. Sorry M*'s.
We had a great meal and our server was excellent!
I am not a foodie, however, the first time we ate there I actually took pictures and sent them to my family. They were shocked that I was extremely pleased with a meal. We live in Indiana and recently took a trip to Biltmore (Ashville, NC). We actually booked a room in Lexington, KY just so we could eat at the Merrick Inn on our way to NC. This was our second meal there and were equally as happy!!
Was a perfect place to take out of state visitors for a true KY experience! Loved everything from the appetizers to the delicious corn pudding! A true gem!
Dinner Great - Service Great
Old bar changed over the years and has too many TVs
Everyone was kind and friendly
The rooms were comfortable
We've been going to the Merrick Inn for about 45 years and have always been enthralled by the ambiance of it. The food has changed over the years but it is still very good and there are always a lot of authentic southern dishes from which to choose. The staff are always accommodating, courteous and efficient. This latest visit was to celebrate a special anniversary and we were served a dessert with a candle on a special plate.
Excellent food, great service but the noise level was horrible. They need to focus large tables in a single room or two and put tables of 6 or less in rooms together. We were having great conversation until they setup a table for 12 in our room and Im an not sure we had a second of comfortable conversation after the larger table arrived. Very disappointing when we were trying to catch up with our daughter over a nice dinner during a visit to Lexington.
Good spot!!! Always make it a point to have a meal here when traveling the area
We had a group of 12 in one of the upstairs rooms. We received top notch service from our server, Kristin, the food was excellent, and it was a great southern atmosphere!
We’re glad we attended this restaurant. It was an enjoyable evening. Between the staff and the food it made for an evening we will long remember and we look forward to a return visit in the future.
Setting, service and food were all great, but the room we were in was extremely noisy. As the restaurant appears to be in a former residence, ther might be smaller rooms where noise is less of an issue, but I don’t recall know. Aside from that everything was first-class.
This was our third visit. It was awesome all three times. The food is delicious. Great wine list
We have eaten here many times over the past years. Sorry to say.....the quality of the food is drastically declining. Service was great however.
Good service, good food-filet was exceptionally tender but was too salty. Southern greens were also very salty.
House Merlot tasted as though the bottle had been opened for several days.
Chef needs to not be so heavy handed with the salt, the food was too good otherwise to be that heavily salted.
Very nice. Amazing food and service. Wont blame the restaurant for obnoxious table
We had an excellent experience. From our greeting at the front door, our fantastic server Kristin, and a friendly good- bye on our way out Merrick Inn is a must. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy. We will make this one of our routine stops when in Lexington.
Wonderful service, food and selections. Really neat environment!
